The ACH-47’s carried 50’s in the side doors, however it was found that the vibrations of the guns caused severe cracking in the airframe. All that being said, ED give us the 50’s 😂 Enjoyed the video man ✌️

@@Sandboxcode not that I know of. The tracks seem to fail on high pop servers so in many cases once the player count is over 20 or so, the track won’t work. If it is under 20 or so you can view the replay like you normally would.
@@Sandboxcode yeah I should double check just to be sure I haven’t tried high pop servers in a couple months now but I don’t think ED cares to fix this bug in track replay recordings at the moment.

Thanks man! Funny you say that we have a ARMA 3 server up 24/7 running an Antistasi mission. I usually play that when I'm not flying in DCS lol I love setting up the ambushes in WWX trying to find the best spot for maximum impact.

@@risingsun9595 The USMC doesn’t use the CH-47 but I think you’re thinking of the CH-46. That helicopter I would love in DCS. On paper it is almost identical to the Hip in terms speed payload etc. And yeah they use the 50s in those. I’d love a CH-53 as well! Those things can carry 3 50s!
I wonder if they intentionally go uber on the damage model on newly released modules (the Apache was similarly indestructible and maybe still is) as a kind of hidden incentive to buy in early. Buy in early Early Access and get a super plane the enemy can't shoot down! Anyway, looks good otherwise. I got many Chinook flights as an Air Force brat up here in Canada, Dad was a flight engineer on them.
Oh very nice! At least taking it online today I was flying with in a 3 ship and 2 of them were shot down due to enemy fire from another player's aircraft so at least I know it isn't fully indestructible lol I think this will be a great helicopter in DCS once it is out of EA (who knows how many years that will be).

I've not seen 50s mounted in the sides, other than on the 4 specialised ones in Vietnam, however in the UK ours usually have M134s on the sides and then an M60 on the ramp.
Yeah I did a bit of looking around and pretty much found the same info, there were some Chinooks that had 50s in the doors in the early 90s also but they were removed because they fatigued the airframe too much and the cone of fire was small. Makes me really want a CH-53 in DCS....those guys easily and regularly rock 3 50 cal mounts lol that would be incredible online in DCS!

I always thought it was sad that the UK didn't buy any, I've actually flown in one before when we were doing some stuff with the USMC.....they seemed to piss alot of hydraulic fluid all over the place but the yanks said that that's just the way they are and they'd be more concerned if they didn't

They are nicknamed the shitter and there is an instagram handle I believe rippinshitters or something to that effect. They post cool videos from CH53 crews and on video was wild, they showed all the ways the 53 would piss out hydraulic fluid lol, huge amounts too! It would be such a wonderful modern transport helicopter in DCS.

Especially that huge canted tail that supports the massive tail rotor. Blows my mind how much force that thing can produce and still be mounted in that off angle.
I don't think there are any ROE commands at the current moment which sucks honestly cause I love using door gunners and iirc they couldn't have a side gunner .50 but on the ramp there should be able to hold one.
@@l.a.xgunner ah yeah it’ll be good when they get the ROE stuff in. A 50 on the ramp would be badass. I can already picture baiting others to get on your 6 in pvp then switching the ROE to free fire and someone taking a face full of 50 cal.

I'll buy this beast when they fix the FM. I'm hoping that sooner rather than later. Looks and sounds great but that FM is just insanely immersion breaking for me :(
What is immersion breaking for you with the flight model? I fly it quite regularly and it seems to fly how I would expect without the extra stabilization you would get with a fully fleshed out DAFCS.
@@ryu1940 The fact that it can quite easily hang in the air doing front and back flips is quite telling that the FM is wildly off, and about as cartoonish as it can get. Completely unacceptable for a flight model in DCS
@@Solo6R i’ll have to see if i could do a flip, but have you seen the British Chinook airshow demos? they do some crazy maneuvers that you wouldn’t think was possible without damaging the aircraft including wild climbs almost going into a flip and spinning down towards the deck. it’s really neat
@@ryu1940 I have seen those air shows and I've never once seen them do a front flip or back flip. It's just not possible with the Chinook. The FM is a cartoonish flight model. There is no denying this. It's broken.

160th is known for mounting M2’s in the door. But the field of fire is extremely limited.

Seems like the modern 7.62 door gun option for the CH-47 is the M240, but the USMC CH-47s do use M2HBs.
