Sailing the Drake Passage

  • Our journey south from Ushuaia was the classic - and relatively rare - "Drake Lake." Our return trip, as you see here, wasn't quite so calm. Non-drowsy seasickness pills kept our stomachs on an even keel... but they couldn't do anything for our legs. It was kind of fun to watch people trying to walk from one point to another in a straight line.
    I shot this from our "indoor balcony." I braced my little Olympus Stylus Tough Tracker on the windowsill. The pitching and rolling you see is the ship, not my unsteady grip.
    My apologies for the background noise. I forgot to shut off the television in our cabin.
    Finally, notice how the weather doesn't seem to bother the little birds, which are flying around in almost every frame.
