- The King of the planets, Jupiter, a colossal world that scientists believe can help us better understand the origin of the solar system. Nine robotic spacecraft have visited the gas planet so far, two of which entered into orbit, allowing us to study its complex, dramatic atmosphere like never before. But Jupiter, still holds many mysteries, such as, what lies below its mysterious clouds and to dive even deeper, what is at its core? Take a trip inside of the solar systems largest planet and find out what scientists think is going on down there, trust me, it's very bizarre.

Is it possible that Jupiter was even larger at one point? Large enough to create fusion. Yes. What i am proposing is Jupiter was a small star in its early life. Jupiter's moons not pulled in from some other place but the product of Jupiter's own fusion reactions. Jupiter is smaller today because it burned off its mass through this fusion process.
. If my theory is correct then what about the other gas giants like Saturn?

I love space and everything about it, but the scale of things is frightening. The most scariest thing I have witnessed was deliberately crashing a probe into Jool (Jupiter) in KSP and watching the whole thing. Just watching getting it closer and closer until you realize how big it really is

Are you aware of the vast oceans beneath the sea floor and above the crust?
For as long as I can remember, from five, maybe even four years old, I have always wondered what it's like inside the gas giants. Jupiter and Saturn of course are the ones I think about most. But all the gas giants are fascinating to consider. I've wondered what it would look like, what it would sound like, even what it smells like to dive into that atmosphere. I never imagined back then that we would one day have the technology to answer those questions. And now I can only imagine what we'll have discovered by the time my kids are my age. And hope that I'm still alive to witness some of it.
Same here, I've always wondered if the gas giants are stars waiting to be born.

I felt the same way just from the images. You just hope you never end up falling into Jupiter. Just when you think that’s impossible, “holy crap how did I end up below the clouds of jupiter”. This is coming from someone who never dreamed he’d be homeless in Brazil one day and had to go to work the next day! I agree. Look up videos on our Sun, if you want to be really terrified. Only the balance between the inward pull of gravity and the outward push of the heat from fusion keeps it stable. Any unbalance in either would be catastrophic for earth, but it's been relatively stable for billions of years.
I wish I had these kinds of videos when I was in school. It would have made science classes way more interesting.

I always dreamt of being a astronaut just to be able to travel space and see these magnificent planets with my own eyes. It’s wonderful and bizzare that we have all these worlds to explore and many many more to see.
When i was a kid I never dreamed of being an astrounaut bc of the many movies and videos i watched about space. I always got terrified of how many weird and unexplainable stuff could kill me there. I obliviously won't understand what each thing is. But i knew roughly that they weren't good.
Sadly, we are a very long way from any human travel to other planets. At very least, a very long way from from fast and safe travel. The vast majority of astronauts have never even been outside of earth's atmosphere, and none have been outside of earth's gravity.

They made one, the Galileo entry probe, but it was really hard to get data from it. It had a strange reinforced antenna that had to have a protected design while still sending data to the Galileo spacecraft above.
We can do better today. We just need interest!
Maybe instead of a spacecraft we can send a swarm of nanobots made of diamond, or somehow direct a field of entangled quantum particles that can measure one variable like temperature or pressure in such an extreme environment.

It makes me feel very uncomfortable when I am thinking about the environment of Jupiter. It is so harsh and bizarre. There is nothing alive there. There is no where to escape those horrific conditions.

ever since i was a child ive always had this vivid fantasy of being invincible, impervious to everything and unmovable. and i would just walk around the most inhospitable planets but nothing could hurt me. theres just something about that feeling of true, vast, empty isolation while the elements go berserk 20 different ways to sunday. wading through pools of sulphur and rains of molten lava and not feeling a thing. i dont know why, but i always found that incredibly appealing (and i wouldnt be some ethereal ghost type being where you just pass through stuff either. has to be the physical me, just 100% invincible )

Can someone explain why Jupiter is sometimes called “A failed star”? Not sure if it was covered, but I was just curious! The content of this channel would break the scale and nothing comes close to it! :)
To put it simple, Jupiter didn't absorb enough materials to become even a dwarf star. Luckily it's not a brown dwarf either (the closest thing you get to another failed star type), otherwise a brown dwarf Jupiter could have affected Earth's habitable zone.
It's more close to an very successful planet rather than a "failed star", like an high A tier or a low S tier

@@StanbyMode Because a good 90% of its mass is made up of a variety of elements in gaseous form. There likely is a solid core, but it's likely a metal due to the pressures involved.

I've been wondering what it would have been like since I was 6 years old. I'm now 31. Man, how my younger self would have freaked out so much with all these new space-related content and discoveries. @DJ Mega Aim Productions 17 That was the general consensus back in the day, however, with those extreme conditions, it my not be farfetched to imagine a core which does have have a truly solid state. Imagine this, in simple physics (I'm clearly not a professional) we know that the higher a solid object is heated up, the more its basic structural particles are excited and would eventually 'move' away from each other such that it forms a liquid, and eventually a gas the more heat is introduced; the inverse is true as well. Though, take into account the element of pressure, which is a powerful force on its own such that it's able to squeeze carbon so tightly that it forms into a diamond; in the context of pressure turning gases liquid or even solid, it would largely depend on other factors but is still feasible (i.e. packaged liquid nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen etc). Thusly and in general terms, extremely high temperatures = liquid, but extreme pressure = solid, so the two never really marry. Again, I'm no professional, someone please correct me if I'm wrong or if something is amiss.

I always wondered what would Jupiter looks like beneath its clouds.
And yes, these transitions between different layers must be enormous.

"Big" itself is actually understatament, even saying it's enormously gigantic still doesn't hold when it comes to objects in universe, it's because how crazy their size is especially if we talk about giant stars or galaxies..

Too say this is absolutely fascinating is an understatement. The two planets that have always captured my imagination the most have always been Saturn and Jupiter. I never really understood how a gas giant worked until way into adulthood. When I was a kid I often pondered how can a planet exist without a solid core? I thought if you flew a space ship straight into the center of Jupiter (and was equipped to handle the planets atmosphere) top to bottom you would come out the other side. Of course I know this isn't the case and you would impact into it's fuzzy core (didn't know it was fuzzy). Sorry, this was amazing...
Watching videos like this reminds me of how I am nothing compares to the very massive enormous Universe.

I dream once that I travelled to Jupiter from a spaceship and got into clouds quickly was actually thin, not deep, then there's surface land with advanced human civilization, utopia city with flying vehicles, no trees, just dessert and dark all the times..
