  • Come and see the amazing monasteries at Meteora Greece which seem to float in the sky, above the clouds. Built in the 14th century to escape Greek invaders, the monks of Meteora built what is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
    Join us as we take a look at when the monasteries were built, how they were built, and what they're used for today. Let us know if you have any questions about our content or would like to see us cover other trailblazers throughout history. Thanks for watching!

      @@trailblazedHQ We are full time travelers from the US, and after 4 years of being nomads, Meteora (BTW, check your spelling in the title), is probably the most spectacular place we have been.

    Builders of an advanced society that knew and used powers far and above our level of knowledge. Not at all old school appearance,however. Obviously, a recent idea.

    This place is where the word meteorologist got its name from. Little known fact

    • @MsClepsydra
      @MsClepsydra Рік тому +9

      Not exactly. Both Meteora and meteorology derive from the word "μετέωρος" which means "suspended high in the air". Meteorology is literally the study of thing high in the air. It doesn't come from the place Meteora, but shares the same etymological root.

      @margar2321 when the ES Building was put up, not all lives were considered equally valuable. Get it? l'm imagining you may still feel the same. I've worked construction, stop whining

      Turkish invasion🤨…The Ottoman Empire, a barbaric tribe form the East, raped, pillaged and tried desperately to destroy a culture and language. Imagine how much farther ahead Greece could be without that destructive era. 🤨

  • @Buttercup697
    @Buttercup697 6 місяців тому +1

    It was the Greeks, who gave the world democracy, theatre, mathematics, poetry, the greatest architecture in the western world and then raped and pillaged under brutal oppressive Ottoman rule for over 400 years 🤨 … I often wonder how much father ahead Greece could be had they not had their culture, language nearly destroyed by a barbaric tribe from the East.

      Wrong ! They learned everything from the black Ethiopians and Egyptians who even helped to build Greek civilization ; even the Greeks say that Ethiopia first civilized and ruled the world . Even monasteries on rocky mountain tops are from Ethiopian tradition...
