Just saw them in Boston, last week, and I was moved by "Martirio". That last solo note Dany sings was positively spellbinding. I was in the front row, right in front of her, and I got chills over my whole body!
I was at Boston, too. Martirio isn't my favorite from Mayday, but live it was practically a whole new song. "Spellbinding" is not too strong of a description.
The band said about this video that it was a very full day. Filmed in the mountains of their home state (Nuevo Leon, Mexico), they were up very early for an hour-long drive to reach the location before dawn, and were there until after dark to get all the scenes.
Just an absolutely beautiful song. I would say its one of my favorites, but all their songs are. I remember when you would buy a cd and get lucky if you liked more than 4 out of the 12 tracks on the album. So far, they've released 7 and every one of them rocks. Amazing musicians and people. my understanding of “entrégate” is to “surrender yourself to” or “resign yourself to”. i like surrender because it implies ceasing to fight - not to be confused with losing.
As with most Warning songs, the meaning of this song is subject to interpretation (and I'm sure they write them that way). I have always taken this song to be about someone is a stifling relationship. They stay in the relationship because, well ... that's the way it is! The obvious thing that they just can't see is that their fate is in their own hands. All that they have to do is say goodbye! Great song, amazing video, wonderful reaction!!
I'm convinced this song and video is their best work. When you consider the history of the song, they've had in their back pocket for a number of years, and the effort put into the desert location. It may or may not be anybody's favorite song, but it's their best work for sure :)
I can’t not get goosebumps listening to Martirio. It is a perfect composition from Pau’s intricate and original drum patterns to Ale’s bass line and then Dany’s dynamic vocals. Great reaction!
Great reaction. When The Warning releases a new song I think it's my new favorite. I love their Mayday EP. Every song has meaning and hooks you every time you listen to them. After seeing them live in St. Louis, I was blown away by their musicianship and stage presence. A Warning concert is a must see indeed!🤘😎⚠️
I had the great honor of seeing them live in Salt Lake City a few weeks back and their live performance of Martirio is such a phenomenal experience, it is every bit as powerful live as is this video. If you get the opportunity see them live while they tour this year I admonish you to do so, they are in my opinion the best live act out there right now. Fun facts: their Mom and a cousin were 2 of the figures in black. Also the tent was not supposed to be ripped but the high winds tore it. There is at least one behind the scenes photo where a sheet is wrapped around Pau's face.

Ok, about your request for a better translation, my only correction is for the word "Martyrdom", that isn't the real translation to Martirio (at least not completely accurate). I've seen english speakers make this mistake a lot, and is the reason because you tend to think about religious things listening this song, the thing is, Martirio in spanish means "agony", not necessarily martyrdom, even could be used in that way, most of the time is used in a non religious way.
Not completly correct about the agony thing, happens that in spanish we use some words that cant be translated into the english because depends how we use them, agonia and martirio has different meaning, and the way they are used in the song is to describe someone that is inflicting pain on himself, is punishing himself because their is no need to suffer. I think we make martyrs of ourselves when we bombard ourselves with negative thoughts. It is better to say goodbye than to live in fear. We owe it to ourselves to break away from the chains of suffering and fear...no need to be a foolish self made martyr. Definitely my No.1 from the Mayday EP followed closely by Evolve. Their all great songs but this one just stands out above all the others for me.
