    Yes, there is a much better way to air up on the trail.
    If you are like me, airing up or airing down are not on your top 5 list of things we do while overlanding.
    Airing up your tires with 1 hose doing 1 tire at a time takes at least 30 minutes to 45 minutes especially if you are using a single compressor pumping out an average of 1.3 CFM of air!
    A tire can take about 2.5 CFM (cubic feet per minute) which is the fastest you can go, regardless of compressor speed.
    Especially working on 1 tire at a time!
    This is my 1 stress on the trail.. holding everyone else back. Checking pressure with another tool, adds time as well for accuracy.
    So now enter Thor's Lightning Dual compressor, which pumps out as much as 10 CFM of air! Remember max per tire is 2.5? Well 10 ÷ 4 tires is 2.5 each. This is the fastest you can air up. The 4 hoses simple push down on your valve stem (no screwing it down) and you turn on the air. Now Air up time goes from 30-40 minutes, down to 4-6 minutes!!! You are no longer the slow guy in the group!
    Especially if there is weather, you just want to get the task done!
    Another huge benefit, is you get even distribution of air into all 4 tires. This is important for load balance, even wear, and safety.
    How many times have you filled up a tire too much because you are chatting with buddies, only to spend extra time letting some air out to get to your desired air pressure!
    I know I have.
    Also you can use the 4 hose system to air down. It takes about the same 4-5 minutes to go from 35psi to 12psi. Again.. Accurate pressure between ALL 4 tires, brilliant. No more getting it "close" to one another or being off my 1-2 PSI.
    This is a game changer for me, time saver and I am now excited to air up or down on the trail.

    This is a decent unti exact same unit moorflate uses(which is FAST) But it cant be mounted were it can get wet dusty or the like so bear that In mind. The 4 wheel setup is priceless tho. worth every penny jmo

      Totally worth it! Time is money and this saves a ton of time. They do make several mounts, but I prefer portability to bring from Land Cruiser to Land Cruiser.. lol..
      The moorflate is good too, one difference is the hoses. Moors is 1/4" and Thors is 3/8". Although tires can take a max amount of air (2.5 CFMs) which both hoses carry, the bigger 3/8" helps if you are airing up a mattress, waterfront toys, blowup doll, that can take higher pressure.

    Nice! Having a fast inflate also makes it so you don't have to have your car running the whole time and wasting all that gas. The actual compressor looks like the one that's been quite popular that NAPA sells which is rarely if ever in stock. But I'm sure it's basically the same manufacturer.

      @CruisingTheLand  9 місяців тому +1

      Yes Atlas airs down fast. But when you air up by the valve, the fastest is 2.5 cubic feet a minute and the compressor is 10cfm ÷ 4 is your max speed.

      @CruisingTheLand I have 2-5 gallon air tanks mounted under the rear with 4 viar 485c pumps mounted inside to. 260ah lithium battery wich supplies higher voltage than the under hood batteries due to the fact of a dc-dc 50 amp charger.also have two small brushless fans on a timed relay to keep them cool during continuous duty. At 200 psi it will push faster than that 2.5cfm rating. You can easily test this yourself using a real shop compressor and seeing how fast the tires fill.that pump rating of 10cfm is at zero psi free flowing. It severely reduces the higher the air pressure in the tires are fighting back against it. The only reason I have this crazy setup is so I can run my welder,plasma cutter,lockers and certain air tools. Regardless that's still an impressive single duty portable pump for the price

    • @floridaman1776
      @floridaman1776 9 місяців тому

      @CruisingTheLand little tech tip to help understand what I'm talking about. 2.6cfm from 30psi to atmospheric (assuming approx. sea level) translates to a flow area equivalent to a 0.063" hole.
      At 90psi, flowing to atmospheric, will be about 6.1cfm.
      This gets a bit weirder when you talk about inflating tires, as you're not flowing to atmosphere, but between two different pressure vessels

    Thanks for the video. A question - do you know what gauge wire is going from the compressor to the battery? At 12 Volts, 90 AMPS I would expect it to be 4 or 6 gauge. The connector wires seem to be under sized for the compressor. That may be a Quality flag for me.

    • @CruisingTheLand

      Standard hose. Because each tire valve will accept 2.5psi max, compressor is 10 PSI, so 4 tires X 2.5 PSI = 10. Which is perfect. The red hose now is all you need.

      To me, time is the most important commodity. We can't control time, but whenever I can buy time, it's worth it. If I can air up in 6 minutes versus 30 minutes, I just bought myself 24 minutes.. To get home and spend that extra time with my family, friends or having fun. To some people, money is most important to them.
