Quick headcount, that naval battle in the North Sea easily had around 250-300 ships on both sides that engaged, probably more. Around 150 from both sides were sunk, not including aircraft. In terms of raw numbers, this would probably rank within the top 3 largest naval battles in human history by volume of ships and sailors, since even ships as small as destroyers had over 100 crew members minimum.

Even ancient naval battles, such as Cape Ecnomus and Red Cliffs, are still remembered today for their insane sizes despite the fact their numbers could be totally made up due to sources being potentially biased or having very little go on. But then you can look at more modern battles, like Leyte Gulf, which also had insane numbers but is considerably more accurate due to more modern record keeping and bureaucracy. This battle would be on par with the numbers of Leyte Gulf.
Could picture it being like the space battle over coruscant. So many ships being so pack together doing broadsides and a heck ton of bombers and fighters. I wouldn't be suprised if some of the ship even decided to ram eachother.

This is definitely a peak hoi4 game, this vid felt like a destined axis loss in the beginning, then the Sealion truth nuke obliterating Braun, the Soviets somehow getting pushed, and the giant fleet battle at the end forcing the Allies to crumble near-instantly.

0:38 Unironically, this moment right here probably saved the game. They didn't know it at the time, but if they had stayed on MEFO and Economy of Conquest, they'd have been completely fucked by the time the war actually started.
The subs won the war because the supplies to other allies fucked by their constant raiding. Not being able to project supremacy is a crippling thing but not being able to send shit to the Soviets or others is a death sentence. Hell even trading becomes nigh-impossible given enough subs.
Troops need supplies or they suffer significant penalties both in combat and as part of attrition. Those supplies require convoy boats that are the prime diet of submarines. Manchuko raided the shit out of the convoys. With the loss of UK, it basically meant allied troops were walking around hungry and half naked unable to fight or give resources to prop up the USSR
He's talking about the Manchurian sub spam not the naval battle. Also since the Allied Fleets got wiped by Germany they can't go anywhere without getting raided by Manchurian subs.

The main navy can't kill subs and it takes too long to produce enough asw's and navel bombers to kill them because the subs will kill destroyers if their numbers aren't great enough. No supply kills you, but it was the fleet that prevented them from focusing on asw's that won the game too because they had to concentrate on keeping up with the german and italian navies. TLDR: No supply = gg

This is one of the most exciting games I've ever seen Bo & co do. Every single moment was tense and uncertain, yet almost every gamble and risk paid off successfully and satisfyingly.
