  • This is a review of the Apex Trigger Kit for the Springfield Hellcat. This is a nice upgrade over the stock trigger. It allows for more precise shots from longer distances. Not a necessity but a very nice upgrade from the stock trigger which is very similar to a Glock trigger.

    Carried a 365 for a minute but absolutely hated the grip angle. Had several surgeries on my wrist and the 365 was just really uncomfortable. Finally picked up a Hellcat and I love love love the feel of it in my hand.

    I have just purchased a Hellcat and thinking about installing an Apex trigger. There are some good points made here on the pros and cons of a trigger swap. For me the upgrade from plastic to aluminum is a big part of it. I bought my gun from a store and it was almost six hundred bucks. For that price I think Springfield should use metal for the trigger.

      You get the OSP or the base Hellcat

      Sig is one of the only companies to my knowledge using a metal trigger in such a small gun. Honestly for it’s intended purpose the trigger in stock form is more then adequate. If I want a nice trigger I’ll pick up my Staccato XL not a micro 9 edc only pocket rocket.

    The Hellcat trigger problem is a sham created by "Apex" The stock Springfield trigger is just fine.

    I just installed one and I’m not impressed. Super squishy. The reset is nice but it’s still squishy. I like the stock trigger better. And if I push sideways at all with this Apex trigger, the safety will not depress. That seems as if in a higher stress situation when you need it most if you grabbed it a little off, you might not be able to defend yourself.

    I bought a Apex flat black aluminum trigger replacement for my M&P 2.0 10mm. I bought the trigger kit for the M&P 2.0 9mm, 40 S&W and 45 ACP full size pistol model but the 10mm has a bigger frame so my gunsmith had to do his magic to make it fit. Still a duty gun so it is still between 5 and 6 pounds but at least not a plastic trigger anymore. I like that.

      I will be interesting to see if they will fit their new metal framed M&Ps. Thanks for the info and watching.

    Is there a reason why you didn’t go with the Hellcat Pro? I see the extended clip, would that be similar in height to the Pro?

      This is an older video which was re-uploaded due my original channel being deleted by UA-cam. At the filming of this video the Hellcat Pro had not been released. I am sure it will be as reliable as the standard Hellcat. I will note that the extended magazine in this video holds 13 rounds. I do find that when we get to pistols the size of the Hellcat Pro like the Sig P365 X Macro, the grip module tends to make the pistol a little more difficult to conceal. So when I get to grips that long, I tend to move back to a Glock 19 which is easier to shoot with less expensive and higher capacity mags to carry as a back up.

    Would you still recommend if it’s someone’s primary CCW?

      My main goal in defending myself is to hit the intended target and not someone else. I believe better triggers help us do that. Of course, this is no substitute for training. It is a decision we all have to make on our own. Personally, I have no problem carrying a CCW with a modified trigger.

    It is barely an upgrade. The red trigger was all that was really gained. Still has awful creep. Nothing is shorter or more tactile. Just buy the shoe. Everything else does not show much improvement.

    After installing, there's a lot of creep / squish after the wall. Is that normal on a Hellcat? Here's a video of what I mean:

    Why would you alter your trigger on a carry gun, I hear that’s the surest way to get screwed if you have to go to court after a self defense incident?

    • @firearmpatriotreviews
      @firearmpatriotreviews  Рік тому +5

      To make a better shot and not hit an innocent bystander. There is only one reported criminal case that I am aware of that dealt with a modified trigger which was on a police officer's firearm which was against the department policy. In that particular case the jury found the officer not guilty becauae he acted in self-defense. I am welling to take the risk. If you are not I understand. I think you would have a much higher probability of being prosecuted in an accidental shooting with a modified trigger than in a self-defense situation.

    It’s so funny to me, because the mossberg MC2c stainless slide and a much better trigger. . The P3 65 and the hellcat both have not top-tier carbon steel slides just goes to show you that.”budget “ these days are not so far apart.. yeah just like as if you found out your girlfriends ex was a black. It doesn’t change anything.
