Technical Boy is one of the “new gods” who have risen to power. He’s the personification of all things technological, like the internet. So whenever you stare at your phone instead of interacting with your family, you're giving him power. Technical Boy is being challenged by Mr. Wednesday, leader of the “old gods.” And it’s safe to say he’s not happy about that. Desperate to prove himself, and hungry for respect and power, Technical Boy struggles to keep his impulsiveness and petulance in check -- like a comments section brought to life. This makes him dangerously unpredictable.
American Gods premieres April 30 on Starz.

Mmm, yeah, I think you're right. I think people imagine a Zuckerberg or Elon Musk type when they think of people who epitomize the digital age now. I suppose Technical Boy's appearance is more appropriate in 2017 than the fat slob stereotype.

That's the ugly beauty about the internet, we can be whoever we want to be, change our appearance, voice, mannerisms etc at will from day to day, hour by hour, minute to minute or as fast as it takes to make a new "catfish". Tech Boy can look like anything to appease his internet trolls.

I was going to agree with you initially but then I realized that you're right again... haha. I was kind of disappointed to not see him as a stuttering slob, but I get it now. Totally makes more sense for the character to evolve as times have changed.

I can see the need to update him, but I kind of liked the pudgy Matrix wannabe version from the book, who wasn't entirely stable and used words he didn't quite understand as a reflection of late 90's/ early 00's tech
