Perhaps they were damp, or didn't get rotated into fresh dry books during the process. Getting them to dry as fast as possible helps. I have not tried them in the microwave press, but that is a thought. Thanks for watching, Em
You are an amazing presser/ Never seen someone as good as you. Lots of practice I suppose :) Can you tell me which paper you are using to press? I just tried pressing an assortment of dahlias and they are well, huge. I did not thin them out at all and wish I did after seeing one of your previous videos. I am learning a ton from you. Please keep making your videos. They are the best source of info I have come across yet. Absolutely amazing. Thank you.
Hi Keith, appreciate the kind words. Regarding dahlias, I have a really hard time getting them through the press without browning, so either thin out the centers or don't bother with them, but they look really nice when they do make it through. You really need to stay on top of rotating them (the paper sandwich with the flower/s in-between) to a fresh, dry book/magazine (absorbent pages) to have any hope of success in my experience. You can try microwaving them and see how that goes. I have been pressing flowers for over fifty years - oops dating myself here:-) Started as a young teenager. Thanks for watching, Em
Hi Cheeky, I have not researched the subject. Personally, I think lots of things in life have some toxicity to them, even in food - therefore a matter of degree and an individuals risk or health decision. Future is/was used and applied in quantity to floors, so I don't worry about short interval use of that product for myself. You can wear a respirator if you are concerned - personally I don't. But then again when I use it, I am only doing small and short term projects and can open a window if need be. I also know that many polymer clay artists use to use Future and didn't really see any comments of concern. Search UA-cam for something like 'using future floor polish on polymer clay' ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=using+future+floor+polish+on+polymer+clay Thank you for watching, Em
Hi, I prefer any absorbent paper - I have even used just copy paper in a pinch. Back in the day I used news paper and phone books. The brownish paper you see in many of my videos I bought years ago and keep reusing it as long as it has not gotten all funked out. Test what you have access to, just stay away from things like wax paper, etc. Thanks for watching:-)
Hi, I use a cement block on top for weight ua-cam.com/video/sL_aHxLvobg/v-deo.html . It takes about one to two weeks depending upon the thickness and moisture content of the botanical. I rotate the flower/leaf sandwich into fresh/dry books/magazines at least twice during the process. What kind of paper are you using to press? :)
Baking paper works great! Or old telephone books that Em uses a lot

Hi! How long do you press for? How much weight do you put on them?
