    Will you be doing a review on flywheel equipment sometime in the future?

    • @BasementBrandon

      No, I don't have any interest in using one in my training.

    • @imluzhin

      Thank you for both answers. I have a feeling that many reviewers are beholden

    • @imluzhin
      @imluzhin 2 роки тому

      Hi Brandon:
      I believe you are one of the more honest reviewers. I thank you for that. Some are being sent free equipment. Only that is not revealed.
      I am curious to hear your opinion on flywheel exercise and why you have no intention to review. Sorinex has a small unit that fits on a 3 x 3 column.

    • @BasementBrandon

      @@imluzhin They just seem gimmicky to me, are typically expensive, and I don't see how they fit into my style of training (powerlifting).

    Man I love this content!
    I feel it difficult to make the powerbuilding ai program in my home gym with very limited equipment. Is the programming on the powerlifting ai catered more to a minimalistic set up and fewer exercises as well as combo/super sets?

    • @BasementBrandon

    Really enjoying following along for this Juggernaut meet prep saga. Great storytelling.
    6 sets of 5 with heavy weights for the big 3 + accessories.... How long did this session take? Are you supersetting?

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  2 роки тому

      This week was tougher to gauge b/c I didn't do any accessories. When I do, most sessions can still be completed in an hour. If I'm doing all 3 lifts in one day, I usually give priority to the first movement and try to superset the other 2 somehow.

  • @ericfried2846
    @ericfried2846 2 роки тому +1

    Nice video Brandon and congrats on the vasectomy! I had mine last Aug and it was pretty easy going, although I couldn’t get back to full steam on lifting for about 10 days. Still had some pain after a week.
    Thanks for covering how you condense your training. I tend to follow a program exactly as written, kind of like FOMO for gains, but you seem to approach it with a level head and a realistic grasp on what the overall strength impact is. I’m going to start incorporating this approach. Question - when you don’t do all exercises in a given day, do you select the “didn’t finish” toggle when you wrap up the day?

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  2 роки тому

      Yeah I just know short term sacrifice equals long term gains. I'm hoping it's just a week but if I need more I"ll take it! In terms of logging I flip flop. I don't think it actually makes a difference though.

    If my bench every week (on week3) is feeling super light/easy compared to how squat/deadlift weights are feeling should I add more than it suggests or do the max weight it suggests (usually a 5-6.5 rpe rating) and for the week just say it was too easy for the weekly survey thing?

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  2 роки тому

      like most things, it depends. I would prob suggest first increasing the progression at your end of the week check ins and see how that goes.

    Do you pay for the merchandise that you review or is it mostly given away by the manufacturer? This is an important question.I am just a humble consumer and would like to understand the common practice within the fitness review industry.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  2 роки тому

      It's a mixed bag. Most of this stuff I buy with my own money these days. If it's a cheaper or budget item, it's usually sent to me in exchange for a review.

  • @ExpeditionaryRanger

    Sound advice on the stiff bar. Do you know what bar will be at the next competition? What's the most commonly used bars when you compete?
    Take it easy sir. Everyone I know personally that had that surgery rushed the recovery and ended up getting laid up for a few weeks or having very uncomfortable issues... non were high level amateur powerlifters though... wimps in reality I guess...

    • @BasementBrandon

    Does the volume become extremely high on this program? I've seen some training vlogs from the powerbuilding and the program has them doing 5-6 sets of squats and deadlifts on the same day plus accessories for example.

    • @AccountErrorify
      @AccountErrorify 2 роки тому

      Yeah, the volume can definitely get pretty high in my experience. Im doing powerbuilding with JuggernautAI an the most intense week of my first hypertrophy block has 8 sets of 10 high bar squat followed by 4 sets of 8 deadlift then 5 or so accessories in the 2-4 set range

    • @Ksnydes12
      @Ksnydes12 2 роки тому

      @@AccountErrorify I just can't see how that type of volume is needed ever. Hoping the powerlifting program isn't like this otherwise I can't see myself sticking with something like that for the long run

    I did my consultation with the urologist and decided the risk from the procedure, while low, wasn’t worth it for me.
    Apparently 1% of patients experience permanent ball pain after the procedure. Permanent… 1% is too high for me if that’s the outcome in question.
    My wife and I are in our 40s though so the risk of pregnancy isn’t very high anyway, especially with a properly worn rubber and the old pull out method 💦
