My experience with buying used bikes differs somewhat from what you are seeing here. If I were to pull out a compression gauge and then try to pull a plug most sellers would tell me to pack up and get lost ASAP. As far as telling me what is wrong, well, that never happens. Many used bikes will not start since they have been sitting for extended periods of time. All you can do is look it over as best you can and make an offer if you feel it's worth something.
Before pulling that top end, why not try spraying some penetrating oil down those cylinders to see if the penetrating oil can free up some potential stuck rings.. sometimes those rings come back with a little run time. It’s always worth trying.
I got a 1996 Suzuki GSXR 750 project going on at the same time as my ongoing(as I ride it) Honda Supermagna! Only found you yesterday and enjoying the videos a lot :) People definitely get over confidant. My gsxr was sat for 13 years before I got it so lots of work!
THAT IS WHERE I HAVE MINE LISTED AND WHERE I BUY FORM AS WELL. I will not buy any without clear title. My qualifications are; has it been wrecked, or layed down hard, are all the parts with it, is the title in your name? I just want to make sure it is a good frame, engine running or not running is a concern but not a deal breaker, if I want it for myself, I most likely would rebuild it anyway, if I want it for a flipper, I want it to have descent compression and turning over, not seized up. I try to find lowest possible miles. Most of the time I replace the tires, unless I am going to ride it and they are decent and holding air. When I sell them I put new rubber on them for the customer. Unless stated as is. I want a straight frame and clear title, then I will build my own from scratch some times as well if it is a collectors item. Yep, time for new rings and hone out the cylinders.
Those 750 engines will often wet-sump when they sit a while, i.e., the oil drains down from the tank into the engine. Doesn't hurt anything, but adding oil to one that may start could get very messy when it pumps it all back to the tank.
I believe an untitled bike 500ccs or less and over 25 years old doesn’t need to be titled in Vermont, so what most people do is register in Vermont through the loophole and then transfer registration. dmvs have to accept registration transfers from non-titling states.
The exhaust on this Honda is a Kirker and these were the most tunable with three baffles from small and quite to full comp and loud. You have to reject the pilots and main jets in the carbs and equalize them jet them until the bike does not bog on a full throttle fast twist with light brown color on the plugs and she will rip like you never thought possible as was the case with the Kawasaki’s we used to race tune and we could advance the camshaft timing and we even beat the Vance and Hines exhaust bike one time with one of our bikes in FL back in the 80s. Great exhaust system even the tunable super trap that fit the kerker worked well. I wonder if you know just how good of a tunable exhaust system you have plus I would put mikuni carbs with reverse flow jets on this bike as they are way more reliable than those stock carbs imo. Looking forward to see what you end up doing with this bike.
What’s up brother? Just found a Honda Kindred! I’ll be rebuilding a few V4 Magnas and Sabres on my channel. Look forward to buying, wrenching and riding along with you!
Thanks for sharing! If you’re not able to remedy the bouncing effect of your video lightning , you will find painting your walls gray will fix the problem
The new build is pretty sweet, dispite the engine work. Please, please don't make all the bikes look the same. I am begging you to change it up with this new build. Other than that you are quite fantastic.
Great video. I've had similar lighting issues with my GoPro when shooting in my basement, it seems to just be a glare issue. Try adding a makeshift lens hood with some cardboard/tape. That seemed to fix the issue in my case.
You know take this for what it's worth but I watch a lot of these UA-cam videos some guys have a clue and some don't maybe a little more technical than you but not by much but they have no personality you my friend are easy to watch I really love how you get excited when something pops off gives me hope for the younger generation keep them coming I'll be watching mind you I'm only 53 but you still have quite a few years on you but you do a lot of the same things that I do figuring out the problem good job kid
Yes, there is another type of vintage bike. Since CB’s are now overvalued due to demand from hipster millennial tech drones trying to go analog (much like air-cooled Porsches), Kaws, Suzis, and Yamis are better values. Plus, starting with the Z1, Kaws have been dusting Hondas for kicks, and they look better too. With a few tasteful mods a KZ-anything looks sexy, you don’t have to chop it up to fix the styling. Every CB I’ve seen that hasn’t been hacked into a cafe racer has been hideous. Love the channel, brother. God bless Texas.
Hey Irishrover - nice to see you here. I used to enjoy the Honda CB 500X videos you used to post on your channel (being an owner of a 2015 model here in SW Australia) - some beautiful scenery you used to share, great commentary - and of course great to see your motorcycle. Are you still riding it? This young bloke (Octane) is really clever and personable - blows me away at what he can do.
Great breakdown and insights, thanks! I am curious, with you flipping experience, what value range do you think you would resell this after a typical cafe remodel? And do you find it hard to find customers who buy a completed cafe style bike because they tend to be projects people want to say they did themselves?
I am new to the channel since yesterday, been watching for hours. Love it. Want to start a project with a KZ750 1982, what do you think of that? Also, what would be a good compression level per cylinder on that model year? Thanks and I am going back to watch more vid!
Is there a way, a formula, a video to watch, to see how to get an after-market carb that will fit your bike on a bike that is totally missing it's carb? (a single carb bike) And I want a modern carb, not trying to find the original.
Hi, im looking at a 1977 Honda 750 Four K. Can I talk to you so I know what to look for specifically. Its been parked for atleast 30 years out of the weather, im 25 its been there for as long as i can remember. Its all original with some accessories.
Are you going to be selling that seat. I'm in the UK. Please don't cafe racer it, hows about turning it into a chopper, as these sohc Honda's were as popular as the Harley's . I've seen some amazing 750 chops.
Most sellers are honest, but if not, the way they scam people is by removing one thing, and then they say it will run once it is replaced, (carb, throttle cable, etc) but in reality, the engine is total crap.
Before buying anything please take what ever it is your looking at purchasing to a professional. 2 months ago I had a guy bring me a “project bike” he purchased. The bike in question was an early 80’s KZ750 with KZ650 carbs that will not work the cheap pod filters flange blocked the various ports on the carbs and the carbs were filled with rust because the owner painted over a tank that was filled with rust. The electrical system was chopped up and grounding out and they installed a lithium ion battery but not the 245 dollar voltage regulator rectifier that stabilizes the current so it doesn’t get over charged. His total bill including a valve adjustment some of the valves has less than .0001 to zero clearance and a set of carbs that could run the bike totaled over 5600 dollars. To do the job right. On the surface you would have seen a new chain and sprockets pretty paint and all that but not noticed what a pro does and that’s forks with worn guides and carbs that would work well if at all. You would notice the shine and bling which lends credibility to fantastical story you’ll be given that all it needs is a car clean and fresh fuel. Take it to a pro. If your in the Colorado Springs area or just want to have a pro build you the bike of your dreams and spare you a nightmare give us a holla at Moto-Tech In Colorado Springs. mototechcolorado.com/ mototechcolorado.com/
koga soldier Years ago I was thinking should I be a stripper or a motorcycle tech, either way I have what it take to do the job and absolutely no shame. I went with motorcycles cause I make more money and keep my dignity. Anyway, thanks for noticing my shameless plug and calling me it in it sending all who are following this video another chance to see my shameless plug. BTW I’ll be coming out with some content if my own but it’s mostly tops for pros.
J G I’m actually leaving the powersports Industry this July, it’s been a crazy 19 years but I was injured and on August 7 I have to have my left leg amputated. Not an easy decision but I’ll be better off in the long run. So this is going to severe limit my being a stripper, while I’m sure some guys are into that it’s really a niche. Don’t know what I’ll do, probably get masters in architecture to go with my Bachelors of architecture. That way I have 2 degrees I’m not using.
Thanks for some helpful tips. I’m currently working on my GSXR 1000 project ua-cam.com/video/Rq4ucW2LwNc/v-deo.html But I’ve got a Hayabusa, that I can’t go slow on, so I’m considering swopping it for a ‘78-‘80 Suzuki GS 1000, to maybe try a brat or flat tracker build, so, again, thanks for the helpful tips. And keep up the great videos!
I have a 2002 Aprilia RSV1000R with 20K that has not been wrecked but has sat up for about 5 years now. It is the Troy Bayliss replica and is a R model with a full Ohlins suspension and steering damper and Oz wheels. Email me at philamar12@yahoo.com and I can show you some pics and tell you the history
Love seeing listings that literally just say "motorcycle"

I’d really appreciate a video on the top end strip & rebuild, similar to the carb strip, top job sir
Me too
Yes!
Ditto
Love seeing the content, no matter what it is! Glad to see the business grow and follow along as you build it!
Nice find Taylor. Can't wait to see her finished.
Before pulling that top end, why not try spraying some penetrating oil down those cylinders to see if the penetrating oil can free up some potential stuck rings.. sometimes those rings come back with a little run time. It’s always worth trying.
For the age of that bike im super impressed with the lack of rust ! the wheel guards look close to pristine
Great information for someone looking to work on old bikes
I’m about to buy my first bike, a H seven fifty, so this video was very much appreciated,
Also the cleanliness of the bike is important. If you get a nasty old 2 stroke, you’ll spend hours on hours just cleaning it
I got a 1996 Suzuki GSXR 750 project going on at the same time as my ongoing(as I ride it) Honda Supermagna! Only found you yesterday and enjoying the videos a lot :)

Awesome info. Appreciate you sharing. One of the best channels on UA-cam.

Find a 74 Honda GL_1000 Goldwing Limited. It's pretty rare, so good luck. Jay Leno has one, so you may be able to look at one there.
I believe an untitled bike 500ccs or less and over 25 years old doesn’t need to be titled in Vermont, so what most people do is register in Vermont through the loophole and then transfer registration. dmvs have to accept registration transfers from non-titling states.
Thought process, yes. Smashing video. Again.
Hahaha oh my God the view of the garage excellent you got engines and bikes and more bikes I thought I was bad ...good vid good tips thanks

Your giving away my search secrets...... Works good, found lots of stuff with a vague search, lots of stuff misclassified or poorly described.
Yes this is great new content. Thanks for sharing some of the thought processes you go through with these bikes.
What’s up brother? Just found a Honda Kindred! I’ll be rebuilding a few V4 Magnas and Sabres on my channel. Look forward to buying, wrenching and riding along with you!
My first street bike was a KZ400. I regret selling it. Bought it for $400 in the late 80s, sold it for $400 in the mid 90s.
Great advice👍content like this goes a long way
Thanks for sharing! If you’re not able to remedy the bouncing effect of your video lightning , you will find painting your walls gray will fix the problem
I’d love to see you rebuild that engine!
I have a 1975 CB750. Looking forward to see what you'll do with this one.
Great video buddy
Enjoy the bike life
The one thing you have to watch on start up after sitting, the aluminum pistons are pretty fragile
The new build is pretty sweet, dispite the engine work. Please, please don't make all the bikes look the same. I am begging you to change it up with this new build. Other than that you are quite fantastic.
Looking forward to the top end rebuild.

Thanks Michael I will give that a try.

I like the format,,,it's different,,,I would like to see you do a top end rebuild,,,
Great video thanks, and all the best from the U.K
Thanks for watching!
Always enjoyable content.

That was a good video. Nice work.
You got me. I hollered at the screen.
Great advice, interested to see how it will turn out. :)
My sister used to live in Texas many years ago. She is now back here in Scotland.

I would love to see a quarter fairing, molded back end Cafe racer style.
AHHHH you're letting out my super secret Craigslist skills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very helpful video, thanks
Hi my friend I love your work is very good I am living Thailand I have Honda shadow 1100cc is my baby keep doing you are very good man
Outs video, man! Really good information here.
Terrific vid, Taylor. BTW, I’d encourage you to mask your truck license plate in your vids. 🏍👍🏍
Amazing video

If you’re looking to dump that exhaust, I’m looking for kerker muffler.
@SRKcycles this guy has great videos but damn he’s needs some Tank straps

Was that a camera you used to hook up your trailer?
Hi, im looking at a 1977 Honda 750 Four K.
Can I talk to you so I know what to look for specifically.
Its been parked for atleast 30 years out of the weather, im 25 its been there for as long as i can remember.
Its all original with some accessories.
Do another scrambler/ tracker build
Great content and really liked the format. But why get rid of that classic saddle?
Not my style. Sure looks comfortable though.
Are you going to be selling that seat. I'm in the UK.
Please don't cafe racer it, hows about turning it into a chopper, as these sohc Honda's were as popular as the Harley's . I've seen some amazing 750 chops.
I want to purchase one of your restored bikes. Please put some up for sale on your site
I think this format is fine. Anyone know the technical name for a starter trigger switch he mentioned? Want to find one. Thanks!
amzn.to/2WWdC2y . Here is a link to it.
Taylor, please get some real straps, like Snapping turtle. Those guitar strings are not good. Great videos.
That seat is fantastic.
Do you know the best way to convert a 6 volt bike to 12 volt? There are no good videos on it
Hi,
You Seem 100%,
Do you do E- Bikes. ?
Thats interesting you have to have a title for something that old. Vermont has a 15 year rule on titles. If its over 15 years old, no title is needed.
How much did you pay for the bike?
Leerzaam en leuk!
plz plz plz put a 865cc S&S big bore kit in it
Most sellers are honest, but if not, the way they scam people is by removing one thing, and then they say it will run once it is replaced, (carb, throttle cable, etc) but in reality, the engine is total crap.

Liked even before seeing the vid. 👍😀
Can you repair the broken engine cooling fins?
It's possible but I don't think I would bother.
I know you have your own style. But what do you have against that seat? I think it goes with the times of that bike.
There is a fine line between classic and dated. Tufted seats are just a little bit dated for me.
It looks like its been swapped to a 16" rear wheel
Would u buy 1982 cb750 for project build or do U stick 70’s I have a great deal for 82
I like to stick to pre 78 personally. Less emissions stuff to deal with and i'm not a fan of the 80 cast wheels.
Sorry where are you located I want to get my bike to you to get running
I'm in Austin, Texas. Feel free to shoot me an email at ClassicOctante@gmail.com Thanks!
who wants a boat anchor like that?
By Nationality would be a good start🇺🇸
So only Japanese bikes? I'm sure some people would enjoy Harleys....
