Hello everyone! Thank you all so, so much for all the support over the journey here at Cerro Gordo. You all are truly helping preserve history for future generations. There is lots of exciting things to look forward to up here. If you aren't already subscribed, I hope you do! See you all soon!
Was getting worried as you hadn’t uploaded for a month. Thought you may be down a mine lol. If you hadn’t today, that’d probably have a few people come to check.
Great update! Did you know you've got a gap bewteen two blocks in that little room at the back? 21:03 top left corner... that's a critter entryway to your food storage basement that you might want to plug up before the food arrives :D
Anytime you need any help for anything Brent, I am always willing. I live in Colorado but can always make a trip out. Plus my Mom lives in Vegas and would love to see me anytime I’m passing through town.
Perhaps to raise money for the American Hotel, “sell” the option to write the name of the person who donated on the roof shingles (on the inside of the hotel, not visible from outside). This was done here in the Netherlands at a church which had major fire damage, the new roof now has many names on the inside.
I was at a restaurant/Whiskey Bar and after a fire they did exactly that. The took old Whiskey barrels apart and used the wooden slats, and branded the names of the people involved into them and covered a wall with all the wooden slats. Kinda like the bricks you can buy in front of stadiums and places like that.
I was gonna comment the same thing, only with bricks. People could buy a brick and have their name inscribed on it. They did it here with a clock tower
I used to help build habitat for humanity homes.we would take donations for like 2x4 framing lumber ( studs.) And they would write their names on them. Until the sheating and drywall was on the house looked pretty well graphitied.
@@joeyj1489 yes it was! The power of UA-cam is amazing sometimes! A company wanted 20,000 just to salvage it he didn’t have that kind of money. But heavy D came to the rescue.
I seen that video about a week ago. I didn't know Heavy D rescued him. That's awesome I watch his videos too. Some great people still left in this world...
Heavy D is a flesh and blood superhero. This morning I watched him a rescue an old man’s home/boat that had been stranded for three weeks on the sand at Lake Mead. No one would help him and his boat was going to be salvaged. It was a miracle. I have been watching you for years and was astounded to see him once again problem solving a situation that no one else seemed capable of touching. Brent, you should be so proud of what you have achieved at Cerro Gordo. You set out to accomplish a goal and always follow through with so much heart and soul. Just amazing!
@@jomo350350 would like to hear what you have to say as am a new sub and realize that some people are too good to be true. If you have evidence I would greatly appreciate if you would share.
@@jomo350350 Heavy D is the REAL DEAL! Who are you and what have you accomplished to help anyone, lately? Start today!
Seeing the massive beaming smile on Brent’s face as he rebuilds the hotel is priceless. I still find watching the video of you the morning after it burnt down upsetting. Watching so many people come together and be there and supporting you and cheering you on is just amazing. Cerro Gordo gets to live again and we all get to experience it through this channel. We are all blessed 😇 Sending hugs from Surrey England xx
@@GhostTownLiving i live in canada alberta and would love to come out some time aswell. This seems so wild being in construction my whole life.. i love seeing old school builds
Greetings from Ontario, Canada.>>>>>I have been watching all of your videos for many years, and finally to get an update on the progress of the construction of the American Hotel was exciting and I am so happy for you, as your owners. >>>I am glad that Heavy D and so many other good samaritans have been stepping-up to the plate to see you achieve your dreams, and so much good and long-time friendships and new memories will make up Cerro Geddo once again. I wish that Mr. Beaudry, my ancestors was here to see for himself was is going on in his town today. Congratulations Brent!
I've worked in construction as a carpenter for 26 years. I can relate to all the headaches you have encountered. Once the framing begins you'll be amazed at how much more progress you'll make. Just remeber every good building needs to rest on an better foundation. Good luck👍
My great-grandfather owned a hotel in Goldfield, Nevada, early 1900’s. It burnt down one night when 2 miners got into a fight, knocked over a kerosene lamp, and it was gone. My grandma told me the story often. They (great- grandma, their 3 daughters and a son) eventually moved to Lone Pine, where he became a Sheriff, and did some mining in the area too. Moved to Bishop after that, and a couple generations later, I was born. I’m grateful for my history in the area, my heart will always be there. We celebrate Mules every year on Memorial Day, they were such a part of the growth then. You’re doing an incredible job, I’ve watched from the beginning!
Thats crazy, my great great grandfather and his family lived in Silverpeak, just west of Goldfield, apparently he got into a bar fight as well and ended up with a bottle to his noggin. My dad told me he had a huge dent in his head from it. My great aunt is buried at the Silverpeak cemetary.
@@lvwrx Those we’re rough days back then! We can’t even image the sights, and of course the SMELLS. Not even Hollywood can make up these stories from our families words. It is very cool to know the past history and know who our ancestors came from, and some of them were WILD folks! Six generations of my family are buried in Bishop, north of Lone Pine (where Mt. Whitney peak can be seen). A very beautiful area for sure!
OMG, Heavy D is everywhere! I just watched him and his team at Lake Mead pulling the stranded houseboat back into the water. What a great guy and group. So happy to see the progress, it can be so hard to get back up after such a loss. I'd love to visit your town one of these years.
The world is as a whole right now so awful and horrifying, watching this channel and you Brent has been fresh air in a vacuum! The risk you took on this place has paid off for thousands of people and hopefully you know how much you are loved!
I've been here since day one and If I didn't live in Australia, I would have been there Volunteering at Cerro Gordo.... Brent you underestimate how much it also means to others, many of us shed a tear when the Hotel went down and have been here supporting you in getting the rebuild done by watching every video... that Bern said this is so exciting and Bern waiting to hear, thankyou to everyone who has played a part in getting this done. And look forward to see the boys back there to play, Heavy D and crew have hearts of gold.
I have been waiting for this update for a long time. I have been watching this channel since the second video, and i was crying with you Brent, when the hotel burned down. You have gone through so many different emotions with this particular stage of your journey, and it has been great to be a part of it from far away. Looking forward to this one for sure. GOD bless everyone who has, and continue to help rebuild the American Hotel.
been here since his first show. if every man in America had the guts and fortitude Brent does we wouldn't be a crumbling country losing all it's morals, values, scruples and ethics to the soulless, godless, greedy elite bastards. Some greedy rich bastard will figure out a way to destroy Brent's dream. I've lost all hope in humanity but watching Brent shows me there is still a handful of men left but not enough to save us from the elite.
I cannot wait for the Dave Sparks group to be there. What a combination of heart and brute strength to aid your build. As a viewer it is a win/win combination.
@@GhostTownLiving Between the dedication they showed and how crushed you were with the historical/personal loss and us dorks on the historical loss, so glad you guys are getting a chance to get things going in the right direction. @@spacefren3826 Ain't that the truth. Didn't he literally just buy a blackhawk helecopter? I think that's probably how he's getting those tanks up to Cerro Gordo.
You have definitely come a long way and if it wasn't for Heavy D Sparks and the Diesel Brothers UA-cam channel I would have never known anything about you and the Cerro Gordo Mines. I remember binge watching and sharing your channel with everyone that I know. I'm sure that I'm not the only one who has done this. I will continue waiting for your notifications and future videos. You definitely look a lot healthier and I'm glad you took a break and focused on yourself if it wasn't for you the Cerro Gordo Mines would just be something buried in a history book! 🍻
Brent, you are an amazing young man - a true inspiration to anyone watching your youtube videos. If I were 50years younger, I be right there with you. Brent, you are living the dream that every young man fantasizes about, wanting to live the life of an explorer. In my youth all I wanted was to live the life that you are now living. I'm envious! Unfortunately I'm too old to do anything about it now, so I live my fantasies through watching your yourtube videos. Please keep them coming. I was fortunate enough to have visited Cerro Gordo beck in 2015 My very best, Dave
Supper Dave to the rescue(again and again) damn that guy is a genuine saint as a father one can only hope to have raised a person with such integrity. thanks for sharing, keep up the great work Brent!!
Brent-Your love for our beautiful California history makes you the richest man in the world. History will never forget your work and sacrifices. I’ve spoken about you to my 4th graders. I hope that one day young children can visit Cerro Gordo on field trips. Their young minds will be influenced and will carry on your work at Cerro Gordo and in other parts of California. Tons of respect for all the workers who’ve helped you.
As a 40+ year fire sprinkler guy, I am relieved to hear you've gotten something worked out for those in the hotel. Of course, the other end of that water storage requirement will be the fire pump required to deliver water to the system - that's going to be some fairly decent electrical demand, too. If done properly, though, the whole project could also serve to become the towns' water supply in general, too. It's a substantial undertaking for any location, leave alone one with the challenges Cerro Gordo offers. Best of luck with it! - Ed on the Ridge
Hey Brent, every time we all watch your progress w the brotherly love & your own empowerment- all this heart - I guarantee you that we all ARE SMILING EAR TO EAR as well. U so totally are not alone!😊
You should have rain catch systems on every building. Then maybe build a cistern for all that water to collect. Plus A system to catch snow melt would also do you a lot of good.
Hiya Brent my pops was a decorater and would sign his name or leave messages under the wallpaper as you go along with the rebuild of the hotel get your helpers and yourself to leave thoughts and messages on the rock wall on the breeze blocks etc make everyone a part of its new life and history
I will never forget crying with you when it burned. You have done amazing at rebuilding it. I can’t wait to visit. Also: HeavyD baby 🙌 an epic guy. Thank you for helping with the hotel. Love his channel too.
Brent is my new hero! Just discovered this channel tonight. What an adventure Cerro Gordo seems to be. I would love to make it there some day... Keep up the amazing work!!!
Great progress! Dave Sparks did indeed get things moving. Glad other companies are following his lead. You have a great start on recovery. Hearing Dave and crew are returning to help with the tanks is great news. I'm looking forward to A beer at the bar in a couple of years.
I'm so pleased that the American Hotel is being rebuilt - not only was it beautiful, it was the focal point for the town. Cerro Gordo has found it's perfect custodian in you Brent, and I'm amazed and delighted that you have inspired so many people to volunteer and actively preserve such an historical site, not just for yourself, but for future generations. I imagine a time when this fantastic place is going to be the field trip of a lifetime for students everywhere. I think that our history is so important, and people like you need to be thanked and applauded for your efforts. You have generated so much interest, and I think you have a mammoth task ahead, but I'm convinced that you're up to the challenge - BEST WISHES and GOOD LUCK!
It's soo amazing to see people help. The whole Dave Sparks helping out so much, i hope thats not just for content but for just helping out. If thats true he is one of the best people i have respect for.
Hats off to Dave, he's one in a million, also to all the other guys who have helped out. Happy to hear ur feeling positive again. Can't wait to see it completed.
This guy's life is a literal adventure right now, and I'm here for it. I'm amazed at everything he's trying to do, and now all the support he is receiving. Pretty awesome.
My heart broke for you when the hotel burned down. Not only for your loss but for the loss of such a beautiful and historic building. I'm excited to be able to follow along and see the new hotel being built. Thanks for "bringing me along" on this venture.
Listen man, blessing in disguise. The old one was historical but a town of 4000 that became a ghost town, only to be populated by Brent. Hotel burnt down, but if it didn't the new one would not have been built by Brent. The hotel being the heart of the town, and going forward the new one will have been built under Brents lead. All the better if you ask me
Perfect ad, man! That's exactly what I was talking about. I can support ad placement like that in videos. Not pushy or fancy, just to the point and it's something worth getting behind. Always super proud of everything you do! I'm so happy to see more progress being made and we can see that light burning bright inside you too! Keep up the awesome work!
Brent, your journey hasn't always been smooth and easy but you perseverance has been inspiring! Congratulations on the outstanding work you have accomplished at Cerro Gordo. As an avid watcher of the History channel I cannot fully express how grateful I am that you continue to preserve that towns past. Perhaps in time the History channel will do a feature documentary about the towns history and your preservation of it. Thanks again for taking us along for the journey.
Brent I got my son excited about Cerro Gordo bring him and myself up there to voleenter our time for you and the town. When I told him that this video came out his face lite up like a christmas tree. I could tell he was totally excited. I am so greatful to you for saving a bit of California history and for the chance to be able to explore and learn more about each ghost town in california that is saved.
I'm am so happy to see the progress on the American Hotel. I just watched Dave and his crew rescue a guy and his houseboat on Lake Mead. If it weren't for your channel, I wouldn't have been aware of Dave, so thank you for that too. Between the two channels, I have been able to virtually have so many amazing adventures. At the same time, I have also supported you by coming along. Win win in any book.
YOUR MESSAGE ABOUT REBUILDING THE HOTEL INSPIRED ME TO REBUILD MYSELF A YEAR or more ago AND THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!! I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE IT DONE, and SO EXCITED to see who ill be !!!
This channel makes me happy since this next chapter for Cerro Gordo is documented in this channel. Every step of the way along the path to restoring this place is here to stay.
That message at the end about how the internet is polarizing but this is something we can all get behind... that made me tear up. Thanks for being a spot of positivity and hope in a world of dread and doom, Brent.
I think of it this way, this is your love letter to Cerro Gordo. Whatever happens to this town next, to the land, to you; this building is now something tangible and something many many many more people can come and take a look at and enjoy because of your heart and determination. You are now as much a part of Cerro Gordo and its future as it is of you. You now have this unique perspective about what it is to build on this land seeking a bright future just like all those miners and everyone who played a part in the creation of Cerro Gordo. Not a lot of people can inspire so many others to lend a hand and come help a stranger in need.
I've been a maintenance man for apartments for over 26 years and I could build your Hotel from start too finish. Me and my wife have been together since we were 14 since 1988 , I'm going too follow you till I die. You are an American hero because you care about American history. I love you brother. I mean that. With all my heart. I need to see the American Hotel. I only make 16 too 20 an hour and I believe that I will never get too bring my wife and daughter too you I have tears falling from my eyes because I love you so much. And Heavy D Sparks brought me too you. Thank you for your videos. I'm just the little man who will follow you without having any extra money too help. And I believe you love me just as much. I wouldn't ever stop until it was built. I have nothing but love for every American people. My wife does Maintenance as well she's a maintenance woman as well. She can do anything I can do but she can grow a baby and that's something I can't do. She's my hero. I could only dream of visiting you and your town. I live in north Texas I believe your place is going to be only a dream too me. When he lost the Hotel my heart dropped like his. Sorry but because of you I'm going too see everything. Heavy D Sparks loves this town as much as I do. the American Hotel too me is everything.

FYI "too" is like as well, whereas "to" is a preposition. Well one good thing. Gives you faith that there are still good people in the world. Who love history and want to keep it alive and not lost. I can relate I once lived in a old two mile high mining town in the Colorado mountains. When I lived there you feel how life was years long ago. So I know how you feel in your new home. The touch of those before. Now your part of the future history of the town you love. The hotel looking good. Fantastic job Brent. 😄😎😃🇺🇸😏

I can't wait to come check out the hotel and do some hiking once you are done. Love following your channel as well and seeing all you have accomplishment so far!
That area can become a nice tourist destination someday; fire is what has destroyed most of the old buildings in California. Building out of concrete blocks is always the best way. The hotel looks like its off to a nice start. Keep up the good work.
so cool Dave is coming back to help. I saw his channel once and thought "ugh, guys being guys doing guy things.". then after I saw what he has done for Brent and Cerro Gordo, I saw he was so much more. now I'm a heavy D follower. lol. so happy to see Cerro Gordo coming together.
You should watch his latest video where he responded to 'Sin City Outdoors'. Sin City Outdoors is a Father/son duo hunting/fishing channel but lately have been doing videos on the drought out west and especially the alarming rate of the water disappearing from Lake Mead. Sin City Outdoors just a few days ago, was at Lake Mead in their fishing boat when they noticed an old houseboat stranded on a bank and went to investigate. Thank GOD they did! To get the full story, you should watch 'Sin City Outdoors--Stranded' first, then watch HeavyD's video. It is just simply Awesome what they ALL did for that old man, and it brings tears to my eyes, they such hearts of Gold.
@@deirdrepasko9965 I watched the HeavyD version. I came to know HeavyD through this channel. I thought the same thing ... guys doing guy things but you're right, they're so much more. So, so happy for you, Brent. You've made so much progress with the building of the hotel, not to mention your place down the hill. But, you know what was the best of it all? It was seeing the excitement and happiness back in your spirit. Your eyes were even lit up and smiling. Glad to see you've made it through the worst of it and back to the self you were when you first moved there, with the exception of a whole lot more experience and knowledge from all of that. Darn I missed the live chat 🌹

Awesome idea
I was at a restaurant/Whiskey Bar and after a fire they did exactly that. The took old Whiskey barrels apart and used the wooden slats, and branded the names of the people involved into them and covered a wall with all the wooden slats. Kinda like the bricks you can buy in front of stadiums and places like that.
I was gonna comment the same thing, only with bricks. People could buy a brick and have their name inscribed on it. They did it here with a clock tower
I believe this is already one of the patreon tiers.
I used to help build habitat for humanity homes.we would take donations for like 2x4 framing lumber ( studs.) And they would write their names on them. Until the sheating and drywall was on the house looked pretty well graphitied.
Heavy D is the REAL DEAL! He just helped a man at lake mead get his boat unstuck. He helps who ever needs it he’s a real one.

Heavy D is a flesh and blood superhero. This morning I watched him a rescue an old man’s home/boat that had been stranded for three weeks on the sand at Lake Mead.
Man that’s cool so much history here in this area.
That is super interesting!!!! Thanks for sharing.

Tons of respect for all the workers who’ve helped you.
I've watched this guy and have been rooting for him from the beginning.
As a 40+ year fire sprinkler guy, I am relieved to hear you've gotten something worked out for those in the hotel.
Of course, the other end of that water storage requirement will be the fire pump required to deliver water to the
system - that's going to be some fairly decent electrical demand, too.
If done properly, though, the whole project could also serve to become the towns' water supply in general, too.
It's a substantial undertaking for any location, leave alone one with the challenges Cerro Gordo offers.
Best of luck with it!

Well I was watching this video I was thinking solar panels or solar shingles. I mean that might be an option for him out there
Put the tanks above the motel in elevation, and you don't need anything to have good pressure at the sprinklers. Gravity will do all the work for em.
Always love the ingenuity of D and his team. They’ll figure it out , we should all aspire to do the same

I love how this isn't just a story about Cerro Gordo; it's also a story about personal discovery and development
You should have rain catch systems on every building. Then maybe build a cistern for all that water to collect. Plus A system to catch snow melt would also do you a lot of good.
Unfortunately that is illegal in California according to an earlier video he made.

This is how people coming in together and don’t wait until their life ended.God Bless to all those people who’s helped.
Every time I see that clip of you crying after the loss of the beautiful hotel, it makes me want to grab you and hug you!! You are doing an amazing job and I'm so thankful you've allowed us to follow along with you.
This is really heartening. I've been following your journey pretty much from the beginning a couple of years go and the fire at the American Hotel was a devastating event but, you know, when people follow your conviction and belief in this whole project people want to get on board and be involved. Congratulations to you and everyone who comes to your aid and shares your vision. Love this channel, thanks Brent. Dave is a real hero!
I'm sooo absolutely stoked for you. I cried along with you at the loss of that magnificent historic hotel. Dream big dreams! KIA kaha from New Zealand!
So happy for you. I am 66 years old and my spine is not good. But my philosophy in life is do a little each day and you’ll get it done. I have a beautiful yard and garden because of that reason, thanks I do a little each day. I would love to see this someday. Keep your videos coming I love to watch them.
Brent, you're a treasure. I can't wait to come visit the new American Hotel and explore Cerro Gordo!
Love the work you’re doing there. Thanks for letting us know about it.
We have been watching your channel for just a few weeks now. So impressed with what you have done and with the help of people like Dave Sparks. My husband and I would like to come and visit when your done. By to he way, are you going to have an RV Park?
Wish we could come sooner but we are in the process of building our house. We are retired so this will be our dream home.
You are such a great person for taking this on!
I'm so stoked to see that you finally got the permissions to go on wards with The American Hotel-project! I'm so happy for you! Best of everything for you Brent! Oh, greetings from Finland :)
I have been watching you since the first video, but my husband has only just start catching a few with me in the last 6 to 9 months and the other day watching this he mentioned how amazing it would be to one day to be able to bring our kids to visit and share in the absolutely fascinating history of Cerro Gordo. I was rather surprised and touched that this channel and journey that has meant a lot to me to be apart of has made such an impact on him too that hi wants to visit one day.
Thanks for all the hard work you and everyone else up there is putting in to bring this town back to life
Brent, there has been nothing but beneficial elements the burning down loss has brought to U. It’s going to be safe- u won’t worry when I look into your guests’ eyes. & Just Think..
Think of ALL THE GLORIOUS HUMANS it ha brought! You have great new loving family w your Cerro Gordo Brotherhood in the Diesel Brothers & both your crews & volunteers! Pl who have your back that care about a man seeing his dreams through. & they are men of God. What mor could u ask for in life?! U cannot fail! Everyone loves u & seeing u happy revives our own hope for life.
Very Powerful, Brent. Very Powerful.
Perhaps the third time is the charm. I've reached out before to see if you have any historic photographs of stained glass windows that used to adorn the original hotel. We'd love to recreate them for inclusion in the new version.
I think that's a great idea!
Wow... I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes.... Just moved by the emotion of it all. Moved by the history and the stories but... more than anything, it's such a joy, to see people coming together... body, mind, and spirit... to help one another and lift each other up, on this journey! Kudos to ALL involved. THANK Y'ALL for all your efforts! I was lucky enough to find this channel from day one, and I'll be here, from now on! Lovvve from Texas!! ✌🤠💕
Great video brent really looking forward to the hotel going up
You and me both!
Never met you in person Brent but I feel like you are so close to me in my heart that it spans time and space. The emotional energy you have shown towards Cerro Gordo is 2nd only to what I feel for the place and I've never been there.
Your videos and connection to Dave Sparks hits me right in the soul. I have never felt so connected to something in my life.
True, from the heart kindness makes me tear up every time... especially the way the world is today. Heavy D is an amazing man with an outstanding sense of 'paying it forward' including his crew as well. So happy for you.🤗
I absolutely 💕 LOVE the help and village that came to you in regards to cement, labor, etc. I’ve been down this rabbit hole with you, thru your posts since 2020, my husband unexpectedly and tragically passed in 2020, and I have a passion for abandoned and historical sites….so THIS has been one of the things, pulling me out of a dark place. Thank you
So sorry for your loss. I lost my late husband in '08 and it is devastating. I love 'rescue' anything from houses, historical sites, animals, mountain and water rescues... reminds me there are still good ppl in this world.
this probably my favorite UA-cam channel & I've seen a bunch. Robby Layton & all #2. cause you ppl are giving ppl! you guys n gals that commute & gather to assist in this MASSIVE undertaking I tip my hat to each of you!! I spent all my years building schools & you name it all prior to my stroke. too many to count. you don't have to go to work, you get to go to work. what an achievement this will be..& the friendships gained along the way... I travelled just past C/G 4/2021 on my way to drive the west coast to Vancouver Washington from Malibu, didn't know a thing about C/G or I would have went to meet Brent. what a man of vision in our current times. good luck to everyone involved!!! be safe! hope to visit one day now that I do know. recently learned how to twitter so now following. seen all videos to date not a bad one in the bunch stay young & healthy. be kind & love one another...... Dave your the man too...........keep on trucking!
thanks for the update. So happy you've gotten through the gov red tape. Having Dave Sparks in your corner is huge. Love his content and generosity. Seeing the block going up gave me a warm fuzzy that good things are happening. I plan on spending some time visiting some day. Gotta get my overland creations going so I can. See you then.
Good to hear. Glad it's moving forward. Sparks is a great asset
