The Lasso does way more than just make you tell the truth. It's unbreakable and indestructible, can dispel illusions, protects anyone encircled by it from magical attack, can restore someone's lost memories and, of course, can make anyone who is tied with it not only tell, but fully understand the absolute truth. There have been people who have been driven insane or to suicide facing the absolute truth of themselves. I think at one point it even made Ares cry like a little girl. And the island of Amazons is Themyscira (50/50 I spelled that right .. lol).
It makes perfect sense that the Lasso would compel people to speak the truth, considering that the creator of Wonder Woman, William Moulton Marston, contributed to the invention of the polygraph.
Regarding Ares, you're right.
He tried to start a war so massive that all the violence would give him the power to usurp Olympus but the lasso showed him the truth of his actions.
He would have his victory but eventually humanity would drive itself to extinction because of his actions. With no followers or violence to feed him, Ares would suffer a slow death, forgotten and alone.

This Wonder Woman movie looks as good as a live action comic book movie could be. The action and colour scheme looks incredible. I am looking forward to Justice League as well, but nowhere near as much as Wonder Woman. The filmmakers appear to have successfully fused that 1940's Wonder Woman look with the look of modern gritty war movies; which is quite an achievement when you consider how bright the original Wonder Woman comics were.
Me too! Even has Etta f***ing Candy in it! HILARIOUS! As this seems to be based more on the comics with the Greek mythological theme, from what I can see anyway, I really hope the writers have incorporated the feather thrown by the God, Hermes, that gives Diana the ability to fly and, please, no invisible jet! Notice also what looks to me like one of her 'power jolts' at 3:56? Looks amazing...
That entire sequence at 3.56 is epic. If they do give her an invisible jet it will probably just a stealth jet!
They already said they won't have the invisible jet at least in the first movie
I'm kind of upset they didn't know anything of Wonder Woman's story, timeline, or backstory. Not even the basics.

IKR it's kinda bothered me. It's like Superman not having a giant S in his chest. It's a part of him and no one says it's cheese or anything it's just his costume. The lasso is a huge part of her character. I was so happy they included it.

Hera and the Olympians creates an island (Paradise Island or Themyscira), what is became a new home safe from the "Human World". The gods give Hippolyta, the Queen of the Amazons a spell what is can form new Amazon made of clay. Diana is the daughter of Queen Hippoliyta. After a World War II pilot Steve Trevor (Amost Steve Rogers) falls down on Paradise Island, Diana help him back to home, and after that she is became an ambassador of the Amazons.

In terms of her theme, I don't know about the guitar, but that tribal rhythm in the background with the strings is fucking badass.

Actually they kind of showed the villains, but I think only true WW fans would know. The Dude dressed in the German uniform is most likely Ares and the chick with the face 'wrap, LOL is probably Paula von Gunther or Baroness Von Gunther and lastly the lady at the end is WW's best friend, Etta Candy

How the hell do they not know about wonder woman's origin, like yeah she comes from an island of women and has never seen a man before. It's the lasso of truth and it's gonna make people tell the truth that's not gonna change. Batman isn't the nick fury of anything as his character actually plays a role that's important in justice league. Also Martian Manhunter came first, vision is a copy. Yes the tv and movies are separate, that's another thing DC got right and marvel fucked up on.
I agree, these guys come across as knowing everything about comics yet they don't know the basic origins of Wonder Woman, who's one of the DC Trinity and the most powerful female superhero in comics...disappointed in their reaction.

FYI, guys: the island exists in our world. It was claimed by the Amazons as a respite from the harshness of warrior life. The gods granted them the island as a utopia, as a thank you for generations of loyal servitude, not to mention a "Sorry, our bad" for being enslaved by Hercules. They blessed the island so no man could set foot on it, after giving them immortality. This made it invisible to the non-immortal Amazon eye, much like the jet. It is an metaphor of creator Marston's idea of the 1940's woman's desires for her home life: quiet, private, safe from the harsh, male professional world.
Btw the Wonder Woman song that is from the BvS soundtrack was done by either Hanz Zimmer or Junkie XL. My guess is that it's the latter as it sounds very similar to his work in Mad Max: Fury Road. Which was awesome.

When i was in Doctor Strange and first time seeing this after it payed pack theater i raised my hands up and yelled YES WONDERWOMAN its my #1 most anticpiated comicbook movie next year. Its about time she got her own movie. I grew up with Linda Carter Wonderwoman in the 80s so im siked for 2017.

They're Amazons, not 'Amazonians'. Amazon originally referred to the female warrior. When Europeans first explored the Amazon rainforest, they imagined it to be the abode of the Amazons. So 'Amazonian' refers to something pertaining to the rainforest, and not Amazon women.

Also the Justice League are fighting Steppenwolf in the first film. I think in the second one they will fight Darkseid and Superman as well as Green Lantern or Martian Manhunter will be featured heavily.

It's an island that is shielded from the world of man by the power of the Olympic gods. so, it's not technically another dimension but they don't really interact with "our" world as it were.
Stephen wolf is the main villain. the lasso of truth isn't corny. it's one of the weapons she was given before going to mans world. aquaman is around 30. he is a half breed. his father is human, his mother is the queen of Atlantis. so his story starts when his is an adult. Batman was already Batman and Lal-so was already here. wonder woman is the oldest by at least a 1k years. her sight of a man was Steve Trevor.

To me it seems like the villain is the guy that washed up on the island. It looks like it starts in WW1 but maybe ends in WW2 but the old guy with a missing arm that she's apparently about to kill is just an older version of him...I think.
That guy is Steve Trevor, which in the comics is always a army fighter and the love interest for winder woman so villain is out of the question.

No no...Amazons are not super tall (in the WW comic) they're look like every female on Earth I wouldn't say they're average looking but they're not super tall nor super muscular. That's part of the charm of the comic...you wouldn't expect them to do the things that they do. If they stood out you would expect it.. And Themiscyra aka Paradise Island is an island on Earth not another dimension, but it's hidden supernaturally (gods involved). They have never lived in a forest. When they were part of Main culture (pre-greek times) they lived on the main land of that time. It was because of Hercules' betrayal of Hippolyta that caused them to leave the mainland to a place where they would never fear war or be betrayed again. Yer geeks pick up some WW comics.

In terms of cross over potential in a world war 1 era one character can do it. The Flash. He can travel through time and that can open up all sorts of posibilities story arc wise...
Here's hoping that it isn't just a MASSIVELY powerful Wonder Woman (and other Amazons) carves up scores of common German soldiers who didn't stand a chance :)

Something occurs to me, is Wonder Woman on the Allies side in WW1? I mean we see Chris Pine walking in the middle of a German camp, which we later see him shooting, and his uniform kind of reminds me of a German one. My theory, Chris Pine is with the central powers, they find Wonder Woman's home, and want to take it over for military purposes. Chris Pine says no and it's basically him having to turn against his comrades for the woman he falls for. So we not only get a twist on the trope of 'I for for america', but it also gives a good amount of character to Chris Pine's character as he knows what he's doing is wrong. Since the German's weren't necessarily evil in WW1 (Nobody really was the 'bad guy' in the conflict), they can get away with it. But that's my theory at least.

I was never a fan of Wonder Woman. She was for me a girly girl hero, who doesn't do a shit in cartoons. Then I saw the shield struck with bullets scene, and the scene with the slide. Now I want to see it ASAP. Plus Gal Gadot is such a firm woman. That scene with Affleck due party in BvS - Did You see Her smile? Now that is a smile worth to kill.
