That was really an awesome effect at around 5:30 where you talked about turning off your mind and enjoying the last smells, sights and sounds of the trail. When you faded out the background music I got a real sense of how quiet and almost eerie the trail was at the end. Great job of filming and editing.

Brings back a ton of memories watching this. That exposed ridge line after Wayah bald is where I felt an inner peace and decided to enjoy the last bit of my journey as you did. Walking into the NOC was a sad moment, but I will return when the time is right and make new memories.

I thru-hiked southbound in 1981. I find it interesting to watch videos of current long distance hikers and see the things that haven't changed and the things that have changed a lot. Current hikers have cell phone and cameras that we didn't have and it's amazing to me to see how important these items are to current hikers. As a southbound hiker (I left Katahdin on Aug, 1, 1981 and reached Springer on Jan. 1, 1982) we saw very few people and things like trail names, trail magic, and the whole camaraderie just was not a part of my hike. Thanks for sharing.

Alas.....the one that we all knew was coming. I enjoyed the journey, even if it was a foreshortened one. Here's to sunny trails begging to be hiked when things finally get back to normal!

Things will not get back to normal when people blindly follow moronic policies that are not based on reason nor science. Even the communist NY governor wants a "new normal". Only a communist knows what thus "new normal" might mean. I'm sure even Cuomo won't say but I'm sure he hopes it helps transform our once free nation into another totalitarian state. This virus was not a pandemic. It was a panic spread by false numbers & paranoia. The data & the media reporting on this flu virus have been bloated & inflated from day one. The data from the CDC shows the virus to be on par with influenza. No more or less deadly. But are the deaths from other illnesses reported for perspective? NO!!! Diabetes, Alzheimer's, heart disease, drunk drivers, hospital accidents & accidental poisoning claim more lives each than this virus. But the media puts a magnifying glass on each alleged Corona virus death to the exclusion of all other causes if death. Irrational! Unreasonable! Zero perspective! Unacceptable!

@@lt.sewell2792 There's an agenda within all this, and it's crystal clear when you see our freedom of speech being censored and countless videos of medical staff coming out about the numbers being taken down. Apple and Facebook (government owned or at least a puppet of) are working together to trace and share all of our information. Over what? A flu like virus that has a low number of deaths. Brave new world but keep hiking ya'll

I am still Walking Across America, Darwin. Marvy is driving our "home" support van. So
far I have walked across Massachusetts, New York state, Pennsylvania,
and just started into Ohio about 600 miles... on our way to Oregon. But my walk across America is a great adventure allowing me to accomplish a goal while practicing
Social Distancing. VERY different than walking the A.T. Many say "Crossing" is horrible compared to trail hiking, but it is just a different experience. Even with business closures and social distancing, we have met some wonderful people...again from a safe distance. Still enjoying the heck out of your videos!! Keep posting all your pre- and post-walk videos... very informative!

Late into the night my 10 year old came out and asked me if I was going to be OK, an hour later my girl came out and did the same thing. Then my 4 year old brought me a nice cold Rolling Rock around midnight, we stared at the big dipper together out there in the dark. @@DarwinOnthetrail it made me cry when we did not get to meet Plug It In. Could you do a Q & A with Plug It In and ask them how they got their name? Please, I NEED TO KNOW

Was hoping to get out on the superior hiking trail later this summer, but as long as the shta says no hiking, that means no hiking. It sucks but I get it and gotta respect the trail. Thanks for being a role model in these tough times!

Looking back now it’s laughable that you would leave being outside 24/7 to going indoors 24/7 for ronna. But at the time pier pressure got to everyone. Being out there would have been the best thing for them.

I take solace in the fact that empty trails is giving Gaia time for renewal, giving the animals & plants time to heal too.

Sucks that you had to pull off mid hike, but it was a smart decision. I am hoping to make my first section hike this spring when this is over.

Seems weird to ask people to get off the trail when I had to get supplies today and weave my way through 2000 people at Walmart.

Thanks for the vlog - I have not looked yet but did you vlog your 2015 hike? Great views today with the cloud cover in the valleys to make the mountains stand out above and between the clouds!

I like the shots of you cooking and in your tent....I think it would do your content great justice to include a "in tent" or "at camp moment" segment....like we see the hiking ....your probably the best hiker in the country ...your pace is by far the fastest I've seen...but the in camp segment finalizes the day.....you can do as you please but I really think if you go ...wake up segment....hike segment followed by b roll.....to talk segment....discuss the hike...obstacles standouts etc....followed by an at camp or in tent clip....it would be perfect...
