  • In this week’s video I’m shooting Pedersoli’s Charles Moore flintlock dueling pistol. This .45 caliber, flintlock pistol has an 11-inch barrel that is quite accurate, if you shoot it properly.

    Mike;
    Back in the mid 70s when I was about twelve, my folks gave me a .67 caliber CVA pistol kit for Christmas from Sears Robucks. Looking back, it was the best gift I ever received. I still have it today and looks very close to the British Sea Service pistol in your vid.

    Great tip on choking up on the grip. I have a homemade matchlock that I made with a similar grip to your Charles Moore pistol and choking up on the grip definitely steadies the gun. I never would have thought of that.

    I purchased that pistol in percussion several years back. Out of the box, the tang did not fit the breech. The inletting of the tang and barrel was off as well. After correcting the hooked breech problem with files and fixing the bedding problems with Steel Bed, the pistol is a tack driver.
    Considering the price, having those type of problems is unacceptable. The average shooter would not be able to make the repairs I did.

    Hello, I just received my first flintlock pistol from Dixie gunworks, I bought the traditions trapper. It’s a beauty for sure. Seems odd to me not much is talked about on flints, what type how to properly install them, now no flint was included with this gun. I’m kinda at a loss of what type to get and how to mount it the correct way, if you can help me out here I would appreciate it. Thanks for the great videos

    That's pretty good accuracy at 50 feet distance to be able to take out a honey dew melon in one shot with a flintlock single shot pistol. I used to do that kind of shooting with cap and ball revolvers that made 7 or 8 inch barrels but with a modern pistol that only has a 3 or 4 inch barrel like the average semi auto concealed carry piece that kind of distance would be very hard to do

    Yet another great video showcasing a firearm we are usually not familiar with, thank-you!
    If I may make one suggestion though, it would be helpful to me if you could display the piece for a longer period of time when you are introducing it. We get a few seconds and then it is gone from view or else it is being rapidly moved about. Perhaps ten or more seconds to take in the details while you are telling us about the piece? Thank-you again, I always go to your new videos when they show up and your older videos when I am researching new to me firearms.

    Hi Mike. Very good video. Like everyone you do. I like that gun, but on percussion. In fllintlock syistem I prefer a Kentucky pistol. I have a Kentucky from Ardesa (Traditions) and a Siber from Dikar (CVA). Both are made here, in Spain, and are percussion and in 45 caliber. But maybe I would buy a Charles Moore from Pedersoli, as it would make a good combination with my 54 "Hawken Rocky Mountain" rifle, also from Pedersoli. Greetings from Spain.
