Does anyone know why they fly in pairs? later for the game flyover i saw the same two circleing the mountains again but only one executed the flyover

They are on a training mission . One will do the parade and the other will do the rose bowl . They fly from whiteman for the parade and fly off the coast and back for the bowl and RTB to Whiteman
