Sup boys, been seeing some comments around the web about TFD dropping off or dying, wanted to give my thoughts on it, generally in live service games like this you will see dips, we saw it in warframe, we saw it in destiny, TFD is no different, I think we have a healthy player base and we're gonna have alot of people come back on October 10th! Something to note is these are Steam charts only and doesn't account for console, the games totally fine and well see those numbers go back up each patch
I agree with most of what you said, peaks and dips are definitely the life cycle of live service game, but what concerns me with the longevity of the game, especially being a new IP. The gameplay is fun, the models *chef's kiss* but the grind is atrocious and a major turn off for players that are not able to no life the game whether it being trying to juggle multiple games or work getting the way or other responsibilities. The drop rates are more in line with mobile gacha games than an interactive looter shooter. I believe they work for mobile games because the autoplay features exist, where they don't have to run 100xs on Bio Labs for a Blair part. (Yujins cries haunt my dreams now). Implementing a pity system like Destiny's Dungeons or adopting drop rates like other long standing looter shooters may help ensure the longevity of TFD because I would hate to see it end up like all the other Nexon games.
we heard the same on concorde abt consoles.. didnt saves them. im not sure why u talked about player numbers dipping on warframe .. it never did. the only way to check that is wfm trading. mods trading is healthy. destiny 2 on the other hand.. you can login and see how many people do world events. its minimal now. thats a dip.
I seem to remember it also being said about Wayfinder (not by you but by others) that Wayfinder "will do just fine" while player numbers were dropping and that game died as a live service. I'm personally frustrated by the astronomically low drop chances for the things I want in FD but if the developers can bring the fun factor up and the frustration factor down I think this game will have a better chance at success. I'm not saying it will die otherwise, I'm just saying that the longevity chances will be higher.
@@MO-nj7tj Concord was pretty much the most extreme example you could of chosen but regardless, it was DOA so it shouldn't really be compared to TFD like at all...i compared it to warframe because it's in the same genre and steam charts shows the same data of dips and then new content comes up and player base shoots up again. TFD is in its very early life cycle and the fact they can hold 100k player's when everyone didn't like the season 1 content is telling. I have no doubt oct 10th well see a huge spike since everyone wanted ultimate freyna, increased hard mode, and the vendor. Then in december we have mega dungeons. Im not worried at all tbh
@@SamuxPlaysidk why people keep mentioning concord it’s not the same game at all. It’s more of a Battle Royale and TFD has absolutely no pvp or even competitive tallying … there isn’t even a MVP lol
I've been gaming since my grandpa put an Atari 2600 controller in my hand to play Pitall together. The tried and true way to tell if a game is dying is matchmaking queue times. Can't find a queue? Dead game. Can find a queue? Not dead.
When it takes over a min to queue the first dungeon or hard boss. It's pretty telling. Also had times where I dropped into Albion and came back 10 minutes later to an empty lobby. Weird feeling on a friday.
@@Mrd1984 idk I always get a little frustrated because I'll queue up to an intercept and think "ok maybe I'll check on crafting or maybe I'll cook up a catalyst while I wait" and I can't take two steps before I get sent into the rice fields
I just want to paint the default skin of the descendants and also praying that paints become permament at some point, paying 2 dollars to paint the shoelaces of a skin is nightmare fuel.
Hailey grind is super refreshing, i only needed to log in for 20 minutes a day for a week and got her, i could farm or grind other stuff if i keeped playing.
This is why I try to take my time, when I play games like this. When I know that it's going to be awhile, before the next update, I tend to slow my progress down, so that whenever the next update hits, I'm not having the play the waiting game. Not to mention, this game is still relatively new, in terms of how long it's been out, so of course it's going to have its ups and downs. Good thing is, there's progress and that's always a good thing for games like this. I personally can't wait to see how ultimate freyna will be, when she comes out.
So an observation I had. I heard that most of their player base was on console, so I figured lets do an experiment. I ran around Albion counting in groups of 10 to 15, then teleported somewhere and came back to Albion and counted 10 to 15 players. I did this about 20 times, and on average, I would only count about 3 players on Steam. So I believe that yes, most of their player base is in fact on console, so maybe just possible (obviously, I have no idea for sure). As of writing this, the 24-hour peak is 18,569, so I'm thinking total between all platforms we have around 40 to maybe 50k players.
As a console player(PS5), that's not true. I can turn off cross play any time day or night, weekend or week day and albion is pretty much deserted, 1 to 6 players at most. I can't speak for XBox but most players are not on PS4/5.
As of right now, its 15k online and 22k 24H peak. Its not good if this keeps up. As for the people saying this is just clickbait, i dont think it is. This is the result of the atrocious Season 1 and bad changes.
Im kinda new - almost 1 month playing… and what I feel right now is: for descendants, after getting Ultimate Bunny, Sharen and Hailey. I have no motivation in farming for other descendants when I have all that I need for all content; Bunny-all round general stuff, Sharen- Outpost and Hailey for intercept… sure getting the other ultimate ver is still a goal, but im not motivated enough now cause I know I’ll just be leveling them to 40 then never using them again… Same goes for weapons - After maxing thundercage, enduring legacy, perforator and piercing light… im in no rush getting the other weapons..cause I have all I need to beat the content. IG it’s just how I tend to play these sort of games… i tend to go the most optimized route first then after, I realize there is no point cause I already have the best of the best…Destiny 2 played about 6 months until I stopped, didnt want to buy lightfall so my journey ended there. What kept me going that long was raiding and grandmaster challenges with friends.
It's dying because no multiplayer for invasion missions, Gluttony still one shots you even with max frost/chill resist, and the outfits are .... Fireman and Frog.....
I play TFD daily but usually for 2-3 hours at most in a day. The best trick to ANY F2P game is to take your time with it unless you are a whale and can afford to shell out money to the game. That being said, one of my favorite things about TFD is that even though the grind can be crazy (Took me 50 intercept battles to get ONE 10% drop Enduring Legacy Code), Nothing game breaking is hidden behind a paywall. I have slowly unlocked 3 Ultimates (Bunny, Valby, and Ajax) and working on min/maxing them and the guns I like. Some days I log in, do the two daily quest branches (for points I don't need and the kuiper/XP boost) and go do something else. Some days I'll frind for a weapon or a Descendant or Level a Descendant or farm gold. Still plenty to do in the game
Sad thing about games nowadays is that folks treat them like a job , everything needs to be done as quick as possible with the least amount of effort . The majority doesn't really know how to enjoy a game anymore . What bugs me the most are the ones that constantly pushing for handouts in a F2P game .
Is it dying? No. But has the content run out and left nothing to do? Yes. I wish this game would release more content to keep people engaged. I’m not talking about time-gated content that holds players hostage, but events that make people want to stay in the game. Daily rewards are good, but they only keep people in the game for 30 minutes to an hour before they log out. More events don’t necessarily need to involve fighting; they could include exploration, puzzle-solving, or stealth missions with rewards similar to the current event’s daily tasks. The BP daily challenges don’t encourage people enough once they reach level 96 because there are no rewards after that. The rewards aren’t worth leveling up for, as after level 96, you only get 30 bonus coins per level, and you need three levels in BP to purchase one Fine Adjustment Control Axis. It’s really not worth your time. One Fine Adjustment Control Axis doesn’t have much impact since most people will use 5 or 20 of them. I can speculate that on October 10th, they will release a new descendant, new boss, new gun, and new pieces. People will farm those for seven days, get everything they want, and then run out of content again. They need to increase the amount of content by at least four times to give players more to do for a whole month, not just seven days. Waiting 30 days for just seven days of content is not good. The developers should update the content every two weeks instead of every month. One month is too long, and people might burn out from waiting.
I pretty much did everything the game currently has to offer so right now im taking a break until Ult Freyna comes. I farmed out all weapons including ultimates and leveled up all of them and same for all descendants and ultimates. At this point i will be playing this game only when new content drops, just like i do with WF for instance
Yeah Im just grinding out all the weapons rn and working on ult Ajax. Hope they add the Collosus into the open worlds as public events or something like that
Like the guy said above its clickbait, these games with seasons generally will see player drop. Me personally just hop on for invasions cause i did everything pre season and im sitting on over 100 catalysts and activators about 30.
No hate or anything: You could say that sure but it’s never black and white like people try to make everything because it’s easy that way, regardless how any of us feel games die all the time so I don’t understand personally why people act like it can’t happen? What actually happened is both games were dying and the devs decided to make a better version of their games and the players stopped crying as there’s no longer something to cry abou, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t “dying” like you said it just means it didn’t.. in reality a big problem depending on what it is will slowly eat away at the player base until the only players left are the brain-dead fanboys or the people that will play for a week then drop it, both will take anything and make the game worse as they have no standard for quality. The people who cry about these games are the ones who actually care about them far more than your average player “usually” if they didn’t care they’d just move on instead of complaining and asking for better.
Hey dude, completely agree. I'm still enjoying going for ultimate weapons and descendants. 12 data chips left to get Hailey! Lots of people in game when I log on. Season 1 and invasions has been pretty poor content in my opinion though so can definitely see why numbers have dropped off. Hopefully the upcoming new content will be more fun.
Ayyyyy thats really close! Hope you get her soon. She's amazing, and yeah we'll for sure see a big majority of the player's come back on october 10th, that patch is going to be a banger
I dislike the solo season mechanics. I did the first 2 missions, both were standing in the correct colors & symbols. I said if I had to do this a third time, I would quit. Lo and behold, the next gate or mission was the same mechanics. I aborted and never continued. Too boring for me. Instead, I go farm catalysts and help people beat hard bosses at the same time
17,677 current players at this moment via Steam Charts. Tired of the void shard grind so taking a break for a while. I'll check back in October to see if anything has changed.
Most of the creators rushed though the content, it's normal that the game is dead for them, they have nothing else to do right now, As a casual player i only got 3 ult. Descendants plus hailey and only two of them are builded, working on weapons right now so i got a lot to do before oct 10.
Don't get me wrong is tfd the best game ive ever played no but for something that is free to play i personally love it even tho I'm bored of it at the moment lol
Yeah I just hope Oct 10th the content will be more exciting to play tfd is fun but just running around doing the same thing everyday is making me lost interest right now
I seem to remember it also being said about Wayfinder (not by you but by others) that Wayfinder "will do just fine" while player numbers were dropping and that game died as a live service. I'm personally frustrated by the astronomically low drop chances for the things I want in FD but if the developers can bring the fun factor up and the frustration factor down I think this game will have a better chance at success. I'm not saying it will die otherwise, I'm just saying that the longevity chances will be higher.
My thoughts on the player base dropping is theirs probably a lot of players like myself that have plenty to do in the game. But we just don't enjoy doing those things. For example I'm trying to max dupe and build my enduring legacy but its just a godly awful experience at the moment leveling them. Even with the booster event. I guess put simple its time spent vs reward and I don't feel the time I'm spending is fun or rewarding enough. I'll just go play something else until they update or fix it.
Just my opinion: 1: Game isn’t dying for the people that think that rather, it was a dead game from the beginning people just didn’t realize it, I knew this game was going to fail in about 3/4 months but then.. the devs started fixing stuff and updated it for the players and still are.. devs are trying to make a gacha, add banners and it’s a gacha lol they are slowly moving away from that tho. “People are playing this game for the reason that they think the devs will cook over time” Game is good just not a long term solution for boredom unfortunately. -------------- 2: they think they need more content but they don’t right now, they need to fix the issues that’s actually causing them problems, 1: lack of build quality and diversity for weapons, 2: Boss Bun, Gley, Lepic, Hailey, are showing the true issues, only some characters are truly worth building for all content, the fix is to buff the other characters to Boss bun’s level, then buff enemies to do less damage but take more so that Bunny or one character can’t kill everyone before the team even shows up. Have characters build off each other’s strengths and weaknesses please 🤦🏾♂ 3: start player testing and feedback, 4: remove debuffs, debuff enemies, and rework the system from the ground up, having enemies steal your energy, slow you down, turn your powers off, then hide behind shields is killing the game because you will only want to fight that if you need something from them it’s bad design, 5: the debuffs for missions is bad outright they indirectly nerfed Sharen, Valby, Gley, and weapons overall because having a debuff that makes your weak point and critical not apply means people will just use a different character and lose interest in them, making the stuff you built worthless, we shouldn’t have to wait until October 10 for them the fix Freyna but I understand it. 6: they need to add real endless content because people like myself their real players have literally done most things we’d want to, I say it a lot but people passed 500 hours, passed 800 hours, literally have no reason to play and the devs are not learning from Warframe as much as they should be.
Come on people, why even talk about it! TFD is the it right now! Not going anywhere, and here to stay! I know for a fact all the rumors circulating all come from Warframe & Destiny Simpers that have a thing for Aliens!
The fact that they thought invasions (a mechanic put in the game to bore players into buying the new character) was their season 1 content, speaks volumes about this games future... Just saying.
Bro, they are 3 min missions, 20 min max a day for a week. It was super refreshing to do them and an easy 5million gold without having to do a Valby Run or any of that stuff.
I do hope it doesn't die because I'm still having a blast, even though I unlocked pretty much everything besides Peacemaker (haven't even done molten fortress though I suck at boss gimmicks + pubs) I even tried Warframe and that shit is horrendous... those animations and movements looking like a badly modded Fallout NV or some begginer UE3 project. Can't believe folks say that game is better than TFD lol
This game not dieing it just gonna end up like most game's why play when you literally have done everything or got what you wanted heck i got what i wanted and waiting on new content
Its towards dying at this rate. People said, its seasonable. It peak at season start & drop off....There is barely an uptick at season 1. The next seasons need to be much better or the game will be done within a year.
I loved the game when it first came out and I had story content to do it was so much fun then you reach end game and the game becomes dead in the water totally boring only grinding for no real reason if they added more story content every update then it would be in a different state there is also the lack of unique weapons for a looter shooter everyone uses the same weapons which kind of defeats the purpose.
It's not actually dying but it does get boring when you have upgraded all descendants and weapons just take way to long to upgrade. They need xp increase for weapons.
Nah, the game is not dying but many are leaving it. Ironically some because it's become too easy and some because it is too frustrating and can't get to that point. I am amazed when I see a player with all the cool weapons and maxed out to boot. More power to you.
i really love this game, but currently there is nothing for me to do on the game that's the main reason why I'm not playing, I'm pretty sure the developers are working as hard as they can to put out content but unfortunately is not fast enough. ill be back on the next update for sure tho.
Only thing that can kill this game is Nexon greed, but there are lot of problems that need to be addressed on this game. Problems that season One has already shown, including a terrible season pass and invasion.
I mean we are in a pretty dead point of the season and the fact that 30k people are playing is not bad. On October 10th we are gonna get alot of content so I’m sure those numbers will rise up again and thats how live service games are they fluctuate overtime. So I would definitely not consider this game dead because honestly nexon has been doing a surprisingly good job at updating the game with small or big quality of life changes.
My biggest complaint about tfd is the damn drop rates on rolls... Done most of what i wanted but now i've decided to get enduring legacy. Got 2, working on 3rd. I cannot get a 20% drop rate blueprint. It's been 24 rolls already. Got 2 energy activators, 3 viessa codes and a bunch of albions and gleys... but that 20% blueprint NEVER drops for me. Adding that to farming shards to open, it's been a reaaally boring grind. That's what is ruining it for me. After 250h it's getting frustrating. And i had to roll 35 times to get one of ult bunny blueprints as well. It was the last thing i grinded before deciding on enduring... before that, it was just normal'ish. Now it's a struggle😒
720 game since launch and I'm still learning certain things on my own I do have a few content creator so I subscribe to the game has great potential and I see this game getting better
Have ya made and leveled every Ultimate weapon? Let alone every Descendant ? Played missions with each of the above on hard or normal ? Helped other players score up ? Had hours of laughter with buddies of other players ? If not...don't say the game has nothing. I should touch grass yes, but others need to stop complaining. Play hard Champions !! Peace all.
We have a 10% retention from a massively successful launch, I think the game is kinda healthy atm, the chart shows we have a consistent 25k people gaming, that to me is not bad.
all MMO games die when the games do not respect XP, it has been only 2~3 months since release, and people already maxed out, what do you expect? all MMO games were fun when it may take 20 years to 200 years to reach the max level for normal 1~2 hours a day play, example. perfect world MMO died when the company gave free max XP to all players after a year, and blade and soul MMO died when NCsoft gave free maxed gears to all players after a year, because they hiked up the bosses HP by 20 times ~ 200 times more
If they don't do something about the piss poor drop rates and the last 4 intercept battles, locking ultimate weapons behind colossi like gluttony and death stalker which most players haven't got through, and nerfs, it will.
i prefer to obtain characters and weapons, improve ur characters using RNG based in grinding and farm than fukin gatcha, gatcha is all about whales paying for getting better than play for it ill keep playing, when they start to do everything to make players to pay to get things done thats will be the end
It's not dying although all the haters will be saying it is, the numbers have simply dropped off for the time being. TFD came out like a bull out of the gates and it's popularity was and still is due to the game having quite a few good things going for it. The grinding side of things brought out the sweat in most people and like yourself they have completed all or most the content. So I think there are just alot of people just waiting for Oct 10. Lastly the game is still in it's infancy so time will tell.
drop rates are OK. Ive got everything, all the ultimates so far, a lot of people have an ulti. I grinded for ulti bunny on the preaseason pre first patch and that was pain, took me a whole dedicated week to unlock her. Now i pretty much unlock everyhting in 2 days or as a collateral.
Im taking a break to fill in my borderlands craving atm. Ive done over 500 hours in tfd so i need to do something else for a bit before getting back into the grind
When the game is also on Xbox and Playstation I think a steam player count of between 30 and 50 thousand concurrent players is more then healthy. It could be assumed that each of those platforms has roughly the same if not more concurrent players then we have on Steam but assuming it is exactly the same on all three platforms that still puts us at 90 thousand concurrent players. Also concurrent players is not total players either as just because only 30k players seem to be playing at any one time there easily could be a couple hundred thousand unique players logging in on steam on a daily basis. If only to spend half an hour to an hour grinding some materials, working on opening some amorphs, or setting something to craft. Also the content is taking less time to run as people get stronger builds and they make content easier so you dont have to spend as much time in the game every day as you would have had to before. So there is less overlap with the true number of unique players playing at one time. When the game launched I would often spend 3 to 6 hours after work each day and about 8 to 10 hours on off days playing. Now I only play for maybe an hour or two after work and like 5 hours on my days off as I have all of the ultimate descendants now, am not bothering with non ultimates, and can only bring myself to spend so much time farming for more copies of my weapons any given day. And now that I can get from 1 to 40 in like half an hour I can get a couple levels a day after work without staying up too late.
TFD is doing x100 better than a live-service game set in the Batman Arkham universe. and even that game is not dying/dead. Though I wish Nexon would improve some aspects of TFD, such as Shops, Battle passes, skins and skin prices (regional prices are ridiculously high. We're not making US$ here in east europe.).
After i tried invasion, i find that the game mechanics killed the game. Unfortunately, they listen to streamer like paul tassi and etc that complaint abt lack of game mechanics. Its so boring even after nerf, the game mechanics is too toxic. This destony 2 cant gain any new players is becos of complicated raid mechanics. This game mechanics is really gatekeeping against casual and new players.
Yep i agree. It seems what a stretched out launch like this does is kills hype for the game and season. So it's probably better to release as much as you can on launch to create hype and give players abundance of content. Sure it means that there will be draught of content later on, but i think it's better overall in a long run. this will at least leave players wanting more rather than being burned out and bored out.
People say "X game is dying" all the time. They said it about Warframe for a decade (still do), and they said it about Destiny (which is slowly killing itself). While TFD isn't dying per se, the devs DO need to make some rapid progress/changes to maintain interest in the game. They need to start taking pages out of Warframe and Destiny's notes if they want to keep going
Problem with the October 10th patch is the timing. Destiny's new season is starting on the 4th and they're getting a new dungeon on the 11th. Meanwhile, more than likely, Warframe will be getting a massive new update during that timeframe as well. The October 10th update really has to blow people's socks off or TFD will fail to retain their players again since the game's direct competitors are also getting major updates.
Appreciate this video. I did forget about the majority of the complaints that they fixed quickly. Besides the october 10th update is there anything coming in December you know of by any chance?
Yeah! Were getting mega dungeons, new descendant, new weapon, new season mechanic, a utility companion (i assume for picking up stuff) new skins, and a new story. They got a lot of good stuff cookin. Hopefully now that they have a bit of experience with season launches the next one is gonna be done a lot better
I will say tho that H. unlocking system is conceptually bad. Horrible even. It's an rng system with diminishing returns where end of a grind feels much worse than beginning or middle of it and to seal the deal it's also time gated. Unless you have good luck it's infuriating. It's not suitable for a major content like a new descendant.
I have been getting abit bored of it, my problem is i keep thinking whats the end game you only need one to three descendants really a bosser, sharen and a farmer😂 so why bother grinding for more even though i have😂, so ive slowed up playing it and on the steam numbers you cant really go by that ive noticed alot more console players than pc players.
I think they need a 'real reason' to obtain Ultimate Weapons/Descendents. I loved Outriders, but there was no real End-Game, past Obtaining Gear. It takes a lot of time to upgrade your Descendents and Weapons in TFD... so unless they add content which motivates the players to obtain Descendents/Weapons, the game will inevitably lose interest.
I think they've done pretty good addressing that tbh, giving 5h boosts out each day and buffing dungeon xp massively, you can pretty much level your character in a few dungeon runs to 40, the weapon prof is lacking a bit but i still think its reasonable, it wouldn't be any fun if you could max a character and weapon within a couple hours, As far as the content I do agree that Id like to see more than just descendants and weapons, some fun game modes and open world boss fights would go hard. I think they'll get there, also I really wanna see the new system they were talking about with base descendants merging with ultimates, i wonder what thats gonna look like
The October update it’s really gonna do much. The only actual content is a new boss and a new ultimate nobody will like more than likely. Some of the players are going to come back like 50-60k peak and after a week it’s going to drop again and everyone has to wait for the mega dungeons in 2 months which going off the dungeons that are already in the game probably are going to suck
I wouldnt say its dying but the grind and rng is horrible, specially the outposts, a lot of the endgame stuff right now just isnt fun ... i like it but ill just wait until they add more stuff to do... also plz let us change our colors on default skins and make the colors character bound at least instead of skin slot bound ..
What they said about warframe the game has a variety of distractions i think is where their main flaw is with the game if you dont wanna do the 1 or 2 types of mission grind then you are fucked even customization adds a factor of distraction alot spend hours on how their frame looks and first decendant wont ever have that neither does it have base building/decorating or other seperate modes that are for fun like endless survivals or minigames theres also no player trading or a reason for having the stuff you grinded for no return on time investment and i dont see them adding that because nexon and monetisation but who knows maybe they pull a 180 go crazy on improvements i feel like the things they NEED to do are the things they wont ever do because fairness doesnt appeal to nexon no matter how much the devs wanna try make a good game and thats what holds them back. Maybe im crazy... thoughts?
Well have to wait and see, personally id love if they added that, I'm not sure exactly what its gonna look like but they said they are removing outposts timers and making them horde missions that just keep spawning, as far as the customization I agree, I think you should be able to just unlock paints and then you have that paint, as well as be able to paint your base descendants for sure, and I think it would be really cool for them to add special game modes for end game that you can just kinda turn your brain off and grind endlessly with no down time. I think well have to see the improvements added as the game keeps going, the reason why I think it has a lot of potential is because we have a REALLY good dev team, and if Nexon does get out of their way (What i mean by this is just let the devs cook, and lower the monetization a little bit with the paints and such) I think they can make a massively successful game. It's still in its infant stages and the fact it kept 30k players on a sunday (lets assume console is the same, which its for sure more) so 100k players when invasions and hailey grind were a miss for a lot of people, id say thats a good sign, especially since were at the end of the patch cycle and still have those numbers. I think once oct 10th hits it will be pretty massive, because a lot of people consider that the true season 1 launch date. In one of the trailer's we saw dead bride (i think?) roaming around in the open world, I also think this would be a really fun idea to implement world bosses, there is so much they can do, we will just have to wait and see what route they go
The problem is absolutely content. The first season added content shouldnt have been the dungeons in reverse. I like the gameplay but i hate how people use the TnA as selling point, its not much and the cosmetics are still very limited. The invasion puzzles are fine. The bosses are bigger pains than the colossi though.
Its the reactor farming and the blueprints for the catalysts the that I am getting fed up with, I've maxed out 7 characters and 7 weapons and I am tired of getting the same stupid blueprint parts on the same characters. They need to put the real percentages up, the random in the rng generator they use isn't random. That and all the people I know stopped playing.
Great video first up but i have to slightly disagree with you with certain aspect match making is starting to become a issue for me, very rarely i get a full team for dungeons as a solo player .Mind you it is the peak time of the year for gaming with so many games coming out that could be the issue .
Im still enjoying the game. I just played steady and not really faemed for anything in particular. Still got loads to get. Ive only got 5 descendants (still no ultimate) a couple of maxed out weapons and mastery 16. Not completed all the collossi or invasions. I came from playing the divsion after several years. Now thats a dead game with awful grind for perfect. Plus the devs havent got a clue and dont care about their player base.
200 hrs trying to unlock Ult Viessa and still not a single component out of the 4 special ones you need, kind of killed it for me. I did spend some money in the game, since it was a lot of fun at first but the grind is just ridiculous I also was so focus on Ult V I didn't even bother with Hailey, and I don't care for the invasion shenanigans either, tried once didn't even go past the first area as I hated it and never went back.
IM sorry but I don't believe in that, you had to be extremely unlucky to grind 200+h and not getting her, I've grind her parts in 3 days, worst drop from her took 40 openings but that's it. With 200h I already had ult valby and Bunny. I'm currently at 280h+ no money spent, all female characters unlocked.
If you farm certain things and not switch it up and do a lot of boss fights in hard (I mean crazy amounts), you don't get the rare stuff. I'm at 460h MR22 with just 2 parts missing for ult gley and then I have all ult, until Freya next month. I'm only f2p and with 14 descendants done, I need to start paying for space if I want more.
The platform missions are horrible. There's a few, as a newer player, I was stuck on a bit. Thankfully on 2 I got help for people who were very good at it so I could continue the story mission. The grind for items is also a bit ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I get it's free, or can be, but some of its a touch much.
Its difficult to find the goldielock spot where there is a rewarding system that makes a game like this rewarding... I have everything, and no reason to play atm, but are definatly going to jump back in when freyna comes along. I think they should concentrate on persistant endgame content, such as power uogrades or extremeltøy rare cosmetic drops or something that makes the content thst is there worth playing. Tfd, is fun... for me, but not fun enough to play if I get no sense of acheivement or rewards ...
What I found funny is a lot of people were comparing this game to Once Human and ppl said TFD is better and that Once Human will die in a month... now Once Human maintains over 3 times the TFD player base on Steam. It really shocks me coz TFD got new content in the form of Season 1 while Once Human doesn't have new content at all, they just added a hard mode version of the launch content... wtf r 100k ppl playing still?😂 New Once Human content comes next month!
@@taoday118 you genuinely think Once Human has over 3x more players coz it released a month later? Also it didn't release a month later, it released on July 9th while TFD released on June 30th. A whole 10 days later😂
If a game has a dedicated player base I don’t think it can ever really die. The Division 2 being a great example of this. Players supported that game even when Ubisoft gave up on it. TFD just came out in July and Nexon is still supporting the game and releasing new content for it, so it’s way too early to be saying that it’s dying. And at the same time I don’t think any update or new content will bring players back in bunches and bring in new players in droves. The grind is the game, and either you like that, or at least accept that and find something about the game you enjoy. So as long as Nexon keeps supporting the game they’ll have a loyal player base that keeps playing it.
The answer is yes... But also no. Yes because numbers are down and just looking at other games that have season passes players tend to stop playing towards the middle and end of a season, and the lack of content in both pre-season and season 1, the game is clearly dying out. But also no because it's still a pretty new game in a genre that's pretty crowded so a dip in players is normal, and we also don't know how many players are on consoles and aren't just Game Pass installs.
@@bulthaosen1169 Reread. No where did I include Warframe. I said "other games that have season passes". Know what has a season pass? Destiny 2, Apex, Fortnite, and so on. Warframe is not the only game out there in the looter shooter genre, or even the 3PS genre. Also, on a fundamental level Nightwave is the seasonal pass, as it's structured to be a pass that lasts for a certain amount of time, has unique rewards in it, and has challenges to level it up. The only reason people don't consider it as such is because Nightwave is free. But it is very much structured to be a seasonal pass.
if a game has -98.69% gain.. specially on live service is never a good signs specially on a game focused on coop. once human a game that can be played solo has -53.23% gain on same time period btw. and considering this is nexon. the grim reaper of games. the danger side doubles. and the comment section defends nexon on theres nothing to do in game is wild to me. if they didnt have open world i would say you are correct but nah.. bounty system on month 2 would have been perfect.. but they want minimum viable product with just sexy skins to boost revenue and not gameplay.
I still have a lot to do as I dont have unlock yet all descendants, and it keeps me in themgame for this grind, but damn mate, these infiltrations puzles and mechanics are so stupid and shielded bosses at the end are so nuts and I wont play this.
There is no diversity in this game one character is so wildly overpowered compared to the rest that there is just no point if you arent playing bunny. So the people who came for the other 16 characters just left
On average 16,000 players it's dropping down lower and lower every month
From 227k average to 18k average its already dead.
now its on 5-7k players lmao
@@darthvocrum5719No. It isnt dead
@@Mrd1984 That's weird, I rarely have to wait a full minute for a team, and I have never seen Albion empty ever.
@@Mrd1984 idk I always get a little frustrated because I'll queue up to an intercept and think "ok maybe I'll check on crafting or maybe I'll cook up a catalyst while I wait" and I can't take two steps before I get sent into the rice fields
BIGGEST Issue is THIS: Putting 2 different rewards on the same dungeon (on hard). THAT makes the player base split into "50/50".
@@guidorussoheck2100 Hmm, I didn't even think bout that.
I just want to paint the default skin of the descendants and also praying that paints become permament at some point, paying 2 dollars to paint the shoelaces of a skin is nightmare fuel.
Hailey grind made me stop playing the game. Terrible patch literally killed the game for me.
Im kinda new - almost 1 month playing… and what I feel right now is:
for descendants, after getting Ultimate Bunny, Sharen and Hailey. I have no motivation in farming for other descendants when I have all that I need for all content; Bunny-all round general stuff, Sharen- Outpost and Hailey for intercept… sure getting the other ultimate ver is still a goal, but im not motivated enough now cause I know I’ll just be leveling them to 40 then never using them again…
Same goes for weapons - After maxing thundercage, enduring legacy, perforator and piercing light… im in no rush getting the other weapons..cause I have all I need to beat the content.
Get a life dude
RIP
I pretty much did everything the game currently has to offer so right now im taking a break until Ult Freyna comes. I farmed out all weapons including ultimates and leveled up all of them and same for all descendants and ultimates. At this point i will be playing this game only when new content drops, just like i do with WF for instance
As a Destiny 2 player, I got use to drip fed content very early on, I'm just just casually working on guns and descendants until the October patch
Yeah Im just grinding out all the weapons rn and working on ult Ajax. Hope they add the Collosus into the open worlds as public events or something like that
I still got a lot to do on this game 😂 I can never be bored till it’s all completed
I remember seeing the same thing about Warframe in 2015 when I started playing, "Warframe is dying" and it's still there 10 years later. 😅
Welcome to learning what clickbait is
Like the guy said above its clickbait, these games with seasons generally will see player drop. Me personally just hop on for invasions cause i did everything pre season and im sitting on over 100 catalysts and activators about 30.
lol right
@@vengeful8gaming776 u must be a robot because I have 1200 hours and still have more builds to make
No hate or anything:
You could say that sure but it’s never black and white like people try to make everything because it’s easy that way, regardless how any of us feel games die all the time so I don’t understand personally why people act like it can’t happen?
What actually happened is both games were dying and the devs decided to make a better version of their games and the players stopped crying as there’s no longer something to cry abou, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t “dying”
like you said it just means it didn’t.. in reality a big problem depending on what it is will slowly eat away at the player base until the only players left are the brain-dead fanboys or the people that will play for a week then drop it, both will take anything and make the game worse as they have no standard for quality.
The cope is real lol
The game is losing the casuals that tolerated the drop rates because the only season 1 content aside from Hailey is hardcore, solo-only invasions.
It went down to 10k players - game is drying out
Most of the creators rushed though the content, it's normal that the game is dead for them, they have nothing else to do right now, As a casual player i only got 3 ult.

Invasions suck especially hailys rescue mission
Just my opinion:
1: Game isn’t dying for the people that think that rather, it was a dead game from the beginning people just didn’t realize it, I knew this game was going to fail in about 3/4 months but then.. the devs started fixing stuff and updated it for the players and still are.. devs are trying to make a gacha, add banners and it’s a gacha lol they are slowly moving away from that tho.
“People are playing this game for the reason that they think the devs will cook over time”
Game is good just not a long term solution for boredom unfortunately.
--------------
2: they think they need more content but they don’t right now, they need to fix the issues that’s actually causing them problems,
1: lack of build quality and diversity for weapons,
2: Boss Bun, Gley, Lepic, Hailey, are showing the true issues,
only some characters are truly worth building for all content,
the fix is to buff the other characters to Boss bun’s level, then buff enemies to do less damage but take more so that Bunny or one character can’t kill everyone before the team even shows up. Have characters build off each other’s strengths and weaknesses please 🤦🏾♂
3: start player testing and feedback,
4: remove debuffs, debuff enemies, and rework the system from the ground up,
having enemies steal your energy, slow you down, turn your powers off, then hide behind shields is killing the game because you will only want to fight that if you need something from them it’s bad design,
5: the debuffs for missions is bad outright they indirectly nerfed Sharen, Valby, Gley, and weapons overall because having a debuff that makes your weak point and critical not apply means people will just use a different character and lose interest in them, making the stuff you built worthless, we shouldn’t have to wait until October 10 for them the fix Freyna but I understand it.
Yet you're clearly a tfd simper
Seems like this is your first Nexon game
The fact that they thought invasions (a mechanic put in the game to bore players into buying the new character) was their season 1 content, speaks volumes about this games future...
Just saying.
Bro, they are 3 min missions, 20 min max a day for a week. It was super refreshing to do them and an easy 5million gold without having to do a Valby Run or any of that stuff.
@@guidorussoheck2100 hey. I'm glad they bring you joy and entertainment.

yeah but i already put 500hs, its my fault, i cant complain.
Game has 8k players , shits dead
Does the game at least have a campaign or PvE? Or it is completely multiplayer?
I do hope it doesn't die because I'm still having a blast, even though I unlocked pretty much everything besides Peacemaker (haven't even done molten fortress though I suck at boss gimmicks + pubs)
I even tried Warframe and that shit is horrendous... those animations and movements looking like a badly modded Fallout NV or some begginer UE3 project.
Their going to make as much money as they can until the bottom falls out.
This is funny asf to see in my recommendation right as me and my buddy are gettin into it
I mean we are in a pretty dead point of the season and the fact that 30k people are playing is not bad. On October 10th we are gonna get alot of content so I’m sure those numbers will rise up again and thats how live service games are they fluctuate overtime. So I would definitely not consider this game dead because honestly nexon has been doing a surprisingly good job at updating the game with small or big quality of life changes.
The number dropped lol
Its less than 10k now on steam?
What about globally?
720 game since launch and I'm still learning certain things on my own I do have a few content creator so I subscribe to the game has great potential and I see this game getting better
Have ya made and leveled every Ultimate weapon? Let alone every Descendant ? Played missions with each of the above on hard or normal ? Helped other players score up ? Had hours of laughter with buddies of other players ? If not...don't say the game has nothing. I should touch grass yes, but others need to stop complaining. Play hard Champions !! Peace all.
Almost.Got all ult descendants and all ult weapons but one.
Competing with sparking zero gonna be rough
We have a 10% retention from a massively successful launch, I think the game is kinda healthy atm, the chart shows we have a consistent 25k people gaming, that to me is not bad.
Puzzles are good in content like invasions, on a boss fight not so much.
all MMO games die when the games do not respect XP, it has been only 2~3 months since release, and people already maxed out, what do you expect? all MMO games were fun when it may take 20 years to 200 years to reach the max level for normal 1~2 hours a day play, example. perfect world MMO died when the company gave free max XP to all players after a year, and blade and soul MMO died when NCsoft gave free maxed gears to all players after a year, because they hiked up the bosses HP by 20 times ~ 200 times more
its official, the game is dead, from 300k players to literally 5-7k lmao told y'all!
It isnt dead.
If they don't do something about the piss poor drop rates and the last 4 intercept battles, locking ultimate weapons behind colossi like gluttony and death stalker which most players haven't got through, and nerfs, it will.
lol this is below 10k now
i prefer to obtain characters and weapons, improve ur characters using RNG based in grinding and farm than fukin gatcha, gatcha is all about whales paying for getting better than play for it
ill keep playing, when they start to do everything to make players to pay to get things done thats will be the end
The drop rates have gotten worse
drop rates are OK. Ive got everything, all the ultimates so far, a lot of people have an ulti. I grinded for ulti bunny on the preaseason pre first patch and that was pain, took me a whole dedicated week to unlock her. Now i pretty much unlock everyhting in 2 days or as a collateral.
I've been on a break since last week decided to return on Oct 10... tho i should be getting the free 5M gold but just too lazy to do it
“i put 600 hours into this game its boring and theres nothing to do.” No shit
Quit this game 3 weeks in its terrible there is so much that needs fixing and giving half naked skins doesnt make up for it
Nexon's microtransactions and never-quenced thirdt for Korean whales are killing this game. Its got 8k players average now.
😂 6k players on steam game is dead
Six months after Genshin Impact was releaeed people were crying, "it's a dying game"
How did that work out
They did the same after AAAA Skull&Bones came out 🤣🤣🤣
Yep i agree.
Really hope it wont die. I havent enjoyed a new game as much as tfd in a long time.
I think they'll get there, also I really wanna see the new system they were talking about with base descendants merging with ultimates, i wonder what thats gonna look like
Buff drop rates of code breakers 2 days been farming had 2
The October update it’s really gonna do much. The only actual content is a new boss and a new ultimate nobody will like more than likely.
Some of the players are going to come back like 50-60k peak and after a week it’s going to drop again and everyone has to wait for the mega dungeons in 2 months which going off the dungeons that are already in the game probably are going to suck
I wouldnt say its dying but the grind and rng is horrible, specially the outposts, a lot of the endgame stuff right now just isnt fun ... i like it but ill just wait until they add more stuff to do... also plz let us change our colors on default skins and make the colors character bound at least instead of skin slot bound ..
issue is there's no social feature ingame like clan/guild.
In one of the trailer's we saw dead bride (i think?) roaming around in the open world, I also think this would be a really fun idea to implement world bosses, there is so much they can do, we will just have to wait and see what route they go
Players did not go up.
Layer upon layer of grinds and RNG.
I want to play the game but i have a potato pc. It can, however, run warframe so i just stick with that.
I did spend some money in the game, since it was a lot of fun at first but the grind is just ridiculous
I also was so focus on Ult V I didn't even bother with Hailey, and I don't care for the invasion shenanigans either, tried once didn't even go past the first area as I hated it and never went back.
There's no way that's possible. I unlocked all ult, but Viessa in
IM sorry but I don't believe in that, you had to be extremely unlucky to grind 200+h and not getting her, I've grind her parts in 3 days, worst drop from her took 40 openings but that's it.
That is a skill issue bud… I could get on and farm her in a day or two.
@@alaskayoung3413I’m not taking ops side, but RNG is a skill issue, bud? Lmao
Doesn't once human have pvp? I think many of it's players are from ark or rust.
Once Human has more players at this point because it was released a month after TFD
@@taoday118 you genuinely think Once Human has over 3x more players coz it released a month later? Also it didn't release a month later, it released on July 9th while TFD released on June 30th. A whole 10 days later😂
@@bulthaosen1169 it has both PvP and PvE servers. Pick your poison
The game is a never ending farm and craft and wait.😂
Lol invasions sucked for me I flat out refuse to do them. Have me stand still in a fast paced fps that's a no thank you.
Warframe doesn't have seasons though
Game was awesome till they added puzzle dungeons then locked Hailey behind pay wall or grind fer a month to get her
