  • There are in fact three Tchaikovsky "Romeo and Juliets", the last one was revised in 1880.
    The two previous ones are from 1869 and 1870. Both of the early versions can be heard on UA-cam.

    The classic under Doráti, who is probably among the most-sold conductors ever due to his extensive portfolio of key repertoire in the late 1950s/1960s, recorded in stereo hi-fi, especially for the US companies. Producers could seemingly rely on him to reliably produce middle-of-the-road marketable results.
    I reduced the tape hiss and the strong external traffic rumble and "de-aged" the sound.
