Hey Stevie, thanks for the insights. I'm glad that the sales are going well for you and that you've been uploading lately on YT. You helped me a lot to dive into the world of stock music! Greetings
Thank you, your videos are very inspiring for me when from time to time I am discouraged by the few sales on Audiojungle and seeing the saturation of this market.
For anyone coming here wondering how much they take from the earnings, I'll explain. First they take off $0 for sound effects, $2 for Logs/Idents and $4 for music. So the initial fee depends on the category of your track. Then as an exclusive author they take off an additional 37.5% from the REMAINING amount. So if you have low prices you'll get larger fees overall. e.g $10 logo track take off $2 fee then you receive 37.5% of the remaining $8 so you get $5. e.g. $16 music track, take off $4 fee then you receive 37.5% of the remaining $12 so you get $7.5. e.g. $6 music track, take off $4 fee then you receive 37.5% of the remaining $2 so you get $1.25. e.g. $2 sound effect, take off $0 fee then you receive 37.5% of the remaining $2 so you get $1.25. If you’re non exclusive then as far as I know it’s the same fee but you use 50% instead of 37.5% in the calculation. If you’re planning on relatively low prices anyway then being non-exclusive probably doesn’t make that much difference.
Hey Stevie, great video and insights as always! If i may ask, I was wondering, what libraries did you use for the really great sounding and produced Chill Lofi Jazz Hip Hop?
Lovro Stipčević hey thanks! It’s been a long time since I wrote that but if I remember correctly it’s using a lot of royalty free samples from Splice, also piano library may have been The Grandeur

HI Stevie, Helpful videos thanks. I've been writing library tunes since Feb, I've done about 40 to date. Not submitted anything yet as I am trying to the Sync library path first. I make videos for a living and have been buying tunes from AJ for years so I know the industry from the buyers perspective. I just get the feeling it's really hard to make good money on AJ as a new seller. I mean making a proper income like 3-5k + a month. I don't mind putting the time in and giving it 5 years to build up my library but only if I can get there in the end. I see loads of great sounding tracks on there with minimal sales and the top guys are selling loads. This is what put me off and so I decided to try the sync licencing path after joining Sync Academy. I'm currently writing an album of EDM tracks to punt to some libraries and see what happens. What are thoughts on that?
Hey thanks for watching! Making substantial sales on Audiojungle has become increasingly difficult over the last few years, one of the main reasons is that there’s much more competition from other libraries, many of which offer subscription pricing which is much more attractive from a buyers perspective. I’ve actually branched out a bit as of late and have my tracks on multiple non exclusive sites now. What I’ve learned is that what sells on AJ won’t necessarily sell on other libraries, they’re all a bit different. Making 3-5K a month as a new seller on AJ would be nearly impossible I’d say. The only way to make decent cash is to branch out. Curious about Sync Academy, I’ve heard plenty about it but haven’t investigated thoroughly. Feel free to send me an email I’d love to chat more about it!
@@Steven_Beddall I see 😀 But it would be great if we could go live and compose something in real-time right on youtube via Zoom and OBS Studio. I think it would be interesting. But anyway thank you for the reply. I learn a lot from this video about search algorithms. Some things I didn't know and didn't expect!
Producing my songs means that I own them of course, but do I have to own my master recording officially before submitting any of my stuff to these platforms. Also, how do I own my music officially?
2:20 Funny I just made a comment on your other video about favouring recent submissions in their algorithm but you seem to have found that out anyway. That's one thing not so great about AJ, you can't just make a great track and expect it to keep selling well, you'll be bumped off for newer but not necessarily better tracks.
@@Steven_Beddall Yeah they sell now and again, especially ones that picked up sales early on. If you have a track that's been a year without sales it won't start getting many later on. I see you don't really use AJ anymore these days, what did you transition to?
@@loot6 Writing for documentaries mostly, don't have a whole lot of time these days to upload tracks! The songs I do write are generally bought out exclusively now so I can't share em anywhere else. Also working on developing courses. Don't worry I won't be charging any buyer fees 😅I appreciate your thoughts on that and I do understand that it could be misleading to anyone that doesn't look into it further. Something to think about for next video!
@@Steven_Beddall Sounds good, well done on getting into that. They give a much better deal than AJ it seems. Pond5 give an even worse deal at 37.5% (used to be 50%) to the author....but at least they are straightforward about how much it is. Anyway I'll make a comment on your other video explaining how the prices on AJ work exactly with several examples, that seems the simplest solution. Then you can probably delete all our ramblings about buyer fees, author fees, mother in law fees etc in the other comment thread.😅I
Bro what about the other libraries Shutterstock premiumbeat musicbed .. have you ever tried them? and i guess you can upload music there too to maximize earnings Thanks for the inspiration even though it became hot and tight with concurrence
@@Steven_Beddall Thank you a lot , can you please guide us to know how to upload tracks and get approved ? I have old ones but just buttons and sound effects 3 sales 1,21$ since 2017😝.. but music no , i have three on pond5 , i guess pond5 they accept a lot more than audio jungle, so you think also that i can upload the accepted files on pond5 to AJ? Knowing i switched non exclusive for both
Structure is more important than anything. Once I figured out what they wanted in the beginning stage I never got a rejection again. Listen to other tracks in your genre to see what kind of structure they have. Mostly 'subtle' and slow isn't what they want.
