This was awesome⭐ I was obsessed with Rod Stewart as a teenager in the late 70s. My fav album was Foot Loose & Fancy Free which I still think was his best album & drums are my favorite instrument. Carmine Appice was the only drummer I knew of at that time so a heavy influence for me. So much nostalgia in this interview from the late 70's time period.

carmine has always been a legend in his own mind. I am so glad he taught John Bonham everything he knows. 😉 He is a killer drummer, Cactus and BB&A VF, I copped some of his style as I learned to drum. He is a name dropper extrordanaire though. Blows his own horn like Louie Armstrong. Dude, your body of work speaks for itself. Come on!

I've been to 2 of his drum clinics, about 8 years apart, and he devoted a large portion of both of them to talking about how much Bonham owed to him, from copping his style, to copping his sound, to using a 26 inch bass drum which Carmine was the 1st ever drummer to do of course, etc etc. There's an interesting video somewhere out there on youtube from a couple years ago where Carmine played Black Dog with some band at a Bonham tribute show, and he fucks it up LOL. To be fair, Black Dog is a tricky song. It's counter-intuitive because the music is in 4/4 time, but the drum part is in another time signature. But hey, Carmine being the 'original' Bonham, he should have been able to pull it off in his sleep right? 😂

Carmine....the best. I will help this video out just a little....The Rolling Stones had hit big with the song "Miss You." (not missing you) It was a deep dive for the Stones into disco/R and B. It was very big. So, Rod and Carmine thought..let's try that. It worked.

I was at the 1 st.MTV video awards at Radio City Music Hall 1984, the best part of the show was,Rod opening the show with the song Infatuation,he came out in a purple suit and rocked my world. It was the first video awards,I didn’t know what to expect, well I found out.I bought my ticket off a scalper for 50 bucks,it was the size of a drivers license, blue with a space man on it. Price on tic was 16.50 if I remember correctly.

"Do You Think I'm Sexy" sucked ass. I liked the earlier Rod Stewart material myself.
Like "Sailing" "You're In My Heart" "Hot Legs" "I don't Want To Talk About It" "First Cut Is The Deepest" "Tonight's The Night" And the stuff Rod did with "The Faces"
I wasn't into the 80's cheese.. But Carmine is a awesome drummer. I seen him with "Sabbath" back in 92'. He sure didn't disappoint. However, my favorite drummer for Sabbath will always be Bill Ward. Thanks for the video. I highly enjoyed it. Carmine is a class act.
