@@Schemez-16vhiphopbeatz very few of us are descended from the Black Douglas himself, but our 'family' has surely spread around the world. There are Douglases in the USA, France, Germany and Sweden and the UK of course.
Thank you for this amazing video “Black “ Douglas in my DNR Great ancestor we will build all back up and make you proud. We were misled with their lies of history we apologise and will ensure all is corrected.
Good to see your video from the village of Douglas! I'm swedish, but I have scottish relations to the Douglasses who came to Sweden in the 17th century as mercenaries. Don't think I'm a descendent of James 'Black' Douglas, but who knows. I've been to Scotland many times but never visited Douglas. I took my youtube-handle from the famous beer label when I visited Scotland for the first time back in 2008.❤⭐⭐⭐
This is really well done. I can hear the love and passion and appreciation you have for your homeland throughout this video. . . Its really quite beautiful to see. If i ever get there, its on my list. Thank you for this, 2years later.
At the front of a walkway to Bothwell Castle, 2 boulders, one one the right Black Douglas, and on the left Moray. My GodMother was named Moray in Lanark xo
Thank you for such an interesting video. I visited Douglas many years ago to see the church and wish I had known as much about it then as I do now from seeing your video.
Yes for sure. I can’t wait to get in there. I promise I will film it. As I have a drone now I want to have a better look at Templar cross on the clock tower. But I want to see the tomb of one of my hero’s.
Yeah outlaw king was a great film imo. It has got more people aware of people like the black Douglas who may not have been to well know at least outside of Scotland. I’m glad you liked the video and got something from it. I wish I could have done the story more justice. Sorry for late reply but I’ve been having IT issues. Cheers :)
Thanks interesting video, such a shame councils don't have money to protect / restore places like this. Will ramble on to help your youtube algorithm, like the chanel videos are always interesting and give a good history of the places. Opened my eyes to some new places on my door step. Keep up the good work I am sure I am not the only one who enjoys these videos👍🏻👏🏴
Think it needs the owners (historic Scotland) and the council and government to all get together and help. But sad fact is there are so many sites and buildings in Scotland that have been decaying for centuries. Questions is. Where do they start? But I’d like to think the burial place of a man whom if we were without we would probable not be Scottish today. Well my goal is to make people aware of what we have on our door step as well as Scotland as a whole. Trying to promote our nation and its history. So I’m glad that people like yourself are enjoying :) . Also I appreciate your encouragement :) 🏴🏴🏴
I visited Saint Brides church a few years ago i was reading a book on the Douglas's a chap called James the gross, was buried in the church and thats when i discovered the Good Sir James the black Douglas was also buried inside the church. I found it very interesting . I recognised the area straight away before you actually mentioned it. Thanks for another interesting vist.
Do you think that the Templar style cross would be to honour Sir James'attempt to get to the Holy Land with King Robert's heart? My Grandmother was a Douglas born in Canada but her Great Grandfather was born in Perthshire, Scotland and emigrated.
Scotlandforeverwithjohn1647 sorry for not replying sooner. I don't know where his bones are. Popular consensus is vandalism. Was back last week and St Brides is surrounded by herris fencing as the historic Scotland have found the building to be unsafe. Its been like this for a good while now. Quick question. Is Douglas the same place as Castle Douglas? My sons and I went to the ruins of Douglas Castle last year. I was looking for my great grandfather Robert Douglas but struck out. He is buried somewhere at Castle Douglas. Need to make another trip. ❤
I am a descendent of the "Black" Douglas's. Thank you so much I want to visit what I feel is my soul homeland. Love your accent.
Lovely place and it's not far away from lesmahagow

Another extremely good commentary.

What is contained in the stone jars in the rear of St. Bride's Church?
I’m not sure. I’ll need to look into it. Which jars? Cheers
There was a UA-cam channel that featured the Douglases. Any chance you can find the guys name? His channel was excellent.
Was it just about the Douglases?
@@MhorScotland and yeah and he did a vid about Jedburgh being the home of the Scotland king but this info was wiped off the map by the English.

Been here many times, absolutely love the place. Felt sick when I found out none of his remains are in his grave.
Ahha they moved other Douglas remains from other tombs to. Do you have any info on why and where they moved them?
Cheers
@tzedeck Haya judah Would you please elaborate? Tell us everything! ❤

Proud to be a Douglas .
Not far from Irongray Parish.
Is that irongray near Dumfries?
Scotland is still an occupied territory alba shaor 🏴

Castle Douglas is in Dumfriesshire. Douglas is in Lanarkshire many miles from each other.
its funny every single black Douglas video has Americans all claiming to be decented from him
Well don't worry I won't. Funny though I have seen plenty of Douglas use the name Hamilton.😎
