I must say I hate almost all intro tracks. One of the best intros I have heard was Gost (the techno metal band)s last album, even though I did not like the music so much. Almost all other intros just seem like filler.
When I was 12 went to buy Seven Churches on cassette it was the only time a record store employee ever made me get a parent to make the purchase. My mom thanked him for wasting her time.

Agree completely with this. All killer, no filler, Possessed have shown that once again 'old timer' bands can not only still be relevant but can show the way for more modern bands. Superb.

I struggled to listen to Seven Churches because of the production, so when I decided to give this a shot my expectations weren't too high. Needless to say it blew me away. Maybe my favourite sounding production of all time.
Absolutely untouchable album. I only got into these guys in the last few years, as I was a bit young when this stuff was coming out. Once I dicovered old school Possessed I must have clocked hours and hours and hours just listening to their stuff over and over. Then this album drops and holy hell is it good.
I listened to the entire album and to me it follows in the same vain as Eyes of horror which is a good thing while not being it’s carbon copy and I am not disappointed in the least... I am happy with the vocals , bass and guitar riffs and drums the production Is modern but not overdone i believe it will be in my listening rotation for a long time...Thanks Jeff and Possessed crew for taking time to make a great enjoyable exciting comeback record this from a longtime Possessed fan from the 80’s! Ok. I’m back after listening to half of the Warforged ‘shout-out’ and I gotta say. After you’ve done your duty to Possessed, you absolutely HAVE TO CHECK OUT that Warforged album. Holy mother of WTF it’s really freaking good.
Creative Paradox Seriously. Here’s how it went for me. I got 1/3 into this review, paused it, went and listened to the entire Possessed album, came back... caught the shout out. So, a cpl songs in, I came back and made my comment. Then I started Warforged over from the beginning. I got auditory whiplash. I listened to something else to ‘cleanse the pallet’ and then I went and Re-Listened to Warforged to make sure I didn’t imagine it. Holy shit. That really just happened.
Yeah, but that's what death metal was back then. It was bands taking thrash and pushing the limits and then smashing them. Deeper vocals, more violent lyrics, more black magic, harder drums, deeper guitar tones. More twisted and technical arrangements with more intense tempo changes.
Possessed's 2nd and 3rd releases were more thrash than death. I find this new one to be just as deathy as seven churches, if not more. Many thrash parts for sure. I love the mix of death and thrash they bring
Death metal has always been thrashy, that's what death metal is, a darker and more brutal and evil version of thrash metal 🤦♂️, same goes for black metal
same age as Sam here, heard Seven Churches for the first time in 1987 and it was too extreme for me at the time... I got into the band a couple years later and still one of my favorite death metal bands along Obituary, Entombed and Death

I was there when they first came out. and me and my friends were like what the hell is this!! It was something new so brutal and the voice was so deep and dark, it was awesome that's when I learned there was a new metal In Town, death metal! And I fell in love with this band! But I was completely destroyed when I found out they were no more! But now all these years later I get to live everything I knew they could become! I cant wait to buy this masterpiece! I just hope they keep delivering after the album! I don't want to wait another 33 years for another one!

Still listening on repeat. This album is thrashy as fuck. They tread the line of thrash and old school death metal as good as anyone on this album. Think ‘Slaughter in the Vatican’ or old Sepultura with better production. Jeff sounds like a mix of Zetro and Chuck. 5 fucking skulls!!

Eh, solid Possessed record aside. I counted 14 relevant records that came out today. New Warforged, Dreadnought, Spirit Drift, Idle Hands, Big|Brave, Employed To Serve, We Never Learned To Live, Martyrdöd, Inanimate Existence just to name a few so yeah check those out!
Fun fact: ONSLAUGHT's Power From Hell album had a "Death Metal' track which was issued 6 months before Seven Churches (though Onslaught delved in thrash, of course).
@kill as one those UK hardcore punk bands that crossed over during '84/'85 onwards (Onslaught, Sacrilege, English Dogs, Concrete Sox, Deviated Instinct etc) don't get the credit they deserve.

I think this is an awesome album and I'm so glad to have the band back. If I had one complaint with it though is it's a little too long. I think instead of 53 minutes they should have cut it down to about 45 minutes. That's really the only negative thing I have to say about it though.
Just listened to the album and what a comeback, every track slays and well worth the 33 year wait. For me best album of 2019 and best comeback ever. Get this album 5 out of 5. 🤘🤘🤘

i always felt Jeff had a bit of Lemmy in his vocals, which only added to Possessed's charm. ~ I feel as if Jeff Beccera's bandmates have a true love for him and they've delivered an opus worthy of Possessed.

Possessed record, I have only read/listened good things about this record. I agree with Sam, this record and it's "old-school modern" sound really is proof that metal is timeless. I honestly I never thought I'd see a new Possessed album that sound.
Robert and Emilio hail from Coffin Texts, California's stab at Egyptian themed metal. Check that band out, you won't be disappointed
Think I was around 20 when seven churches came out, and they are right. No one can beat that first album, but this was a really good try. Posessed rocks!

It’s been 3 weeks and it’s still awesome! Wish more death metal vocalists would sound as powerful, the low guttural muppets lose the aggression and intonation. 5/5!!!
