MX4SIO - God of War 2 Initial Gameplay Testing (2022)

- As a follow up to my previous MX4SIO overview video, today we will test a more graphic intensive game God of War 2 instead of Marvel vs Capcom 2. In short, the game works well, the audio and gameplay does not lag, and the initial in-game movie works great.

Comparing it with loading backups from the usb port. Is it better or both makes no difference?

Please check MotorStorm Arctic Edge playing from the Mx4sio as I found the initial video cut scenes have stuttering issue while playing from usb drive. I want to see how it plays from Mx4sio mod memory card.
compare this to using the internet port which is better?

I have an android phone but not sure how to easily do the comparison between og hardware and the emulator though. Good news is tons of AethSx2 emulator videos online already for ppl to watch.

That would be cool if this functionality for mx4sio were added to Unirom for Playstation 1.
I heard in the PS2phat the PS1 hardware has access to the memory card slot so it might be possible in the future to get MX4SIO to play PS1 games without POPs emulation

I tested some.
Work: Half-Life and mod Blue Shift, Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance with skateboarding, MGS3: Subsistence, MGS3: Disc 2 with MG and MG2, Crash Tag Team Racing, Okami, Rayman 2 Revolution, Rayman 3, Taz Wanted, Metal Slug Anthology (even MS6 loads without complaining), Asterix and Obelix XXL, GTA: San Andreas.
Doesn't work: Crash Twinsanity, Crash the Wrath of Cortex.
These tests were made by me, there is slight chance it'll be different for you if our adapters were built differently. Also more tests in progress. :D
Your list I assume is the same for usb you think in terms of game compatibility? Like a gamw that works on usb I should expect to work on mx4sio?
@@TheOriginalVersatile I don't think so, all Crash games work from USB, and for some reason two don't from MX4SIO, I tried on the newest OPL and same plus no possibility to save. Hopefully new OPL will greatly improve compatibility. :) I have to do more tests when I have time, just lack of official list of compatibility makes it difficult.
So multiple games are accessible through OPL menu? It doesn’t boot directly from MC after loading PS2 browser?

FYI doing some more tests on my end, hoping to get an online spreadsheet soon for everybody to contribute. Also found out if a game is fragmented it may not boot properly
Need For Speed Underground 2 Would be a awesome test as it needs really fast data speed transfers to stream the track data in. Cheers

im playing underground 2 from usb without any issues, so from MX4SIO it must be much better... Just loading screens are longer
I have seen a couple videos comparing the load times of SD card vs ethernet and SD card being a fair bit slower - as you have used both which do you recommend? Technical complexity aside as they both have their own caveats. Does the SD card method load any faster than the DVD drive?
Not faster than dvd drive, but better than usb for sure. In the end, do what is most convenient for you.

Does that version of OPL along with that MX4SIO work with PS1 games through POPS?
No, MX4SIO is only for PS2 games, so if you want to do P1 games with OPL DB, then that is a separate OPL you got to run basically.

Saving after MX4SIO is on freezes console
Memory card can't be detected when playing from MX4SIO
Trying to save when MX4SIO is on not only freezes console but wipes out entire OPL configuration except internet settings
Only manual configuration for MX4SIO with integrated in wLE text editor works.

Actually there are GOW2 ripped isos out there with downscaled FMVs for OPL USB usage that don't stutter at all.
Yes, most ripped ISOs are scattered in Indonesia (like black,god of war 1&2,god hand, and many more )

I can't test every game and compatibility. If it stutters in usb, it should not stutter with mx4sio.
Try some dual layer & fmv heavy games like Xenosaga EP1, stuntman, Champions of norrath, raidou kuzunoha games
Stuntman doesn't play with SMB. I doubt it can be playable on MX4SIO
@@jamesytez6639 I have beaten it on on USB 😭 The trick is you don't skip any fmv or it freezes. Let the stuttering fmv play even the opening too. Main menu is slow too due to fmv playing in the background. Otherwise rest of the game is fine.

Xenosaga 1 doesn't boot correctly. 2nd and 3rd works fine, at least disc 1.
Can you make a tutorial how to change OPL Splash Screen? I really want to change the appearance of the OPL splash screen on my PS2 Slim.
I think its part of the elf file and I have no idea how to customize that...maybe it is a question for the psx-place.com forums and one of the devs can answer.
Can you test Burnout 3? With USB, it always has issues with menu background video and fmv.

If it supports xbox controllers plug in the controller. Or try x360ce or xpadder

Hey, I have a big problem.
When I created Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix from ISO to my USB using USBtil and opened OPL Manager, the game shows the wrong size of the game (0 Bytes) but doesn’t show the correct size of the game (4.4GB). Is there a way to fix this issue?
But does it still work and opl manager can rename the games and scrape the art?

Load times look great on this attn jayjay we need work done on MX4SIO for PS1 if the PS1 hardware dose in fact have memory card access it would be so cool to use real PS1 hardware instead of POPs emulation on PS2
Jay Jay is NOT a developer, he just lifts developments from the main source into his own branch. His "releases" are littered with bugs.
What is the format for your sd card? Fat32? How do u copy iso bigger than 4gb?
Fat32, and if larger files use usb util 2.2

Did a quick test, episode 1 boots into game but I get a black screen with mini map. Later opl may work better but no good since doesnt have save game support yet. Episode 2 and 3 disc 1 boot and play fine. Assume 2nd disc for each will work but didn't test

Are you running FMCB from the 1st or 2nd memory card? Can the MX4SIO also be the FMCB? Or are you saved by your game saves to your FMCB mc?
Fmcb from 1st memory card. Mx4sio cannot be used as fmcb. Game saves go onto the fmcb memory card as of today
please make video on ps4xplorer v 9.00 the copy paste function in not working like in earlier versions

@@ProjectPhoenixMedia i follow only you and modded warfare videos and big thanks for answering once i posted on the internet there were many user facing the same problem asking me for advice i told them ftp is the only second way but it is way to slow trying to ftp 100 gb ps4 games in user app folder i think to ftp to external hardrive... ps4xplorer is much faster than ftp takes only 25 to 30 minutes copy games intalled in internal hardrive it was working fine but the 9.00 version does not says nothing copied or paste you can try with small game and let us all know... to me gives error nothing copied or cut to paste on the external hdrive for backing up games bless you buddy if you make dedicated video on it i have tried downloading ps4xplorer from different sites but to vail help me and other out as soon as can..thanks thanks

OPL beta 1629 is the last version I know of that worked for me, I am not sure if it has been implemented yet in latest beta of 1.2.0 or not

Not that I know of as it uses a different build of OPL that has mx4sio support.
Hi sir i was installed two 4gb ps2 iso files using usbutill in my usb flash drive, but ul.cfg file was corrupted after i was sorting the game list. (Totally I have 4games in my usb) how to I fix it, pls give your suggestions.
I don't know why it got corrupted, can the ul.cfg be made manually

Update: Doing some more testing. Did a fresh wipe of the sd and Gran turismo 3 is working. Going to test #4 next. :)

Please help me- I cannot access the PS2 home website so I have come here. I have a modded PS2 slim 90k4 (Matrix but not v5). I burned uLaunchELF onto a disk and copied it to my SONY GENUINE 8MB memory card. I wanted to update OPL ('cause Prince of Persia: WW was giving me some minor graphical glitches) so I downloaded and copied the newer version onto the memory card. Some days later, I went into PS2's system config to reset the time as my battery has (probably, because it happened after I had my console modded). Anyway, I then went into the browser and noticed that I was running low on storage, so I deleted the previous OPL data and all the 'corrupt data' from the browser, something which I had definitely not done if I wasn't playing it after 4 years. Now I have "No DVD Player Set Up" error message when I pop in an original DVD; and no driver version is displayed, tho I remember it to be 3.11U. I'm truly lost. [ SCHP-90004 version]
Never heard of this error dvd ROM is flashed on board. Post issue at psx place forums
Yeah, I'll do that. A small correction- it's not that it doesn't show which version the dvd player is, rather the whole line is gone, as if it was only a cd player.
My bad- it's a Modbo v3 chip. I opened up my PS2 and found out. I said it wasn't because it can't load ELF files from :/mass. I'm still stuck. :(((

I believe testing gta san andreas with that mod would be a good idea.
Just tested gta san andreas, after doing a fresh wipe of sd card and install the game unfragmented, it works!

Defrag or uncheck fragmentation check
Don't defrag it. Just do a backup of everything on there then format it and put everything back.
