Just found you and I’m blown away! Thank you. I’m 63, fairly good guitar player, no formal training, just have the gift of playing by ear. I’m trying to learn piano now in retirement, bought a nice 88 key electric piano but have been struggling. This has really turned on a switch for me. I’m subscribed.
steve cmon man... you Know your videos are always GREAT intelligent..informative, and very succinct .... INSPITE of SOME Peoples Impatience.......YOU are one of the reasons...I stayed with it...... you are what I would call, a Caring Professional.........🙂Peace Out
This is the best advice I've heard yet. Thank you, Steve. My mind was really loaded with theory. I love the way to simplify and the new approach to playing pop music. My voice is not that great, so maybe I can improve, with this new approach. Thank you for sharing with us. Richard B.
Am new to piano. From here i just learned augmented and diminished chord and suspended chords, c major and c minor chords. I hope to play music on my newly acquired keyboard someday. Thanks for tutoring
I’m 77 and try play piano since 4 years. If I had seen your realistic, fantastic, brilliant comment before I would have save a lot of bad times trying to reading note faster and faster to be good. Please, please try to find a way to be ear by all adults who started to play piano for feeling that every sound brings to them. I am at a point of starting to feel the real music’s feeling….. tks, merci, mille mercis monsieur…./Canada
Good advice, Steve I could see you doing a video about simple sequences like ii-V-I, 1-6-4-5 and the properties/uses of the main chords of popular music - it would build on what you are talking about here in terms of training the ear to hear these in songs.

I'd love that if he did. Good foundations of functional harmony.
Though I knew this, I thought you did an excellent job explaining it! Thanks for sharing Steve!
