When younger, I was a pretty skilled woodworker. My cousin and close friend worked with glass. We could never master each others skill, but cooperation produced some fine results.
One of the best being a large coat of arms in glass for a local country house. It took my cousin and 3 other glassmiths a full day to make it. I contributed the large edged and dished mahogany backboard and, given the generous cheque I received, had to wonder what on earth the final bill had amounted to.
One thing we had in common was perpetual annoyance at the comment from others I'm sure most craftsmen still get on a regular basis...
"Oh - you're so LUCKY to be able to..."
As though years of learning and practice just didn't enter into the equation. Presumably the reason they can't do the same being down to pure misfortune.
For years after my cousin died, and my own hands had become too arthritic for other than the lightest of woodwork, I used to spend hours at the glassworks where he had worked - they had a small cafe where the public could watch the most exquisite work being performed. Even children were fascinated. During natural breaks, the workers would often melt waste pieces into smooth pebbles, and when they had cooled, pop through the adjoining door and offer them to the children.
I gave them a couple of small pokerwork signboards. They hung one beside the shopfloor viewing window. It read "Can you see why our products aren't cheap?" The other hung over the cafe counter, and read "We don't serve fast food. We serve good food as fast as we can."
For decades we had a pair of beautiful prancing deer - a wedding gift from my cousin. When one was broken years after he passed my wife and I were so upset - until the glassworks made us an identical replacement. And declined payment.
They closed just a few years ago, a victim of cheap internet Chinese knockoffs. Seems today's generation know a lot about price and little about value.
A couple of the old glassmiths are still around, retired but producing small stuff just for the love of it, and I bought a beautiful paperweight (made from recycled glass) from one at a craft fair a couple of years ago. I strongly suspect the price was less than it had cost to make.

      You're right of course.
But that still leaves a lot of people blaming their lack of artistic or even motor skills on bad luck when it's simply a lack of application and persistence. While it's possible to learn most skills given enough time and determination, there's no question natural aptitude is not only a huge help, it's often the prime motivator.
But everything needs to be instant for some people. Can't draw, can't paint - tried them once and I couldn't, they complain. Really?
That I can't play the piano may be misfortune - but I suspect it's most likely because I never made a serious effort to learn. But the fact I'm adequate (but not great) at watercolours might also be down to many years of practice, starting with an art teacher who told me I couldn't paint for nuts.
"Excuse me constable, how do I get to the Royal Albert Hall?"
"Well, sir, I suggest you practice!."
      - Older than me, I know, but I couldn't resist... 😊

I used to work at a Tuesday Morning and we'd get in so much gorgeous glass decor. This makes me think back to all of the customers who complained about the prices (heavily discounted from retail, mind you. Some of the pieces you could find online for much higher and we had people who'd buy them from us and make a profit.). Watching this, I'm reminded of why those original retail prices were so high. The amount of craftsmanship that goes into each piece is amazing.
Granted, I'd never pay for a glass piece, not because it's too expensive, but I'm a bit accident-prone and so many glass gifts over the years met the floor.
I have a beautiful glass rose goblet I got for this past Christmas and I'm scared to death of doing anything around it.

Like your trust for one another, the way you great each other when you get home from work, the way you spend your time together, the quality of the conversations you have with one another. The day of your marriage is no more special than any day you spend with your spouse afterward. That glass can and will one day break but that in no way symbolizes your marriage. My Dad was in the Air Force, and at we, at one point we got posted to Aviano AFB, for about four years, I figured out the train system, and found out we were only 150 miles from Venice. So, I'd ride out to Venice to the Grand Canal, and get on the public water Ferry, and go off shopping. St. Mark's square was a good place to go eat, and watch and feed the pigeons, and have lunch, and then I found out about the Dodge's Palace, and how the imprisoned people who were trying to steal secrets of glass making, and I found the place they were talking about. It was amazing to be let in the place were they did, what you see here. It reminds me of taffy, watching them work the glass, I found out it is quite an honor to be allowed in the back were you see a pile of sand to be transformed into the works of art you see here. Knowing at one time in history you be killed just watching what they are doing now. This was a big secret at one time Death could be had, for seeing what you are watching now. They treated this as state secret!

Touching it is more like touching molten lava then touching a fire. I should know I done glass blowing before and the person teaching it told us and showed us the time he touched molten glass. By show I mean the patch of skin he was missing cause the skin literally fused to the glass and his body reacted by throwing the glass away and ripping off said chunk, he touched it for a few seconds.. for the clip I guess he washed his hands or put his hands near the glass and from angle it looks hes touch it
