I adopted my dog, Layla after she had been in a shelter in Texas for one year before being transferred to my local shelter. I thought that a year was an interminably long time. I can't imagine being chained up for ten years. Layla shows her gratitude every day and has a dog door so she can go outside or come in any time she wants.
Don't come to the Philippines. I don't know why, but in the place where I'm living, several houses have their dogs sitting in cages. And they don't take them out. I've never seen these dogs outside of the cages. And they look miserable. Happy for this little guy!

Yes there are, but most of the humane animal welfare laws are in the northern states (animals are generally not treated well in the south‼️…..they are tethered to chains like this poor soul and are not spayed/neutered and allowed to roam around and breed!!)😡…..it is a real problem!!….My sister and I have adopted dogs from Alabama, who are then transported up to northern states and adopted by people here…..the US is a BIG country (and each state has their own laws unfortunately)😞

They didn’t save the dog. They lacked the courage to save the dog. They allowed him to endure the cruelty because they didn’t have the courage to do what they knew should be done.
Thank you PETA for never losing hope to free him and giving a new life to this sweet pup. Older adoptions are my favorite and have been the most rewarding ones. They have this enormous sense of gratitude and love towards their adoptive parents and for giving them all the TLC in the world and proving that not all humans are heartless. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He is so, so appreciative of his new home and it breaks my heart to think he would constantly awake in a nightmare that he couldn't escape from for ten whole years. Dogs chained up outside or left outside is an old idea that should die off quickly, Rusty is a good example of why it is so bad for them! I'm so glad he's escaped his old life now, he seems very happy to be retired and living the good life now :)

Thank goodness the wonderful workers from PETA were checking on him every day and were finally able to rescue him. I'm so glad that Rusty was finally able to be free. These people should have given us the a long long long long long long long time ago. But now he finally has freedom lives with two amazing people and he gets to go to the beach😊😊❤❤❤

People should be screened before they get a pet, they don’t deserve anything. I have gotten rescue dogs and a rescue cat before I got a puppy or kitten. They deserve the best life we can give them. When I had to put down my 16 year old dog, the vet told me that they have never seen anyone do what I did for my pet(family), I rescued her from a lady whose mom passed away. The dog in my posting photo was on a chain outside in Romania for 8 years. When she developed a hernia they dumped her at the side of a busy road in the snow. She is the sweetest dog you could hope to meet and loves everyone (except we were on a walk and saw an old Romanian gypsy woman and freaked out). The only problem is house training her.

I can’t imagine someone chaining a dog up for that long…AND INSIDE OF A PEN, on top of that. Unbelievable. Luckily, he was saved from all of that and now, he’s happy. And it shows.
I wish so badly every single doggie chained outside, alone could have this come true for them too. It hurts my heart so much when I see one outside by themselves and all in the world they want is to be part of their pack. And the owners are usually clueless and careless about it. The work I do puts me in this situation quite often. It's difficult for me to walk away.
Rusty is so beautiful. I am so sad that he lost 10 years of his precious life chained outside. It's so devastating to even imagine it. I wonder why it took Peta so long. I hope his abusive people never are able to have animals again! I thank God for his new forever family. He is so happy and exuberant and he knows that he is in a loving forever family. I can’t imagine someone chaining a dog up for that long…AND INSIDE OF A PEN, on top of that. Unbelievable. Luckily, he was saved from all of that and now, he’s happy. And it shows.
He sleeps in between because you’re his number one and you imprinted him ❤
I wish so badly every single doggie chained outside, alone could have this come true for them too. It hurts my heart so much when I see one outside by themselves and all in the world they want is to be part of their pack. And the owners are usually clueless and careless about it. The work I do puts me in this situation quite often. It's difficult for me to walk away.

Rusty is so beautiful. I am so sad that he lost 10 years of his precious life chained outside. It's so devastating to even imagine it. I wonder why it took Peta so long. I hope his abusive people never are able to have animals again! I thank God for his new forever family. He is so happy and exuberant and he knows that he is in a loving forever family. Thank you to his new parents. They are very special people. I love that Rusty sleeps between them with his head on the pillow. Perfect! God bless you all for saving him.
