    Was the ground work done with him before? with saddle on etc...? For me It looks like he got a green light to do rearing and backing from the lady who was holding him on a lounging lead...

    One rein stop would have been your friend there. If you turn a horse's nose to their side they can't really buck or rear, and it makes them work harder for doing the wrong thing.

    The other day i rode a stallion pony who hasnt been ridden in... probably 7 months. we free lunged in the round pen for like 30 minutes, worked on laying on his back bareback, without being off the ground, flinging things by him. and when i got on, nothing, he was fine, no surprises, he listened well, he didnt buck, he didnt take off. he stood nicely, thats the power of groundwork. (not to mention there were mares around, but he was so well behaved even after 7 months because of ground work!!! I guarantee if we had not done that he would have been bucking.)

    I had that happen to me today. My loan pony Dolly, who I've only ridden a few times, started bronking so I fell off onto my chest, and then abt 10 minutes later, I had the first canter I've had on her yet, and the first couple went well, but then something happened, but it was too fast for me to know, and I fell off, bashed my head into the fence, then landed on my head and neck. I was lying there for a good 60 seconds, really dizzy with stars and spots covering my eyes and I couldn't see, so my mum thought I had a concussion. But I don't think I do, although I still feel dizzy and my head hurts an hour after...
    But I got back on and just had a little walk. Hopefully, I don't have to buy a new helmet cuz they are very expensive haha.

    I think that the girl should’ve done one rein stop, got off, lunged or just let him go out in a pasture or a pen (ofc without tack) to get all his/hers energy out bc my horse I have to lunge bc he likes to get fast and basically gallop off when I jump him, canter him, etc. but that’s just my suggestion! :) btw good job for staying on so long, I could never!! 😂

    Have a knowledgeable trainer do complete groundwork before attempting getting on his back... nothing will change unless this is done and then the horse will be a 'problem'. No problem horses just problem riders. Read my book Equus Caballus - on horses and handling. If you don't go back to the basics you will get hurt!

You can guess but you shouldn’t assume. I for one guess that the bit is not the issue. Horses don’t only buck from pain of the bit, it can be from various things.

    Everything on the place is waste, which has to be removed completely to avoid accidents. Even the fence is more a problem than a part of the security system. Riding halls have no vertical walls for a good reason. Such places are the places, where serious accidents will happen. Riding is not really a dangerous sport, but these things make it really dangerous. There is only silly reasons to giggle and laugh as in the video.

    okay, obviously the horse didn't want you on its back. Horses have bad days too and anyway you are the one who is coming into his let's say''personal'' space. He doesn't HAVE TO carry you around and jump over poles. (or whatever you're making him do) Also your reins are quite short so when you do get back on you should have loosened them more because of the bit. Honestly no hate towards you,you handled it well without stirrups but I am just pointing out the horse probably wanted to get you off or something like that.

    • @rebeccak6834
      @rebeccak6834 6 років тому +2

      Lilliah Rigby The horse had been on box rest meaning there would have been a lot of pent up energy, the reason you keep your reins short when a horse misbehaves is so you have more control over the head and neck (if you have loose reins it's easy for them to dip their head and shoulder, and lift their headquarters to get you off). It's got nothing to do with her reins, it's just pent up energy from not being ridden (and probably forgetting what it's like to be ridden)

    Sorry but, you folks have no idea what you`re doing. The horse is in pain because of the bit. Look how far back it is. And everytime it bucked, the rider yanked on the reins increasing the pain. Without the tie-down it would`ve thrown the rider off in seconds. It managed to do so in the end anyway. And after everything failed, the other woman put a rope on the bridle trying to secure the horse. So one person who doesn`t know what she`s doing, applies pressure from the back. And the other person, equally as clueless, applies pressure from the side. We saw how well that worked. In the end, you taught the horse to buck even harder because it knows that, when it bucks, the rider will eventually fall off releasing the pain in its mouth. Ride bitless. We do it all the time. It works. And please, please learn how to read horses. It`s the first thing I did before I started working with them. Learned how they communicate to each other and how their body language works.

    • @BlackFoxFalcon
      @BlackFoxFalcon 5 років тому +2

      @@rw3205 It still amazes me how offended you folks get when someone tries to explain what happens. So you do that aswell in this case. I`m guessing. And since you don`t like being criticised, you start to insult people. Sure works.
      This horse isn`t napping. The horse is moving. It`s not planting it`s feet onto the ground. Napping horses also tend to look at things longer. In a nutshell, when a horse is napping, it doesn`t look like that. The horse in the video is bucking. And if you don`t see the difference, then you should maybe educate yourself a bit more about horses.
      Get a grip.

      , I'm also like any others responsible enough to have insurance for my horses too..... do you do all of that ? including public liability insurance for myself and others around me .... all of that and you have a. happy healthy horse

    • @BlackFoxFalcon
      @BlackFoxFalcon 5 років тому +2

      @@rw3205 And you`re still offended. So now you try to show the world what a good horse owner you are. I don`t say you aren`t. But looking at your first comment, it contradicts that. What you say you do for your horse is what every decent horse owner should do. You act like what you do is extraordinary. Do you want me to tell you what I do for my horse? No. And let me tell you why. Because I care for my horse. Is it just an image for you that you`re writing all this? Do you know how you can be sure that what you do for your horse is right? The human won`t give you the answer. The horse will. The horse will tell you if what you`re doing is right or not. And I`m not talking about teeth etc.
      Communication is one of the most important tools while working with horses. A horse will do a handstand if you communicate it correctly. A horse needs security, guidance and a partner. You also have to be a "higher horse". Establishing a hierarchy is key. A higher horse won`t follow directions of a lower horse. And so on and so forth. Look, I`m not a horse expert. Not at all. But this much I know, I didn`t use any form of violence or pain compliance to get where I am today. Just clear communications. If your horse screws up, who do you blame? Let me guess: Your horse. But, correct me when I`m wrong.
      Do you know who I blame? ME. Because if she messes up at something, then I didn`t communicate it properly. So what do I do afterwards? I think. I look at the situation and try to see what I did wrong. And until now, this worked out perfectly. A horse talks to you all the time. But you gotta be able to read those signals. If you can`t do that, you end up like me many, many years ago. Clueless. When I started working, well, working doesn`t quite cut it there, with horses, the only thing I knew about a horse is how it looks like. And boy did that go wrong. They were pushing me around like a pinball. After quite some time, I stood there, looking at the situation I`m in and said to myself: "Damn it! That doesn`t work!" So what did I do? I started to educate myself about horses. But this comment starts to get too long.
      Look, I`m not saying that you`re a horrible horse owner and what not. But when somebody came to me telling me what I should do different with the horse, I didn`t get mad at her or him. I took the advice. Tried it out. And if it worked, which in pretty much all cases it did, perfect. Do you wanna know how many times I messed up? A lot. But that`s how I learned. And that`s how I still learn. Trial and error. It`s a very complex subject matter.
      It`s a long way down when your head is in the clouds.
