Here we speak with Shaun who talks about how him and his brother ended up losing everyting during Covid and started living in the tent city next to the Shell in Sea Point. He also talks about the eviction process and how many homeless people are still living in the area after this process took place.
Excellent questioning!
Thank youuuu 🌈 🙏
My prayers are shelter's will be built for these homeless people its very sad 🙏🙏🙏
They should try New Hope SA in Muizenburg
Please tell me more about New Hope SA.
please tell us about new hope
Something doesn't add up here. They left Saldanha in the brother's car, to come to the mom's funeral. A water pipe doesn't cost R24K, import or not. Did they also lose their home in Saldanha? What was the plan, just come to Cape Town and live in the car? I don't get it.
This all happened just as covid started and they were not able to get home I assume. I will post a video of Shaun's brother next which speaks of the same event so let's hope it clarifies.
@@HomelessinCapeTown-tg5fd that makes sense. My dad lived in Langebaan then. I took a chance and drove there, there was nobody on the road, not even cops. Look forward to the follow-up. Thank you for sharing and showing us these poor peoples' plight.
it's not a homelessness problem. It's a drug (sickness) or mental health problems.
How do you know that is the case with this particular individual?
Not everyone who is homeless has drug or mental problems.
@davidsonofyisrael: Not at all. What have you found to be the other reasons people become homeless?
@@HomelessinCapeTown-tg5fd Bad choices, circumstances, marriage break-ups, unemployment etc
If you could propose solutions to the homelessness problem in Cape Town what would they be?
Shame it sounds like he has just had really bad luck, and I can imagine it's not so nice going to safe spaces if they are going to treat you like a criminal all the time, even if you go to the bathroom, it sounds so negative. Some backpackers offer accommodation in exchange for a few hours of work, maybe perhaps an option he could look into?
That is a great suggestion thank you! Do you maybe know which ones offer this? Could maybe start a type of partnership Programme.
@@HomelessinCapeTown-tg5fd I'll pop you an email with the details
Thank you 😊
The sad thing is that living on the street is preferable to staying in a shelter.
Yes that was quite surprising. Not sure whether it speaks of conditions in the shelter or the difficulty of transition from the freedom of street life to the seeming rigidity of shelter life or something else.
😢😢🙏🙏🙏
Go ro a warmer city
I hope he can make that change. Thank you for the comment 💚 🙏
Ya, shame man.
