Hi, the fuse you showed connected to the mains cable with two blue spade connectors is an anti theft system installed by a previous owner I believe. I have something similar on my van. I believe you will find that the wire in question goes to the fuel pump control module located under the drivers seat. It should connect to the wire leading to the fuel pump from the fuel pump control module… Not to power to the module but from module to pump. I used a hidden switch on my van, but he obviously used a fuse. Why the fuse blew however is not known. But removing said fuse prevents the pump running and saves the van from being nicked. The fuel pump module is located in the seat base afixed to the right side wall. Good luck.
I notice the fuse has been wired with mains cable , so I wonder if someone in the past used the fuse as a makeshift anti theft device . I'm a retired auto sparky , and believe me , I've seen it all .😃
Was thinking the same, I think there may be a covert button/switch hidden somewhere. either way, if my van depended on it, I'd like to know where it goes.
Yer I’d 100% agree with you on that one ., I will trace it back and find out where it goes . But didn’t have time and I was just kind of done with it all by the end of the video
Love how your dad still gets stuck in helping ❤ great video as usual and will defo look at the Carly as like Eva, Syna likes not to throw a code that even Supposed , QUALIFIED mechanics can't solve. Thanks for the the part for Syna by the way Isaac was very grateful. Not bad for an "amateur" mechanic helping diagnose our problem thanks buddy ❤
Us amatures have to stick together other wise the armchair bell ends would get to us . Side note They wouldn’t but let’s just let them think they would as it pleases them and they can get back to kicking the cat
You definitely make some of the most thought-provoking and greatly appreciated informative videos! So sad for your extra cost, but like you said, it had to be done sooner or later. Great job! (I knew if anyone could, you could definitely figure it out!)
Why even waist the time trying to bring rubbish to the video if you want to be a keyboard warrior or you have issues with the video why not just message Neil honestly away and take your furry teeth for a walk people like you just make things so difficult
@@UrbanVanlife Before changing the pump, with all that entailed. A check with a probe/voltmeter attached to the pump feed at the furthest connection, ie the pump terminal, would confirm there’s 12v with the ignition on? It’s not hind sight or I know better, it’s just the correct way to diagnose a fault before undertaking a big job and replacing expensive parts. Lesson learned the hard way, but you got there. Happy motoring.
Neil, i know what you're saying about Halfords but always remember they price match. I've had batteries off them for nearly half price from what they were asking and there's always a Halfords about if it goes faulty and they swap it no problem. Just a tip for people that don't know, atb Dixie
Sorry to hear you needed recovering and had to spend on the pump unnecessarily- Looks like it may have been for some anti-theft system at some point at a guess. All the best, David 👍
Neil you have the patience of a saint. If I can’t fix my van in ten mins I want to set it on fire 😂 great find that fuse! Always an entertaining watch 👍🏻👍🏻
love to know how it broke your van , WHAT DID YOU CHANGE while doing a diagnostics , cos it wont do any thing unless you tell it to , so i find that very odd
@@UrbanVanlife it turned all electrics off and vehicle failed to start. I couldn’t even connect to it as the WiFi never showed up. So did nothing but plug it in. Carly are rogues! Do your homework on them before buying. It is impossible to return for a refund,it is a subscription device, and the only way out of subscription is to cancel your bank and get a new card. Many reviews on line warning against this company.
That special tool! I could have done with that when i did my diesel heater Mine wash welded on Looks like the fuse is either a bypass because of a broken cable or security mate 😊👍
That 'special tool' 'carly' is a con, before you even think of buying this device,do your homework, there are many reviews, comments online on this device and the company that sells it,read the small print carefully, hidden within it tells you that as soon as you click "buy" you lose all rights to a refund, even if it doesn't work on your vehicle though they have said it will. Many of the special functions that you pay extra subscription for simply don't work and although they actually break UK laws you still won't get refund or be able to cancel subscription, the only way out is to cancel your payment card, get a new card and even then they will try to take the subscription every 10 days.

On another UA-cam (SR) repairer they mentioned vehicles that some Hire/Rental vehicles can have remote trackers and remote immobilisers fitted so the company can control the whereabouts their vehicle at anytime. The UA-camr took out what wiring he could find, so maybe this is the final wire the locks the electrics replaced with a fuse to complete the circuit. Ps Years ago before electronics in car we fitted immobilisers. Hidden switch 2 pole. One pole switched fuel gauge off. Second pole the fuel pump. So if they broke in and bypassed the ignition switch it wouldnt start and shown no fuel.in tank. George
Great video 👍 sorry you got the run around, but I guess when you are going to drop the tank your figured well maybe I should get the part . Frustrating thanks for sharing,it will help others thank you well done 👍👍👍🏴🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦🦢
I'd say that was the fuse the previous owner has added for a make shift anti theft device or the wiring at the back of the factory fuse has failed so they have run another live feed. You could add a switch to thar wire for extra security 👍
Its old George. Its a common trick to use normal 3 core flexible domestic cable on Trackers and Immobilisers on commercial and expensive Cars. Also the earth wire is used in some cases to pass a signal to other equipment. ?? Glad its sorted cheers from old George.
My brother was dealing with exactly the same issue and it turned out the ecu was damaged and the immobiliser was constantly on, still isn't fixed as the automotive electrician needs to clone a new ecu, we did put a temporary fix in place having a switched live ( done through a relay) so he just hits the switch to turn on the pump then starts the engine, glad yours is now working but would it be possible to put a switch in one of the wires with the mystery fuse and hide it so you can add a bit more security with a kill switch.

Well we ain’t mechanics . Also what we paid out would have been half the cost of the fee in the garage . Also who knows if they would have found the fuse or not . People are far to quick on getting others to fix there problems some times and don’t want to have go them selves .
There a good chance that even thoug the old pump still works that’s there might well be an issue with it. The fact the fuse blew sagest that quit possibly it’s drawing more current than it should do

Hi Andy it wasn’t a factory installed fuse it was a fuse installed afterwards so that’s why it wouldn’t find it
