    A new PHD&D video and a cup of coffe, now I have the perfect morning.
    In VRG, isn't the Shadow Rift implied to be the underground part of Tepest, with Gwydion's Claw and such?

    Excellent video as always! I really love the dynamic final battle you’ve created. Also, I love everything fey, so it was cool to hear about this Domain of times past.
    My request for a Domain video another old domain, Liffe, and the temporal horror of Baron Lyron Evensong, who lives 100 years every night trapped within his manor.

    Amazing video as always! I also imagined Loth and Maeve as Nuada and Nuala. All of Hellboy comics are a great inspiration for the Shadow Rift, as in its stories there are a lot of mythic and fey creatures mixed with cosmic horror and Lovecraftian themes. Also, if you like the Shadow Fey I would also recommend a book you didn't mention that can be very helpful in a Ravenloft game, the Van RIchten's Guide to the Shadow Fey, published during the 3rd edition. This book, the adventure The Shadow Rift and the Gazetteer V are the best sources of info for the official lore of the Shadow Fey in Ravenloft.

    yooo been so looking forward to a new vid! I've been consuming a lot of the recommended medias you mention as well in your videos to get an imaginative grasp and it's been such a fun ride. I'm also knee-deep in the twilight zone now. Nothing to do with your actual video now, but I'm so looking forward to watching it when I'm more free.

      @@phdnd-drbowers Not the OP, but any chances Lamordia, Mordent or Falkovnia are somewhere on the list? 👀Definitely preparing to run those at some point, already got some ideas but very curious about your takes. Also if the channel is expanding beyond VRG, maybe Verbrek? It's a classic domain that didn't get as much as a paragraph in 5e (which is weird because Nathan Timothy is explicitly mentioned and apparently still canon)

      @@phdnd-drbowers First of all great vid! You're really good at reskinning adventures some might otherwise never get to play the dungeons off.
      Forlorn is still my favorite to read about and convert into 5e, but I'm mostly curious if you have any media recommendations to consume for forlorn as inspiration at the top of your head.
      but other than that I've really gotten ''bitten'' by Richemulot, the idea of the standard low level-campaign Rat being the center of it all really feels like it has a lot of horror potential.

    Can’t remember if I’ve said this before, but if you’re looking for inspiration for Borca, Ivan Dilisnya has a perfect real-world counterpart: Chris Chan. Watch a couple episodes of the documentary and you’ll see what I mean.

    • @tibot4228

      Isn't it the reverse? Chris Chan is an autistic person whose entire life has been obsessively monitored and publically catalogued by the internet.

    Oh sweet! This domain hasn't been on my list since I've only been running the ones from VRG with my group, but I might just have to ask them if they'd be interested in it. Great job!
    Also a question I've been dying to ask, what's the track that plays at the start of your videos (right after the title card) and during the description of the domain? Because I absolutely need to add it to the soundtrack of my Ravenloft sessions 😅

    This one looks exciting, and given how much my players liked Tepest, I think they'll like this one too. I love how well the heist from Golden Vault slots into the narrative here, very little needs to be changed. I might consolidate some of the other maps though, like the graveyard temple, to make them a little less sprawling to help keep the story on track. I'm really excited to have another adventure in Tier 3; it's fun to really get to play with class abilities. Thanks again and any update on the compilation adventure book you've been working on?

    Great video as always! Now I am curious about other domains not in VRGtR. Also have you ever thought of doing an adventure for Vendamir. It's like an official, hombrew domain of dread made by Talisan Jaffe to advertise the book

    • @phdnd-drbowers
      @phdnd-drbowers  11 місяців тому

      Thank you so much for watching, commenting, and asking! I have never heard of Vendamir... is it an official Domain or a home-brewed one? I assume that the terms "official" and "home-brewed" are opposites, no? Best wishes, and cheers!

      @@phdnd-drbowers So the maker isn't an official designer but plays DND with Critical Role but makes it with a WoTC employee. It was done in a stream to advertise the book release, so I would say it's Semi-official. Like it probably won't be in any future book but it's made and approved by WoTC. If you want the article it's called "Taliesin Jaffe’s Domain of Dread: Vendamir, a Land of Tomes and Ashes" on DND beyond.

    Now now, not every human is in danger in the shadow rift.... Useful, skilled people can have a long life as a changeling slave. =p

  • @BetNaph

    Tasha was techniqually human and then turned Archfey, how would you twist the "all she can do" part in the agreement?

    • @phdnd-drbowers
      @phdnd-drbowers  11 місяців тому

      Wonderful question! Because they're in the Shadowfell and not the Feywild, Maeve *cannot* turn anyone else into a Fey or Archfey. Those shenanigans may work in the Disney-world of the Feywild, but not in the Shadowfell's grimdark clime. The problem with taking Tasha as an example, in other words, is that Tasha didn't become an Archfey in a nightmare Demiplane of Dread, which drains all emotion, aspiration, and will to live. Lucky her! No? ;-)

    At this point, the adventure is over.
    Well, except maybe for teaching Maeve the fine line between loopholes and BS-ing, with a few good kicks to the head. Even good aligned PCs ought not put up with that level of being tricked into working for free.

    • @phdnd-drbowers
      @phdnd-drbowers  9 місяців тому

      Yes, there's definitely a lot of opportunity for role-play and elaboration at the end, there! I didn't want Maeve to be a boss fight or anything, and felt the adventure had already reached its climax. But you're correct; there are a few angles that the PCs might take in response to Maeve's duplicity!
