- I traveled from Kobe to Dogo Onsen in Ehime.
Boarded the Orange Ferry “Orange Hope” from Kobe Port.
The ship departed at 1:20 a.m. and arrived at Niihama Port in Ehime at 8:20 a.m.
As a cargo ship, the number of passengers was extremely small, and I was the only passenger that day.
The ship was unmanned, and the atmosphere on board was like that of a ghost ship.
From Niihama, I took the train to Dogo Onsen.
At Dogo Onsen, I visited the bathing facility reserved exclusively for the imperial family and enjoyed the private bath.

Great trip. Again, another big Ferry route connecting Honshu and Shikoku Island, this time from Kobe to Niihama, which when I see the map on video, it's looks close but when i see sailing time it's 7 hours. Yeah this two island is well connected by bridge, but Ferry between this two island is still exist in some part of area because of trucking industries. Bit curious, there are plenty of semi trailer without head tractor at port, any reason for this? Yeah the ferry feel deserted, especially only you as a foot passenger, and the room can't be locked, but thankfully your ferry running on Seto Inland Sea, meaning there are no big wave like in Pacific Ocean, or maybe Sea of Japan, and your room's door is not swinging.
Thanks again for watching my videos. This time it was a bit of a strange trip from Kobe to Niihama and then to Dogo Onsen. You are right, many trucks and ships come and go between Honshu and Shikoku to transport cargo. Semi-trailers are more common than full trailers in Japan, and many semi-trailers are parked at ports. And on this voyage, the sea was very calm and the scenery very beautiful.😸

Thank you for your comment. This ship is primarily cargo. Trailers will be disembarked with only containers on board. Of course, the driver does not board the ship. It seems that the ship is profitable in terms of cargo. The hot springs were great!😸

夜の神戸はほんとに魅力的ですね。この船にWIFIはありませんが、そもそも船内WIFIは陸から離れると機能しないので、あまり意味がないようです。ただ、瀬戸内海航路はおおむね電波がけっこう届くので、普通にスマホは使えることが多いです😸

Normaly there is a bus from sumiyoshi station is't it? I know from another video.
There are buses from Sumiyoshi and Mikage stations, but those are only in the evening. This ship departs late at night, so those who take these buses have to wait for hours.😸

Orange Ferry operates ferries connecting Shikoku (Saijo City) and Honshu (Osaka City), and Shikoku (Yawatahama City) and Kyushu (Usuki City).
However, this route between Kobe City and Niihama City is not well known because it is mainly for cargo, not for tourists.
I'm surprised that there are normal passenger rooms and sleeping berths.

My feeling about this video is a bit ambivalent. I just _love_ the night city shots of Kobe, and Osaka in the background. Japan does 'bustling city at night' very well.
Contrasting with that is that so many places that aren't cities seem almost depopulated: no other passengers on board; shops and restaurants are closed; no buses because there are no passengers.
Immigration is a very hot topic everywhere in the world, and there's increasing resistance against it. But in the case of Japan, I feel that the country cannot continue and remain Japan without immigration. But with immigration, it wouldn't remain the Japan we know either.

Some of the scene to retort the inn was good. Your hotel look nice for 45 bucks a night.That's not bad. But the bath that was my favorite part.Especially since you had to pay for the private.I think it was worth every penny. You feel good afterwards

神戸の深夜出航の船なんてロマンティックで良い感じですね。
これは乗ってみたいなと思いました。
いつもこんなに空いてるんでしょうか。
それはそうと、アイランドの夜中は人影が無くてちょっと怖い感じですね。
外国人比率が増えると一気に治安が悪化しそうです。（ちょっと偏見？）
この船も年末年始やお盆の時期は乗客が増えるそうです。六甲アイランドは駅周辺はマンションが多くて活気があるのですが、このフェリーが発着するのは人工島の北東端近くで、人はほぼ住んでいません。外国人の方たちが居住することもなさそうですが、夜はとにかく寂しいですね😸
昔は沢山人乗ってたけどね、今は、瀬戸大橋、しまなみ街道出来たから。使い道がなくなった、それでも、お盆休み、年末年始の帰省には人でごった返します
個室がたくさんありますが、以前は乗客も多かったそうですね。大阪から東予の航路はけっこう混んでますし、こちらも徒歩客向けにもう少し活用してもよいのではおも思ってしまいますよね😸

貸し切りですね😀自分も以前、平日の朝にコナンの映画を観に行ったときですが、シアターに入ったときは既に照明が落とされCMが始まっていました。やがて上映開始。しかしいつもと違って人の気配を感じません。終わって照明が点灯してビックリ。誰もおらず貸し切り状態でした😁
上映後に誰もいないと気付くとはびっくりでしたね。大きな施設や乗り物で貸切状態なのはとても特異な体験だと実感しました😸

I’m still trying to understand the idea of the use of the bathhouse in Japan. It seems to be used for relaxation and not to wash up with soap and water.
It was kind of strange to be the only passenger aboard the ferry. I guess the ferry makes their money from transporting cargo.

Dogo Onsen in particular is one of the most wonderful hot spring resorts in Japan. This ferry ride was a very unusual experience. I would like to take this boat again.😸

In college each semester we had a theme for our design project . One semester it was the about a new Japanese hotel that opened up in Kyoto. We had to come up with the design for the logo of the new hotel, a box lunch, an announcements cards, a poster, and the design for the lobby. Fun project. That was our first exposure to Japanese culture.
Am designing my house in a Wabi Sabi philosophy in bringing harmony in nature into the house and simplicity of space.
Something I haven’t forgotten about the Japanese culture was their food, saka,,sushi,.🍣 and noodles soup.

I've been here (the port) last February, bound to Shin Moji. At night, as a Solo Traveler it was intimidating. Got scared won't make it to my Ferry. It was night and totally dark.
This boarding area in Kobe is lonely at night because the streets are deserted. If you are going to Shinmonji, you can use the bus.😸

快適でしたけど、やはり一人はちょっとね〜
６時間の乗車でしたが、適度にお客さんがいる方が良いと感じましたね。
大きな乗り物に乗客が自分ひとりだけだと、とても奇妙な気分になりますよね。快適といえば快適なのですが...。でも得がたい体験でした😸
こちらのフェリーは綿貫渉氏の動画で拝見していますが、徒歩でそのまま乗船できないのはびっくりです。
ちなみにこちらのフェリーはネットから予約ができない（電話予約のみ）、クレジットカードが使えないとのことです。
乗客が少ないので乗用車で徒歩客を運搬する方が低コストなのでしょうね。電話予約で現金支払いのみというのもむしろ新鮮でした😸

この深夜便は、RORO船と言った感じでコンテナ、トラック輸送で成り立っています。一般客、乗用車などはおまけ的な感じですね。たとえば新日本海フェリーなどコンテナ輸送で成り立っています。乗船でも初めにコンテナ、トラック、乗用車の順番で積み込みされます。中、長距離フェリーはコンテナ輸送で利益得ているんですね。他はおまけみたいな物ですね。コンテナがいっぱい積み込まれていたでしょう。
この船はコンテナの輸送で成り立っているようです。一般客用の個室はたくさんあるのですが、一般客での収益はほとんど期待していないということですね。車両甲板はコンテナがたくさん積まれていました😸

Trailer heads and containers can be separated. Truck drivers disembark with the trailer head after loading the containers at the port of departure. At the arrival port, another driver boards the vessel with the trailer head. The containers are then connected and unloaded. There was no driver on the vessel during the voyage.😸

So those trucks they load in supposedly have drivers, meaning really you aren't the only person on board. Just the only person on foot.
The truck driver leaves the container in the vessel and disembarks. I was the only passenger. Upon arrival at the destination, another truck driver would board the ship and unload the container. Understand how trailer heads work. That is how this ship works.😸

あくまでも貨物主体なので旅客は本当にオマケ、船内設備も超簡素なので徒歩乗船するなら南港から乗ってねってことなんでしょうね
貨物でじゅうぶん利益が出ているので、今さら徒歩客には力を入れない方がいい、という考え方のようです。大阪～東予とも競合してしまうという事情もあるのでしょうね😸
@@capsulejapan昔は旅客船が新居浜〜大阪と、東予〜大阪間それぞれ一往復運航（オレンジ7又は8が交代で運航）されていて、更に新居浜〜神戸間のオレンジホープが運航されてました。旅客船が新居浜に寄らなくなったので、新居浜市民のほとんどは本州に行く場合高速バスか、JR、マイカーを利用しています。後、特急いしづちの車両激レアですよ。まだ3両しか無い8000系リニューアル編成です。
新居浜の人たちにとってもあまりなじみのない船なのでしょうね...。いしづち、そんなにレアだったとは知りませんでした！😸
@@capsulejapan今年の8月からは、しおかぜ5両編成も リニューアルされますよ。ちなみに、オレンジフェリーの本数が減った原因の一つがおれんじ7&8の老朽化で新しいフェリーを作らないといけなかったが、予算が足りなかったみたいです。もちろん需要も減っていたのも事実です。

そういう例もあるが、他の方法もある。
まず、出発港にトレーラーを牽引して来た運転者は、船会社の指示する場所にトレーラーを停めて、ヘッドを切り離す。船内には乗り入れない。そして、港に停めてある到着貨物のトレーラーを連結し、その貨物を目的地まで引いて行く。
出発港に置いて行った貨物は、船会社と契約した積み下ろし業者のトレーラーヘッドが船内に積み込む。
到着港では、到着港側の契約業者が船内から貨物を引き出し、陸上に並べておく。その貨物を持って行くのは、荷受側のトレーラーヘッド。そのヘッドも、港まで別の発送貨物を引いて来て、積込貨物用の駐車場で貨物を切り離して置いて来たのかも知れない。
このやり方のメリットは、
狭い船内でトレーラーを駐車するのは、専門業者に任せた方が安全かつ効率的である。
陸上側のトレーラーヘッドの運転者は、港への往復で仕事ができてムダ足にならない。
ということである。

Such large ship for one passanger. Lol, Ship ferry company(ies) in my country would not travel for one passanger, nope at least 40-50 percent is needed for least profitable route for ship to actually leave port.
There is only one passenger, but it carries many containers. That's why this ferry is profitable.😸

恥ずかしいですがおれんじフェリー神戸↔新居浜間は初めて知りました😮神戸六甲アイランドは昔アイランド北口駅からは連絡バス🚌あったんですが今はないのですね😢なんだかさみしい気持ちです。でもなぜか不思議な気分ですね。船内の毛布はむかしのオレンジフェリー８・７の毛布ですね懐かしいです。この動画観て懐かしさを感じましたありがとうございました。
おれんじフェリーの７＆８とは懐かしいですね！８は釜山～済州島を航行してましたが、最近は休眠状態のようです。アイランド北口からバスは現在も運行しているのですが、さんふらわあと阪九用で、この船用のバスはありません。次回は新居浜からも乗ってみたいです😸

航行中の船内は常にエンジンの振動音と空調の音が聞こえてきます。おそらくノイズではないと思われます😸
😅船はエンジンの音、振動が凄いんですね。大抵航空機を取り上げる人が多い。こうした航路図で見た事は有りますが、様々な船を使った旅行の内容を取り上げる人は少なく、時間を使う分とても参考になります。
