Not sure about British, but Americans used to escort carriers by heavy cruisers... the idea was that they are fast enough to not slow carrier group down (in opposite to something like battleships) but at the same time give her enough firepower to fend off eventual surprise attacks (carrier was typical "long range" weapon and was not INTENDED to fight surface battles, but sometimes surprises happen) and have powerfull AA suite in case of "carrier vs. carrier" encounters... they seemed to have success with that. Alas, later in the war, when fast battleships became available, in dangerous waters they took over the carrier escort role, but at time was evident that CV (and not BB) was the primary offensive force in the sea war, so the BBs "had no better task" than that...
Supply Benghazi is bollocks, it is allready lvl.2 airfield which is quite enough for "behind the lines" security, and next level would be quite costly. FAR better to keep upgrading Tunis! Also, the supply path to Tunis is way shorter. Besides, IF any supplying to Tobruk/Benghazi, then it should come from the Alexandria...
In real life, i would agree, but here in this game, the computer AI playing has the ships repaired in "no time" thus any ships not sunk are in next encounter "as new". Also, damaged ships continue to fire their AA guns, only sunk ones cease to bolster taskgroup's air defense strenght...
Attacking with only TWO beaufighters, and then even STRAFING?? That's near-zero chance of sinking enemy, but quite real chance to get plane(s) shot down. Letting your flights diminish in strenght is bad habit, they then have low chance to reach anything :( Have you at least thoroughly studied the ways how to replenish your land bases planes strenght? Otherwise, they will only keep diminishing towards zero!
AGAIN, dividing your attack between two ships? Two damaged seems better than one sunk to you? Or keeep overly optimistic hopes to sink both??? You were lucky to sink at least one but that principle is wrong... unless ofcourse you gathered an extensive experience about how much attacking bombers (on average) needed to sink a destroyer?
Thank you Taff, that was a nice episode, great progress, I hope you get Tobruk soon and capture Vichy Marseille quickly

Was the King George V battleship available? You'd been able to purchase the Prince of Wales...
I liked the split attack, it ensures damage to multiple ships. Possibly sending one or both out of action or even sunk.

Good video taff
Jolly good show what
You need some more subs, mate. Stick some subs in the choke points.
I wholeheartedly agree. 😊❤😊
I would create a 10 sub Wolfpack.
@@jeffgiguere8599 That might be overkill 😂😂😂
