I know exactly where your first motel is. We used to stay there but got tired of the lack of cleanliness and things always breaking. We started staying across the street at Jack Huff's. It's an older motel but is kept so clean and updated. Been staying there for years and will continue.

After staying in rental cabins, we will never ever stay in hotel/motels anymore in the Smoky Mountain area. For practically the same cost you can have a Cabin with full kitchen, king size bedrooms with full bathrooms, couch/chairs, very large screen TVs, covered deck overlooking the mountains so even a dreary rainy day you can sit outside and enjoy the views. No noisy neighbor's on the other side of the wall. BBQ grill for grilling outdoors, game rooms for entertainment, Hot Tube on covered deck after hiking. A Hotel offers you...Bed-desk-chair-bathroom-noisy hallway and neighbors on other side of wall. Easy decision for us. CABIN

Yes!! I totally agree! Cabins are absolutely the way to go! And you can personally connect with the owner about problems! We have had great luck with cabins in the smokies!
