I don't want to seem mean but it might benefit you to learn how a fish finder works. That kind at least. What is directly beneath you is shown along the right hand side of the screen. The entire rest of the screen is basically a "history" of where you've been. As soon as you see a lobster appear in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, drop.

Sorry to ruin the nice train but maybe it only pulls up what was there when the cages were originally soaked? Like maybe there were many but the cages already were shut.

For money making deepline on the ocean runner. Got over 1 million a run, then trawl, got 2-4mill on full load trawling

I do miss that. It was such a jaunty tune. Too bad that asshat put copyright on it after he told Drea he could use it. ... at least that's what I remember as Drea explained it. Been here since about 400k subs. maybe less. Those where the days. Makes me want to rewatch some old vids to see if they still have that tune.

Crab is different lobster when you are on your fish sonar and say I SEE THEM you see crab on the sea floor not lobster

Some tips for you 1. set your fish sonar to 100 or 200 meters. 2 wait at least 2 -4 hours between pots 3. Crab and lobster seem to move a lot use your markers but they are almost never in the same place
as someone who lives in the north atlantic, I'm incredibly interested in this game. Fishing, be it for crabs, fish, lobster, frill etc. has always been a huge part of my countries culture, my grandfather was a captain of a large fishing trawler and i have fond memories of going out at sea with him. Sometimes they would accidentally land in a sea of frill instead of fish, coming back with tons of wasted frills that they couldn't legally sell because they were fishing for mackerel.
It's a harsh and time consuming lifestyle and I'm glad to see that this game manages to resemble that without making it boring.

Man i remeber my brother worked with my uncle at a young age .so he bought a good size ship at 22. So were long line fisherman meaning we dont have a paticular port or place we come out of we are all over. So chance is your not going to know us. And me and my brother both put a ton of money into this ship and crew. So we have to fill out a ton of paperwork and we were finally allowed to go alaska snow crab fishing. And no just becouse i was young and put money into it i still went through my green horn trials as everyone did. Well becouse of how much money we put into it as well as the fact that our uncle put a percentage into it under the conditions that we would spend two years in his fleet. And with the conditon that i would spend my first two years on his boat. So this was a long time coming but i had to be 18 to go crab fishing in alaska. Well this was our first year and weve been told a season could be three months or two days it was that speratic.so we fit the ship with some of the newest gear change out the rigging ect. Well we were nervous my brother only went a few times with my uncle and i never went. So anyways we weirdly enough attract a bunch of older veterans. Turns out it wasnt that weird we had some of the best gear and comfort on our ship. Well they dont know anything about me when they get abord. All my brother told them was there was a young man with his own room baiting. Well we end up out there for two months which was a lucky amount of time to get for a season. So right before we depart a camera crew shows up says there from a show called deadlist catch. They see the ship and ask who the captain is. So my brother walks up and says me and my kid brother. You can hear one of them go "oh we defintly want on this one". One of the camera man alsmost as soon as we get started goes overboard. We fish him out in less than 3 minutes. And we were already on edge having to walk around them and and set pots around them all while being interviewed almost everytime we could take a breath. They put more preasure on us then the season did. Well we end up with them for four more seasons and out of that orinial crew 4 of them stick around not just for that season but followed us to fish elsewhere throughout the seasons as well. They recorded conversations with my brother and uncle. Two of them ended up hoping ships alot between us and our uncle. Well when we finally all sat down to watch some episdoes they recorded some stuff that we forgot about. There was one time that we were coming from europe and its legal to drink at 18 over there. Well during docking im still very hung over. They recorded me vomiting well the camera man come aborad and first thing they ask me is "is this the harsh reality of a fisherman in your eyes". My brother in passing goes "no thats the harsh reality of flavored vodka. They left that in. They even gave a shout out to one of my uncles ships at the time the "american star". There was a fire abored sadly no one went home. They even got some people on there that we knew well. The first time they came aboard we didnt even know what deadlist catch was.

If your seeing all these fish, you might want to try net fishing or trawling again instead of crab or lobster
You're supposed to be using sonar first to find the fish not using it after to see how bad your guesses were LOL
You didn’t over fish the area, I had the same issue with deep lines. There’s some sort of bug /issue with soaking, it isn’t like FBS where you could pull them early. If you pull a pot 1 minute before it’s soaked for enough time even if it’s blue you won’t catch anything or very little. Let hem soak by time not by color and just pull the last ones late.
Drae (or anyone who's played them), which "Fishing" game would you suggest purchasing: North Atlantic or Berents Sea?
get Barents first with all the dlc. Its more polish and finished and still a great game. Then when you get to the end get North Atlantic. I got 102 hrs in Barents and about 36 in North Atlantic.

I hope you understand this Drae, even if there is lobster on the sonar, you fished the lobsters too much, vastly decreasing the population, you should have switched to doing a different kind of fishing such as netted or longline fishing, if I recall, even earlier in one of the loading screens it had said you shouldn’t fish one population too much. There won’t be much fish meaning not much profit. Remember, there is an actual population to the fishes in this game, you need to give them time to regrow back to standard/regular numbers

i feel like it might be better to go to the places with the lower prices looking for tips. The prices (if it follows logic) would be lower if a port was getting a lot of a certain type of fish. So i would assume they would have more tips. I also might just be overthinking it a lot lol
