Thanks Em, the length turned out good. Appreciate you keeping it below 30 minutes! Beautiful flowers and pressing. Thanks for giving the names. I learned a lot. 💕
Appreciate the feedback:-) Em
Don't worry about the length of the video! Keep going, it's interesting! And thank you for showing us the seed packets and the labels of your pressings.. so often in the other films my English ear just cannot catch what you're saying because the American pronunciation is so different 🙂 my mother spent the 70's growing and pressing thousands upon thousands of flowers every year for a friend who made them into all sorts of crafts. My piano and ballet lessons were paid for from those flowers and I was able to earn what felt like a fortune in pocket money in the holidays picking and pressing too. So nice to see people still doing it 😊
Truly appreciate the lovely comment and hearing about your mother:-)
Hi ma'am, I saw two of your videos but didn't see you keeping weights on your flowers except cardboard. Do you put any sort of weights like a heavy book or a wood base like in pressed flowers kit?
Hi, yes when I am pressing them, I put two cement blocks on top of the pile of flowers I am drying. I pile the cardboard spacers with the books/flower sandwiches layered to about a foot high or more high - weight on top of that.
I press a lot so that works for me. If pressing just a page or two then several heavy books on top for weight would work. Just be sure the flowers are not touching cardboard that has a texture, because that will transfer to the flowers and is why I use the smooth chipboard too. Thank you for watching. Em
Hi Em, I enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing 🙂. I want to know how do you prevent rot ? I tried to press Aster, changing the paper a couple of day at the beginning but they were turning brown after around 2 weeks. Do spray alcohol will help ? Thank you Em!
Hi, I have pressed aster in the past and it can make it through sometimes. Some botanicals are to wet to press the traditional way. When I put flowers between the paper that is where they live until used. It is the books I move them to during the process. Here is a playlist that contains pretty much everything I know about pressing flowers ua-cam.com/play/PLxKiESd8bksPv8mxOA0zcCHIyXBBQWv4Y.html and look at this one ua-cam.com/video/sL_aHxLvobg/v-deo.html

Wow great! Thank you for your kind sharing!
Have you ever pressed a spagneticola?
What do you do with all these beautiful flowers?
Hi Nancy, before covid I use to make things (jewelry, cards, bookmarks, wall hangings, journals, etc.) for craft fairs and juried art shows. I also sold my handmade goods on my main web site.
Now days my main site is geared toward men and wet shaving. I have an Etsy store for my own handmade items where I also sell pressed flowers and things I make as time allows. I also make things as gifts. Thanks for watching, Em
I tried my hands at press flower art, but mine all turned brown!!! What do i do to retain the color?
Hi Mimi, appreciate the question. Since I get asked this a lot, I made a video on the subject prompted by your question. Hopefully this is what you were referring to. If not, let me know more about what happened in your situation.
Here is the video I put together and hope it helps ua-cam.com/video/x1HesFxx0nE/v-deo.html

hi madam, the best time to press flowers is one week or 10 days and what type of paper do you use ???... thank you :)🙏
Hi, I use any smooth absorbent paper. Experiment to see what works for you. How long they take to dry varies on the botanical and how often the paper sandwich with flowers/leaves inbetween are rotated into dry absorbent magazines, books or other pressing layers (for example cardboard and blotting paper). Thank you for watching, Em
@@emsplace Thank you very much madam for the enlightenment :)🍵👍
What kind of paper that you use?
Hi, you can use any smooth absorbent paper. While I even use copy paper, I prefer somehting just a little heavier in weight. Em
