Thanks Brian. That was interesting and exactly what I needed to know. My wife and I have both been driving teslas for many years. I finally ordered an R1T and plan to buy a camper in the spring. I am really looking forward to lots of fun adventures. Since I am in Frederick MD maybe I will run into you someday at one of the regional parks.
Hello Brian, thanks very much for the VLOG. Excellent, thorough, and informative, as usual. I especially liked your coverage of the RAN site in Front Royal, since my wife and I will be taking off on a road trip in our R1S this summer and will plan to experience the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive for the first time. And we will--of course--be planning on a stop at the RAN in Front Royal, as we exit Shenandoah National Park. I also really enjoyed your attention to speed and its effect on efficiency. 1.3 miles per kWh is really, really good, when you are pulling a 4000-pound trailer through the mountains. Good going! Thanks again!
For those who don't know Blue Ridge mountains. Black Water falls is across the mountains not along them. You would go west of I81 to get to it. Going along blue ridge or skyline would be a different feat. I don't think it's impossible though!
Thanks for watching, commenting, and sharing feedback, as well as your summer travel plans. Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive sound like awesome destinations, so we may have to try those in the fall during foliage change. As you know speed has the biggest impact on range, so I was very intentional in setting conservative yet safe speeds to optimize efficiency. 1.3 was our effeciency retuning from high elevation. it was just over 1 going up...
I've went to Blackwater and davis alot when I was younger. nice to see electirc cars towing can make it out there. Have you tried to go from MD to Nashville or Pigeon Forge. I've done it with my Model Y towing a 3,500lb travel trailer twice now. Just wanted to get your specs from the trip if you have!
Thanks for watching, commenting and sharing your experience. We did a MD to Asheville, NC trip in 2017 w/ our Model X, but not towing. Looking forward to more towing adventure w/ our R1T.
Just a helpful reminder that breakers under consistent load should only run at 80% of their rated amperage. So with a 50 A breaker, we should be limiting our charging to 40 Amps max (50 x .8). This is the same at home as it is at campsites.
Thanks for watching and commenting. WVA is indeed an EV charging desert of sorts, which is why we charged to nearly 100% before going there. It's also why we chose Blackwater Falls as it is just over the MD & VA borders not too deep in WVA.
Thanks for watching and commenting. We did indeed meet nice & interesting folk while charging at Blackwater Falls. One even inspired me to find an EV auto mechanic course at Hagerstown Community College... ;)
Thanks for watching and commenting. We do love our Little Guy Max. Full queen size bed, fridge, 2-burner stove, wet bath, dinette that covers to a twin, 2 built-in TV's, HVAC, solar, etc. It's perfect for a couple.

Nicely done. Thanks for sharing your R1T towing experience with great informational details.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Glad you found value in this video.
I’ll be doing a towing comparison with my brother’s Cybertruck in a few weeks.
Thank you so much for putting this video together! Very informative, liked every aspect of it

I think you are going to find that many campground pedestals will fail because many 29:11 campground grids are not built to support a consistent load.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great point. Hopefully we'll see enhancements to better support campers in EV's.

Brian excellent video isn't WV an EV charging desert though?

In our Hyundai Ioniq 5, we have met some very nice people while charging (for free) at Blackwater Falls State Park in WV!

Charlotte loves her dog seat and she is an awesome companion on our roadtrips.
Jealous of that camper!
