The Constitution 86th Act, 2002 inserted Article 21-A in the Constitution of India to provide free and compulsory educationof all children in the age group of six to fourteen years as a Fundamental Rightin such a manner as the State may, by law, determine...
Let’s accept that the people who employ children at their homes or places of work in the name of giving them an opportunity to earn a living and sustain themselves instead of starving, are not as charitable as they pretend to be. They benefit greatly from the children they look upon as nothing more than cheap labour; labour that doesn’t question them, is always at their service, resides in a corner of their house to answer their every beck and call, and can be molded to the best of the owner’s needs.
alka kumari As per Article 343 of the Constitution of India, India's official languages shall be Standard Hindi (the dialect known as khadi boli) written in the Devanagari script, and English. ... So, weend up having a total of 22 official languagestoday (excluding English). However, India doesnot have a national language.
alka kumari Why is that many Indians wrongly consider Hindi to be India's national language, when it officially has none? Note: Hindi is not national language of India. India has 23 Officially recognized languages, majority of which are written on the reverse side of every currency bill. Now, I will try to give my 0.02$ Ignorance might be one reason why a lot of people think that Hindi is the national language. But there is more to it. If we look at sheer numbers, according to the 2001 Census data (Wikipedia provides only 2001 data) we can see Hindi speaking people are around 422 M and the next most spoken language: Bengali, has 83M speakers. So if one looks at from the perspective of a Hindi speaking guy, he knows that there are around 422M people (USA population is ~330 M) who speak the same language as he does. Where as other major language speakers can’t say the say at such a huge scale. So, the Hindi speaker starts thinking that it is the national language. Also, the northern Gangetic plain is vast and has few geographical barriers in between which makes the whole area one entity. However if we move to southern India, there are 4 major languages: Telugu (74M), Tamil (60M), Malayalam (33M) and Kannada (37M) each of which is spoken by enough people, but none at the scale of Hindi. Thus although we have a geographical entity of South India with the culture also quite similar, the language is not. A Chennaiite would have equal difficulty in understanding the locals of Hyderabad as I would. This also holds for all other parts of India. This point has been discussed in enough answers. Now, the more important point (according to me), National Politics in India used Hindi as the communicating medium which is why I think people who converse in Hindi think (of course out of ignorance) that it is the national language. If we look at the Prime Ministers of India, almost all have hailed from northern India and/or can speak fluently in Hindi. In fact most of them hail from and/or contested from the largest state (by population) Uttar Pradesh and the primary language of the UPites is Hindi. Jawaharlal Nehru (born in Allahabad, UP) Gulzarilal Nanda (born in Punjab but could speak Hindi) Lal Bahadur Shashtri (MP from Allahabad, UP) Indira Gandhi (MP from Rae Barelli, UP) Morarji Desai (fluent in Hindi) Charan Singh (MP from Bagphat, UP) Rajiv Gandhi (MP from Amethi, UP) VP Singh (MP from Fatehpur, UP) Chandra Shekhar (MP from Ballia, UP) PV Narsimha Rao (fluent in 17 languages obviously in Hindi) Atal Bihari Vajpayee (MP from Lucknow, UP) H. D. Deve Gowda (did not know Hindi when he was a PM*) I. K. Gujral (MP, Rajya Sabha for Bihar) Manmohan Singh (from Punjab, Northern India, fluent in Hindi) Narendra Modi (MP from Varanasi) Also, other major leaders also tend to be from Northern India (UP has 80 Lok Sabha seats) and so the major speeches, interviews, debates take place in Hindi. Thus, an uninformed person who speaks Hindi might feel that since majority of the discussion of national importance takes place in Hindi, it is the national language of India. *Gowda didn’t know how to speak in Hindi when he was the Prime Minister (I don’t know whether he can do it now). He promised that he would give his Independence day speech in Hindi. He kept his promise. He delivered a speech in Hindi on August 15 ONLY the speech was written in Kannada script :P khud search karo dusro ko bolne Se pehle and ego par mat lo bas search karo official language hain not national language ......and haan search karna Tabh hi reply karna
