The sourness from the tamarind ,does slow down the cooking/boiling process. The tamarind have to go in almost in the end. Plus I think you let the dhal & and meat bunjal too long,so the oil kinda fried the dhal making it get too hard. But it's all a learning proces, never the less great video once again uncle. Am always looking out for your videos .😎
I cooked it the same way 4 months ago in Florida and the dhal boiled The shop owner thy I purchase the dhal from told me he got a lot of the same complain. The dhal not boiling.

Danny, the trick is to soak the dhal in hot water over night or boil it in cooker, just turn off the heat and leave it over night
