- A short photo slide show I`d put together to look back at Louis Tussauds House of Wax Museum in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. Sadly it closed in 2013 after the owners took retirement, it was voted the World worst Wax Museum in 2008, where it gain Cult Status. But also it had a unique charm to it as well. Even those none of the Wax Works look like the Celebrities they meant to look like. These are photo`s of the museum I`d took between 2008 and 2011, and I`m glad that I`d did. As all we have left are the memories to look back on at this unusual and charming Wax Works Museum. I hope you enjoy the photo slide show.

I loved the waxworks, they had a certain charm, if not 100% likeness for the people they're meant to portray. It had a musty smell in there, and quite atmospheric. I particularly enjoyed the chamber of horrors, there were ancient torture devices depicted, as well as sadistic killers. Another nice touch was the retro amusement arcade, with the 50s, 60s and 70s machines. I'd love to know what happened to all that stuff, hope the new owners managed to preserve these, and the better waxwork models.
I went there sometime in the late 80s and being a kid the chamber of horrors caused all sorts of trauma .
Shame it's gone I'd love to revisit as an adult .
Now this brings back some great memories. I’d love to have been able to take my children here.

I absolutely loved going in there as a kid, even back then I knew it was low rent and shabby but that was part of the fun, it had a strange sort of kitsch-y charm, I’m pretty gutted it closed down to be honest
I lived in Gt Yarmouth when I was a kid in the 60s and would go in there often, why I don't know because it used to scare the crap out of me every time..!!!

I had a great time in there, i was lucky as i just made it for a look a year before it shut. Sadly missed

I loved this wax works visited it every time I holidayed in great yarmouth and I was sad to se it close especially when the othe wax works at the bottom of regent Road had closed also I think this closure made many people not come back to yarmouth and holiday in places like Blackpool which still has waxworks and the same is happening again now that yarmouth no longer has bingo's either
As a kid in the 80s we visited Great Yarmouth in the 80s from about 1982 until 1992 for 10 years in a row - there was another waxworks at the top of this street (now a hotel) every year my mum would take us in one of them , this one was the funniest - me and my sister would walk round laughing at the hilarious waxworks , my mum would tell us off , the other waxworks was a bit better but not much, this one had more charm to it even if some of the waxworks were scary and funny looking ❤
I first went on holiday to Great Yarmouth when i was 10 years old with my mum dad and sister,And went every year after that.I too used to want to go in the wax works.I always remember a wax work of Marilyn Monroe.She was on a bed and had a pink feather boa round her facing a mirror.Shame the wax works aren't there anymore.

My mum used to be the cleaner in the 80's and i used to hang out there as a teenager whilst mum cleaned, i used to move models about just to wind the owners up lol.
I used to visit every time I visited Great Yarmouth whilst working offshore my favourite was Cleopatra
Visited this museum on many occasions on family holidays to Yarmouth. Do you remember the World of Wax as well which used to sit opposite the Britannia Pier ?

It's so true that half of them looked nothing like the real celebrities, and the other half all looked like they'd been in a terrible accident. For example, Stan Laurel looks more like Rik Mayall, The Beatles look like they're straight from an episode of Spitting Image, Eddie The Eagle looks like he's shit himself while he was skiing, Mr Bean looks too handsome, and as for Michael Jackson, well what more needs to be said!!! XD Without a doubt the worst wax museum ever, but also quite glad that I got the chance to go to it a few months before it closed, cause it definitely had a hilarious charm to it and it really was a Great Yarmouth institution, very much like the market chip stalls, the snails, Docwra's Rock Factory, the Golden Mile, the medieval town walls etc.
It wasn't that bad ! Most of the wax works were decent , just a few were a little 'off' but i really miss the place and trips to Yarmouth have never been the same since it closed

I got my **** out in the Hall of Mirrors when I went with my GF and her best Friend. We all laughed.

Pretty awful, even when the picture is clear. Half the time, recognition comes as much from the clothing and hairstyle as from the features. And the chanber of horrors - what a hoot. I assume that the one with the woman in decKchair is meant to be Christie, pity it's the wrong kind of mask. Similarly, 'Acid Bath' Haigh didn't use a domestic bath, he used an old oil drum and heat.
