I went to Amma few years ago for the first time from Sydney, Australia. Last time I went to Amma was 9 months ago with my wife, and Amma promised us that She is going to bless us with a baby boy and named the baby, and today the baby is born and it's a boy:) She keeps her promise. Much Love

It seems to me she is patiently formulating heart answers to head questions. The questions seek to codify and analyse. Rick is sorting the cds; Amma is listening to the glorious orchestra.

I am grateful for this interview with Shri Amma Karunamayi Karunamayi. If you carefully listen to her message, compassion ,purity and devotion will bring us into direct line with God. As for taking time to be with her and other avatars, it is possible to love all agents of god. there is no problem except in the minds of people however if you feel a loyalty follow your heart we are all one family!

Sri Amma Karunamayi cannot be discovered in words. She is the pure presence of the Heart. As far as the second question Rick asked, it seems many of you missed Amma's response. She already answered his question in her response to his first question and laughed when Rick basically rephrased the first question as "Is it possible for the Divine Mother to take birth simultaneously in several different incarnations , so could there be 2 or 3 incarnations of the Divine Mother, just expressing in different ways?" She said the Divine Mother is LOVE, so naturally the Divine mother can have more than one incarnation at the same time. This is why Sri Amma laughed. In fact, a deeper realization is everyone is an incarnation of the Divine Mother. LOL.

Kosi She could have answered the question like that, but in reality she paused and then the attendant asked Rick to move on to the next question.

Kosi You should know that this is not how it is with the Ammas. They are in competition with each other. Ammachi bristled when she found out that her devotees were helping Karunamayi; it was NOT a free love for all kind of thing, but a very separate event, choose one. Read her ex-attendant's book on this for evidence. You will NEVER hear any of these women tell their disciples to feel free to follow whatever female guru happens upon the scene; don't misconstrue that only male gurus are exclusive but not the female ones. No, let me tell you they are just as competitive as the men, if not more. They may, to look nice, give lip service to the idea, in public, that there may be many faces of the feminine goddess, but do know this, they mean that they are number one, the fullest incarnation; the others are feeble, lesser, not as great. This one is par for the course. She declined to speak on the subject because she did not want to describe the lies of it all. This one sat in silence for many years, which Amma did not; don't think she isn't jealous and critical of her popularity. I am sure she has plenty to say about Ammachi, just not in public, not on batgap, that's for sure.

Sri Amma Karunamayi is a real guru, saint, and avatar. She will never be found in the mind-she is simple a pure embodiment of the infinite presence of the Heart.

Rick, I hope you're not too bothered by the flack in the comments here.
I knew about Amma from the Souljourns videos some time ago and thought about her often. I'd even kept thinking about visiting her in the US, though truth be told, not so much as a bhakti pursuit but more out of curiousity and yearning for relief through an idea of somebody who could help. At any rate, I was very excited for this interview. When I was watching it live I became very uncomfortable and felt awkward for some reason. I agree with another commenters description that it was 'underwhelming'. At one point I laughed out loud out and said 'Amma, what are you doing?' and had to close the interview. I didn't understand why it didn't unfold the way I had expected it to.
This all being said, I believed she was an Avatar, and I still believe she is an avatar. The day after the interview, I realized my interest and fascination with her was completely gone and I felt so much lighter as a result. I realized it was just another cord of attachment that was severed. No more sense of separation, as if to imply that the divine mother was anywhere other than always right here, right now. Either its all perfectly divine or nothing is. People expect her to sound incredibly holy and poignant so they can have something to point to and call it the truth. Understandably, people will remain convinced that she is a fraud and I am forever a fool, but my intuition tells me that every reaction to this video is just what each individual needs. Hearts being tempered.
I thought your interview skills were superb as always. I always enjoy your presence,

Jesus, you guys are a harsh crowd. She didn't want to answer the question, so what? - If she wanted to fool anyone she could have said "yes" or "no" or whatever, but she didn't want to walk down that road for some reason. Perhaps she just didn't want to go into a "If there is only one, what about others claiming to be divine mothers?"-debate or something. Better to have a person say no, than give a BS answer.

Namaste. Amma said Divine Mother is only love. Why would only one person be able to be an embodiment of divine compassion free of ego? To answer such a question would be to give it energy. Amma has walked the wslk of compassion. She very respectfully declined to comment. If that upsets anyone it is only due to ego pattern alone. May you all experience deep meditation and freedom from all suffering. Jai Karunamayi!

Regarding incarnation.......in modern computer science it is called fork( ) ....what we can do on a machine/software why do you think great souls can't do it in consciousness field.....? Why she chose to remain silent is to avoid expectations......just sit in guru's presence , try meditation and find out for yourself.

Edited that question out? Wow. For me, that was the most revealing part of the original interview; flagging her up as most probably a fraud.
I've watched dozens of your interviews, Rick. I enjoy them and thank you for your hard work.
However, I think It's important to keep everything in, otherwise the Batgap project risks losing integrity, as well as the implicit trust of its viewers.
The content belongs to you, not to the interviewees.

I'm confused. I thought that Rick followed Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Ammachi), the "hugging saint". I have visited that Amma, enjoyed her hug, and been very impressed with the atmosphere she creates. There seem to be several Ammas helping people, and it would be helpful to have interviews with as many of them as possible, or at least a description of how they differ, such as in their teachings or practices.
I believe that many of the comments below reflect a total mistaking of Amma Sri Karunamayi for Ammachi. I wish someone would explain how they differ.

i appreciate the comment as how the editing came about, but, still, for those that say her avoiding the question was ok, i dont think so. if she really thinks she is the one true mother of the universe then say it. she may have a specific attainment but that does not negate all humanity's potential to be mothers and fathers of the highest level, too.

*Rating refused due to a falsification of history in connection with this interview.* According to Rick Archer, Rick Archer allowed Karunamayi's attendant to edit out a very telling and insightful moment in the interview which led many viewers to get a glimpse of a very questionable aspect of this Indian Guruism. The editing out itself, however, gave an even more disquieting insight into the "culture" around such Gurus, and the consecutive selective censorship of comments about this gave an even more interesting look at the psycho-social dynamics of Indian type Guruism. While I am not among those who conclude that she is not real based on this event, I find this one of the worst instances of obfuscation and propaganda on BATGAP. It clearly demonstrates also that, as another commentor mentioned, "if Rick was going for the truth, he wouldn't get to interview these people" or some such.

    • @jazzsnare
      @jazzsnare 9 років тому +2

jazzsnare Oh, I see it now; her peeps did it. After thinking about it, I still have to stand by the fact that before we give faith in a guru, we MUST investigate them, as ruthlessly as possible. This is necessary and I believe it is expected within Eastern principles. I don't want to take away from any glories this Guru may be showering upon humanity and I applaud her assistance to those whom she definitely helps. The interviewer is her devotee and meant no insult. I think the question about other divine mothers was not unfair or out of line. There is something suspect when she danced around it. One would not expect this from a realized world savior, who should, by definition, be above this. Interestingly she did not start out by touching devotees on the forehead; she only started with this after noting the success of Ammachi, who hugs all and sundry. Then, she starts touching everybody. Why? Why did she change her modus operandi? Was it because it worked for her ostensible rival, Ammachi? There is something that smells wrong when Ammachi did not speak the truth against fellow South Indian guru, Sai Baba, who almost definitely was raping his male disciples. Perhaps that is because she feared a counter-accusation against her misdeeds. Doesn't this remind one of the Greek gods, or for that matter, the Indian gods? Screwing with each other all the time and shit? I think that before we give allegiance to a guru, we have the right and the obligation to ask tough questions; batgap must stand for integrity, and not become batcrap. It must not become a showcase for those who seek a venue to aggrandize themselves. She may be a legitimate mother of the universe, for all I know. But, we must ask ourselves, was the dancing around the question out of deep love or was it out of something else. All I'm sayin'.

Is it me or is it the interview? This just didn't work for me. Maybe I just need a hug.
I consider myself a devotee of the Divine Feminine which I call Mother McCree (Mother of my Heart) as well as Ama. So I was looking forward to this interview but it just didn't touch my heart. Some commentators here have called her a fraud. I don't think so. I believe that if you are going to approach the Divine Feminine without coming from your heart you will not meet Her. I think that this is what happened here. Rick asked each question from his head and not from his heart and the Mother of the Universe had nothing to offer such an approach. Amma Sri Karunamayi is all about heart as is Mother McCree.

There was a time when her name was Sri Karunamayi and then "Amma" was added. I strongly believe her devotees, or even she herself, are trying to capitalize on the fame of Mata Amritanandamayi who is 100 times more known as "Amma". I understand "Amma" means mother but still.......Really!!!!!!! There is even a man who is using "Amma"...a man!!!!! And who has the website www.amma.org?

No one has ownership of the word “Amma”. Karunamayi is an Amma. There are many Amma’s in India. Most devotees call their female guru Amma or Maa.

      Rick Archer
Thanks for the explanation, Rick. I would recommend taking down this edited version.
Whatever the motivation, editing it has an appearance of hiding something.
And as a matter of principle, no one except you as the producer should make an independent editing decision, it's a bad precedent & diminishes the integrity of your presentation.
For the record, I have no issue with her not answering that question, it may have more to do with not wanting to entangle in interpersonal politics/ competition with other people purporting similar status than her own or her organization trying to avoid the topic per se.

Rick Archer does not seem able to distinguish between spirituality and religion. All I saw in this was Hinduism. And the next interview is about Buddhism - again. I remember when Batgap was about spiritual awakening. What happened to that? I say bring back Harri Aalto. Archer said he was going to have him on a regular basis, but maybe he was too good and made the rest of those interviewed look like they were in the kindergarten. I appreciate the kindness of this woman in doing good works, but kindness is not spirituality. Spirituality is transcendence. Enlightenment is the ultimate transcendence beyond everything. This woman is not the Divine Mother - there is no such thing. That is just religion and all religion traps the soul in its web,. but Rick Archer seems too blind to see this. Every week we hear some stupid biblical quote from him about a jesus who never was or a Krishna who never existed. Just myths for the ignorant peasant. Prayers, blessings, fire ceremonies -all religious nonsense. All that counts is realisation of the Self. Her claim that all paths lead to the same destination is stupid. If it were true millions would be awakened today, which they are not. There is nothing spiritual about service nor is it karma yoga; Karma Yoga is when, as the result of knowing the formless SELF as yourself, actionless action follows, not the other way round. The Self is beyond karma. When there is no longer an identification with a doer and an actor then there is freedom. That is what it is all about.

Moonsod Appreciated. Powerful words here... The Dalai Lama said the essence of his religion is summed in one word: kindness. I guess too much was packed into that word. I think you are right; there is a distinction between kindness, compassion versus transcendence... But, they are closely related. Like Soterio, I am not sure I would go as far as you do with regard to prayers and blessings...On another note, I was never comfortable with the divine mother trip because it makes the masculine seem, well, not important, not even mentioned in polite divine mother company. An adolescent once publicly asked Ammachi this. Why is the good regarded as feminine, as if love is exclusively feminine? Where is the divine father, who is never even mentioned, with almost studious meticulous avoidance? In the Western tradition, God loved the world; what happened? I don't see where the masculine principle is integrated into these divine mother scenarios; I do not think this is healthy for males, particularly the younger they are, speaking from a psychological viewpoint. But, I digress.

Daniel Avital I have had the oppurtunity to work with Amma many times in close encounters and I must say, she is far from a fraudulent bully. She really "walks her talk", just look at what she has done to eliminate hunger, lack of clean water, lack of medical facilities, and so much more in India and elsewhere. And how do you know for sure what an "awakened being" is like; as far as I know, they don't conform to our ways? She truly is a kind person and really goes far and beyond to make sure that as much as possible, the suffering of those around her is alleviated. That is my personal EXPERIENCE, not belief or what somebody else has said.
