Shopping your stash is such a logical way against consumerism. You can do lazy sunday look, no make up monday, date night friday, saturday glam look, etc.
I don't understand people who don't shop their stash. I shop my stash EVERY day and have since stopped buying new makeup because I kind of have every color that flatters me and I know the things that work.
Definitely i feel like anytime i want a product i tend to first look at what i have and see if I can achieve that look? If not I consider buying it maybe (I tend to wait anyways I want to be listing after it for a while so it’s worth it to me.)
You inspired me to start shopping my stash. I only apply it to eyeshadow palettes because that's the largest category in my collection. I choose one palette to use for the week and switch every Sunday. It's been great so far!

I found there were things like single eye shadows I neglected but just focusing on palettes and its given me a good reason to rotate through things and figure out what I enjoy and what I don't enjoy. Because I have small shallow drawers in the bathroom where I get ready, I was kinda forced into a shop my stash. At first I was keeping too much in those drawers and I was getting overwhelmed. I bought some storage cubes for all my makeup, moved it out of those drawers. Now I go in every week and choose what I will use that week and put only those things in the drawers. It has helped so much. I get more excited to put on my makeup and I'm using more of the products I own.
I don't do a traditional shop my stash. My collection is pretty minimalistic, I don't need an encouragement to rotate through my products, since my collection is very small. I started creating themed palettes with my singles as my version of a shop my stash & as a creative outlet. It definitely helps to create looks, I usually wouldn't think of & discover new color combination techniques. I also share my palettes on IG, just to show to others how versatile a relatively small collection of around 80 shades of eyeshadow can be.

Definitely Shop My Stash & A VERY Low Buy for 2020. When I see a great makeup look, my goal is to go to my collection to see if I have products already that can help me create that look.
Somehow I feel like not only a shop my stash gives you a better usage of your products, it's also more challenging to greate looks with it. I think the idea of combining palettes as you do also makes up more concious of the colors you have in each and every palette, and that way you don't disregard them when you're interested in a new palette "because it's a cool toned one and I have really a few of them". You would be more compelled to tell yourself "I have some of these shadows in this palette and these ones in this other palette, and I remember mixing those two colors from X and Y and it looked a lot like this other shade". And that's nice!
I just did my first Shop My Stash bag! I’m usually doing my makeup first thing in the morning and it can be hard to make decisions when I’m tired, so the first perk I’ve noticed is that it’s actually helpful to have things already picked out.

It's so easy to get distracted by the new, shiny products that come out and forget the amazing products you already have in your collection. I found your tips so helpful and really inspiring. I especially love your idea of having themes for shopping your stash. I usually pick out products randomly and find it hard to stick to the ones I have chosen. I totally remember flashback Fridays :) I have never officially shopped my stash but through panning I have been able to explore things and rediscover my collection. I have also been challenging myself with colour and I now love colourful eyeliners and am trying to come up with different colour combos :) Your green eyeshadow is amazing :)
I've seen an approach that I really like. 7 in 7 which I prefer to alter to 5 in 5 (for the work week.) I tend to do my eyes up in a daily basis and do nothing else. So, I can pull for a blush, highlighter, bronzer, lipstick along with a palette or 2 to work in during the week. That gets me to use the face and lip products I neglect. I enjoy "duping the vibes" and I am planning to start challenging myself to make 5 + eye looks with my palettes.
My stash is not super extensive, especially when it comes to complexion products, but I shop my stash! Usually I like to pick 1 or 2 items that really drive a look - for me, that’s eye palettes and lip colors/combos - and challenge myself to use only those as a “theme” for a couple of weeks, mixing and matching other products from my stash with “the chosen ones.” Lol. I love all the ideas you shared here!
I bought WAY too much make up when I first discovered UA-cam make up tutorials a couple years ago. Now, I do shop my stash every week 🤗. I think this idea was really great and helped me to decrease my over consumption of products. Thank you!
I love shop my stash type videos and your advice for making it fresh and interesting is very helpful. Im starting small with my pallets. I have some beautiful pallets that are just hanging out on my shelf. So, every couple of weeks i choose a different pallet to focus on and i need to use it in some capacity at least 7 times. I can add in any other pallet or single i choose but.. The main chosen pallet is getting used. Im having a lot of fun with this. Next is foundation.. I have way to many to choose from sssooo.. I looked online and honestly I don’t want anything else. We’ll see how long that lasts hopefully all year except replacement items

I rotate my makeup every month, even though my collection is small, I don't need everything for doing my makeup and I love to rotate things! I leave the makeup in the bathroom bc is more comfortable to do it there before going out. I sometimes have a theme, this month is my favourite products from 2019, and last month was products that need more uses:)

I have loved your shop my stash series I started my own in the last month or so and will be continuing this type of make up use style long term from now on, I’m getting so much more use out of more of my products using this type of routine, mine i only need to use this routine with my eyeshadow palettes and I can do my makeup routine when getting ready so much faster now that I’m more thought out and organized and I’m playing with more different looks per palette when I only pull a few palettes per week and have all my other palettes put away ☺️
I enjoyed rewatching this video coming to end of the year I started shopping my stash in april at first i selected per week and was to limiting now I shop my stash per month and set targets per uses and tally up at end of month. It's been good encouragement to use my lipsticks as with wearing mask and not going to special events I probably wouldn´t have used them.

I feel like I have used my products more and found out I actually don’t like certain products that I thought I loved. I have really found some gems from my stash. I change up my items once a month but I am not as strict with my palettes. However I have one palette I use as a base and then go back to my stash when I need a different palette.

I keep my eyeshadow that I have pan in (4 at the moment- Colourpop Ss Birthday Cake, Stila Get Gilded, TF Rich Girl and Rollin in Dough) in rotation constantly. I then rotate in a different shadow in the week and then again at the weekend. The same goes for lipstick. I have MAC Dare You, Bare Minerals Love and MAC Glass Heel that I am panning then rotate in a new one a weekend. I am panning the NARS Killing Me Softly blush palette and rotate a new one in at the beginning of the month. Same with highlighter. X
It's easy for me to keep to my shopped items, since my collection is stored in a variety of train cases and boxes on one big shelf in my linen closet. No drawers! No light or moisture, either, which is a trade-off for not having easy access. My daily make-up basket is really a big red gift box that holds everything from foundation to eyelash curler. Dragging out my whole stash to shop is quite an effort. Still, I swap out the color cosmetics often.
I am ok with using 1 pallette until it is gone before I start another one. It feels so good and such an accomplishment. I do like smaller pallettes best because of this!

I needed to hear this.....I have started just wearing the ones that I like the most and leaving the great, but not best, makeup collecting dust. Honestly, if I am not going to wear that makeup I need to find someone who will. It is a waste of money otherwise.
I'm planning to do a shop my stash for 2020 but I haven't figured out the logistics of it. I have about 30 palettes (a few of which are brand new) and I know I want to rotate them. Possibly a palette a week? Lipstick I have over 70 lip products so I have no idea how to use them all. 2020 is going to be all about getting use out of my collection and figuring out how to do that haha
How do you shop your stash with liquid foundation or liquid products before they expire? I have a few that have upcoming exp. dates, which kinda stresses me out because I want to use them up while also giving attention to the others

I would like your advice on colorful eyeshadow pallets though. Let’s say I get the Colourpop Blue Moon pallet chosen for me for the two weeks, but I work in an office lol, how can I make that more “wearable”, but still get use out of it? Thanks in advance! 🥰
My favorite way to make colorful shades "wearable" is to smudge them into my upper lash line! That way you have some definition and a bit of color but the look is still soft!
I started shopping my stash a month ago and my favorite part is how much time is saves me in the mornings getting ready because I don’t sit staring at all my makeup trying to pick out what to wear😂
How I do it is I get a eyeshadow 🎨 and then I work around that color story. I also have a rule don't buy anything until you use it up except subscription boxes. Thats my cheat 😁
I rotate eye , lip and cheek products every week . I have very few base products which I love and use every day happily. I know exactly what things are there in my collection, so I can avoid things which may just be dupes. Also I have about 9 palettes , 9 blushes and highlighters. So every few months , its like I am rediscovering a new product. It makes me happy and appreciate things more. For New items , I don't mind using them for more than a week , because it really makes me happy to. But I don't let it go beyond 2 weeks so that I don't get bored of it. I wish more people would do makeup rotations because the joy of getting a product is in using it.

I kind of have a "shop my stash" thing going but not for at home, for at work. I work onboard trains so I'm gone several days at a time.

I love combining my palettes too, and creating new palettes out of my singles. I combine my lipsticks too. Is like I always have endless posibilities :3... I love your shop my stash videos :D!
I also live in Michigan, and I can't get over that you're wearing a tank top. Even indoors I would be freezing at this time of year!
I'm in Michigan too. Right now it's 19 deg. with a wind chill of 7 !!!!! No tank top for this girl LOL ;-)
Hahaha I live in a very old building with a VERY warm radiator!! Wearing a tank indoors is my only option in the winter!! haha
At least it's not a drafty old building LOL ;-) I lived in one of those once. Even that hot radiator didn't help !!!!

I needed to hear this.....I have started just wearing the ones that I like the most and leaving the great, but not best, makeup collecting dust.
Honestly, if I am not going to wear that makeup I need to find someone who will. It is a waste of money otherwise.
I'm planning to do a shop my stash for 2020 but I haven't figured out the logistics of it. I have about 30 palettes (a few of which are brand new) and I know I want to rotate them. Possibly a palette a week? Lipstick I have over 70 lip products so I have no idea how to use them all. 2020 is going to be all about getting use out of my collection and figuring out how to do that haha

How do you shop your stash with liquid foundation or liquid products before they expire? I have a few that have upcoming exp. dates, which kinda stresses me out because I want to use them up while also giving attention to the others

Hi Kelly! I’m a new-ish subscriber! I really enjoyed this video! I also do shop my stash and I actually use a random generator to pick all of my products. I would like your advice on colorful eyeshadow pallets though. Let’s say I get the Colourpop Blue Moon pallet chosen for me for the two weeks, but I work in an office lol, how can I make that more “wearable”, but still get use out of it? Thanks in advance! 🥰
My favorite way to make colorful shades "wearable" is to smudge them into my upper lash line! That way you have some definition and a bit of color but the look is still soft!

I started shopping my stash a month ago and my favorite part is how much time is saves me in the mornings getting ready because I don’t sit staring at all my makeup trying to pick out what to wear😂

How I do it is I get a eyeshadow 🎨 and then I work around that color story. I also have a rule don't buy anything until you use it up except subscription boxes. Thats my cheat 😁

I rotate eye , lip and cheek products every week . I have very few base products which I love and use every day happily. I know exactly what things are there in my collection, so I can avoid things which may just be dupes. Also I have about 9 palettes , 9 blushes and highlighters. So every few months , its like I am rediscovering a new product. It makes me happy and appreciate things more. For New items , I don't mind using them for more than a week , because it really makes me happy to. But I don't let it go beyond 2 weeks so that I don't get bored of it. I wish more people would do makeup rotations because the joy of getting a product is in using it.
