Augustus Domino the Newfoundland Landseer swimming and Rocky Too the Newfoundland trying to stop Brad from swimming as he doesn't believe he's capable.
We always had a Newfie when I was growing up. Imagine 6 kids and a Newfie at the lake. He did a lot of life saving during the day and we all slept on the way home. Just what my parents wanted, I’m sure. Wonderful dogs!

For people who are unfamiliar with the Newfoundland breed. This is very typical. Newfys are naturally water rescue dogs (some are trained for this) and love to save their family from the dangerous water. My Newfy use to rescue all of my water toys from the bath. It was adorable. These babies are so lucky to live in a home with a pool... what a treat. Thank you for sharing your Newf family with us.
I have two myself, mine are a mix of Newf and Saint. They are the kindest sweetest huggable animals ever! I would have 10 if my house and bank account could handle it :) Yours are absolutely beautiful. There is nothing like seeing your dog do what is natural to them. Thanks for sharing :)

I just love Landseers! I nursed an orphan who is now almost 4 months old she looks a little like you only smaller lol....Landseers are just awesome dogs! Going to subscribe to your page so I can see more as you add more. Our little Beacon, the Landseer is visually impaired, but it doesn't stop her she is very smart and training now to be a service dog, not an easy task when you can only see shadows but I think you Landseers are so smart you over come any odds! 4 PAWS UP Kona

Beautiful creatures sadly our black with a white patch on its chest newfie passed away around 3 years ago at the age of 2! our family girl missing her we are happy to know she is in heaven
You are so Blessed to have a dog like Newfoundland. He didn't waste anytime to come to your rescue. My neighbor's dog was a very annoying one and everyone hated him... tried to pet him once on his head and he scratched me with his teeth and left me with a scar on my palm. The next day my German Shepard dog Rover had this very huge massive dog fight with him. Bless his soul. Loved him to pieces :)
was quite bad back then. I actually live in vienna, austria. just south of germany. with bad traffic, you take here about 8-10 hours to cross the whole COUNTRY. but its quite mountainous. if it were flat, probably half the time. its snows in the whole country every year. we are actually going to go skiing in 2 weeks, even though the typical ski season (november- march) is over. but its quite possible to be skiing here for around 5-6 months. hope your dogs like it in the snow! ours loved it!
@SwiftRyder2 Thanks for the comment,I won't lie to you, they do drool.I'm not sure where you are in the States, but here in Sydney it gets fairly hot in summer, however in winter they don't drool much at all, in any case they are the most wonderful dogs, look at the drool as a bonus.

We got our dogs from Planhaven, we've had three from there and I can highly recommend Francis (Planhaven). Our first one cost $1800, and the last one (the Landseer) was $2200, that's for a show dog. Planhaven are moving to Queensland shortly due to Francis's health, she needs to move to a warmer climate. I believe that Newfcastle in Newcastle is a very good breeder as well.Although I've not had much to do with them we see them at the Royal Easter Show and the Specialtly Show,their dogs do well.
How I love your dogs.The Newfoundland dogs are so cute and intelligent all the time.The bigger one even did not want his master to jump into the pool. He must considered it is too dangerous for you to do so. Ha.......he has done his best to rescure you.

Newfie's don't need much exercise, we let ours swim in the pool during summer, we also take them for short walks 30 mins - 1 hour, they are happy to do what we do, if you want to just lay around and watch tv, they are happy with that.
I have a one year old Landseer. The first time I put Ichinojo in the water (Loch Tay) when he was around 4 months old there was no hesitation. He started swimming right away. The first time I put him in the ocean (Firth of Clyde) it was the same result.
We didn't get Rocky until he was 5 years old,he had never been in water until we got him home, he walked out the back straight off the edge and into the pool. He had the instinct to rescue from the word go. Sadly Rocky passed away in March this year, he was in the pool playing with his ball, and less than 3 minutes later we found him floating.We think he may have had a sudden heart attack or stroke, whatever the cause he went very fast and doing what he loved doing, playing in the pool.
ah fuck that hurts. feal sorry for your losses. one cannot understand the loss of a dog unless one had one. its like a loss of a sibling/child. its a member of the family always loyal, loving and there for you she was 8,5. she had a bad history with injuries, but when the cancer hit , it all went quick. I remember losing our first landseer: 5 months old, she chockd to death on a ball while my brother and me were playing with her. my bro was 8 I was 10. that really shocked us.

Rocky was 7 years old, I looked out the kitchen window and he was playing on the steps of the pool with his ball, I said to my partner, Rocky's in the pool again, we looked out 2 maybe 3 minutes later and he was just floating, we tried to revive himbut it was too late.I'm sorry that you lost your Landseer, we also lost a Newfie a few years ago to cancer (spindle cell sarcoma) he was only 3 1/2 years old.How old was your Landseer?

You are so lucky to have snow for such a long period of time, we only have it form about June to August, and have to travel hours to get to it, the rest of the year it is beach weather for us. Have a good ski trip mate.

Our weather has been affected by the El nina weather pattern where the Pacific Ocean is warmer than normal and so we get alot more rain than normal.Have a good weekend. btw, my name is Mark. cheers.

Thankyou, sadly we lost two of them a couple of years ago, the lab x boxer to cancer and the black Newfie to a heart attack, we still have the Landseer (black & white) and another two black girls. They are a joy to be around.
I've see videos on UA-cam of Newfoundlands jumping from helicopters too, I've never seen it in real life though. I think the vest is for added bouyancy so that the swimmer doesn't drag the dog under, the vest also gives the swimmer something to hang onto.
