Female Fox is a Vixen, Male Fox is a Dog. Baby Foxes are named either pups, kits, or cubs! A group of foxes is called a skulk or a leash.
"It's too much math!" -Andy (put that on a t-shirt!) hahaha
I got into this board game hobby less than 2 years ago. Admittedly, I go overboard into any new hobby, and this one has been no different. I've since acquired 309 games, 163 of which are on my Shelf of Future Fun. I feel no shame whatsoever! With that said, I can really relate to your Final Say, Andy.
Welcome to the hobby!! That is a big shelf of future fun. Now if that shelf has the same 163 games untouched, it starts to feel a little more shameful. We should have talked about how long something needs to be on the shelf to invoke shame. Usually relating to Andy is a sign of distress and turmoil, so please consult a doctor if this continues.
Thank you for watching ! - Daniel
If you want better than wingspan, try Raising Robots. Excellent game, deep strategy, cute little robots and straight forward gameplay. My Play would be Roll player, my shelf is Rajas of the Ganges and trade is that pain Las Vegas....I do not get the love of that game it is just painful to play. Chris you did better than my husband and I we were both bored out of our minds playing the fox experiment. I should have loved it naming foxes, sort of euro mechanics, but nope I just wanted it done and so did he. I think Andy said it best there are so many better order fulfillment games, not the ones he listed (i like them but they are not the best order fulfillment games). Daniel, have you played Hadrian's Wall or Three Sisters, those are my favorite roll and writes. The ones you listed though I am not a fan of, so maybe you would not like the ones I like. Yes, shelf of shame and mine right now is over 300 games. I am finally resolved that I am selling the ones I am least interested in. Daniel I will teach you Glen More anytime. One of my top 20 easily I love that game, I loved the original and I love the new one so much. Yes, I got Ark Nova on the first clue. Just because I have heard that said about it before. Chris you have terrible taste in games. Keyflower is amazing. They do need to fix the repeat editions (which they are currently doing) and fix expansions should not be in the top games, it should be base games only.
I actully have Raising Robots on my shelf of shame. Seems like it has potential to resonate better then Wingspan did with me. Which is to say, I liked Wingspan, I just didn't like the ending.
Las Vegas is fine for me, its just a filler that I don't care about.
I don't have those roll and writes, but I would be willing to play them. I do have Fleet the Dice Game which is suppose to be just as good as three sisters (it is the same designer) so I haven't given up on them all together.
Let play Glen More for sure!!
I wish you would have ended this comment with just plaining "Chris you have terrible taste in games". No further explanation needed. - Daniel
The Roll Player expansion Minions and Monsters adds a combat element to the core game where you use your character. Adds a lot to the game. You have the option to fight a minion as another action then you can fight the Boss monster at the end of the game.
I have heard this but I have less then 0% interest in trying that expansion. I am sure its fine, and I might even like it, but I firmly believe the game is fine the way it is. Any thing that continues the game just fills tacked on. But I would be happy to be proven wrong - Daniel
I knew it was Ark Nova!!!
I have Andy's problem. I definitely buy more than I should. I've gotten much better but I'm still culling games that I've never played. I need to start playing games multi-handed solo to at least try them before I get rid of them.
I have a bad habit of trading or selling games that I haven’t even played yet.
Sometimes I kick myself afterwards.
Be careful admitting you have "Andy's Problem" that is something years of psychiatric help may not be able to fix.
I use to learn games, by playing them on my own. Then I had kids, and a switch was flipped, now I find it really heard to learn that way - Daniel
PST: gotta go play Las Vegas cause always a good time especially the Royale version, shelf Rajas which is a classic, and trade roll player which I liked fine but wasn’t anything amazing.
Fox experiment was fine. The theme was a bit of a turn off and I didn’t love other people getting the foxes you made. Not a bad game just not one that I feel the need to own.
Shelf of shame is currently at 14. Longest is at a little over 1 year with Anno 1800.
I think the drafting of the foxes you just bred is necessary in preventing a runaway winner if one player has really good rolls in the early rounds, you still have the opportunity to retain at one of your pups.
I am surprised how many people think The Fox Experiment is just "okay", the hype for this one was crazy. I guess this one will be a "Not" in a few years.
That is a nice size Shelf of Shame. You do a great job at getting your games played. - Daniel
Shelf of Shame? Pffft... more like "Ledge of Dredge!"
