Reinhardt is a staple hero of Overwatch, Overwatch 2 and the Overwatch Lore Explained. His animated short, Reinhardt Animated Short or Rein animation or Rein animated short is beautiful and tells the story of his early life. playing any tank is torture, playing rein is like being in guantanamo
rein sucks so much, opponents sometimes get lost if they can't just braindead punch you like they used to with other reins. Pleasure to see enemy tank playing kaleidoscope just to try counter you.
General rule is: use covers
Playing Reinhardt right now is like trying to pay the rent of a penthouse apartment while working as a Starbucks barista

As a rein main . I’m literally a hinderance to my team and it makes me sad .
Old characters are basically fighting greek gods at this point (more literally with queen)
From a lore perspective ig it's accurate as crazy new people emerge as time goes on IRL, but I'm hoping their rein rework makes him fun to play again.
I was masters rein, and played esports for a small league. Rein is unplayable, shadow nerf after shadow nerf. Rein was already weak from counter play. He didn’t need more shadow nerds. We don’t need more shield pierce. Personally I would change rein greatly or remove him. Hes a overwatch one character he isn’t built for ov2. I miss the old overwatch :(
Blizzard's tank troubles all stem from their progressive abandonment of their original tank design; The stronger your damage negation is, the less versatile it is. In OW1 at launch Rein's barrier was by FAR the strongest in the game, but he couldnt do anything else while using it. The other tanks that COULD do stuff while their barriers were up were far more limited in their usage and strength, like Winston, DVA, and Zarya.
With Orisa, Blizzard ended up throwing that out and making it so strong barriers no longer needed a tradeoff, and that eventually led to double shield and also kind of GOATS when Sigma came along.

Why play Soldier? Bastion and Sojourn are just better.
Why play Rein? Orisa and Ramattra are just better.
Why play Zen? Bap, Illari, and Kiriko are just better.
Rien still has the highest winrate of any tank by far in the metal ranks. In season 6 they outright stated that he dominates low rank which is why he won’t get the buffs orisa for example seemingly gets out of nowhere. Kiri doesn’t get nerfed because she has the lowest winrate by far out of the supports in the metal ranks. If the character is broken or horrible for 90% of the player base but the narrative is the opposite because every content creator plays at high elo then the narrative isn’t correct. Same with soujourn she has literally never had a positive winrate below masters to my knowledge but the narrative is that she is broken because she preforms well in high elo. (That’s why she and Kiri are constantly getting their values tuned to lower their skill ceilings and raise their skill floors).
Mauga however did absolutely destroy Riens place in the game. The new power crept characters specifically complained about in this video have been proven to only really be effective at high elo (barring launch mauga) as most players just can’t get all the value out of their kits. Seriously the difference between how metal rank players play in kitsune rush vs how high elo players use the ult is game changing.
There also isn’t inherently anything wrong with having simpler and more complex characters in the game. Cass for example doesn’t need to be as complex as doomfist or have 4 abilities to be a good or fun character. He still has use cases where he is absolutely the best pick like against characters with strong movement abilities.
We might just have to accept that not every character can be simultaneously broken at high elo as more character’s with more variables get added to the game it’s just unrealistic to expect every character to be good at any given time. That’s part of the reason why every patch they massively buff the one tank that’s out of the meta.
Realistically though they should be balancing the game around the characters people actually like playing with and against. Instead of you know who has a skin in the battle pass. The majority of the player base at any elo would almost certainly rather play Rien v Rien compared to orisa v orisa for example but that’s not what we get

@@kellyGDHif Rein gets GIGABUFFED we will just be watching Rein Lucio Bap Mei Bastion/Sym the entire OWCS lmao. Well high ranked play usually revolves around meta strats so its nothing new but either way Rein needs a way to compete with the current brawl tanks. JQ and Ram are really fun so gutting them for being fun (well nano ram ult is cringe but whatever) the devs need to find a solution.
Shatter with everyone's increased health is painful. If it's not absolutely perfect it's just death.
think thats the point of next patch but i guess we will find out hopefully tank wont suck to play still

I mean I know why Illari exists. Because SOMEONE isn’t shooting Pharah. Also they just made dps really good
If they make illari dps she would basically need a rework as you would have 3 support. If anything she is considered a "fine enough" support after her pylon and bullet hitbox were toned down. Now in s9 she isnt even as good ag killing things. The issue is camping pylon in annoying spot was cringe as it had so much uptime. Imo making it a tactical cooldown you cycle would work but the raw stats nerf makes it not overturned ig.
Rein suffers from the mmorpg tank design philosophy. It works well in player versus everything content. But his style of tanking against players is too one dimensional. He could work as a "wall" as an offtank, but this is 5v5 now. The only way i see him being meta is if he gets the giga buff treatment, but then it will be just like mauga, shit core gameplay design (relative to every other hero) band aid fixed with overtuned BS. Rein needs a severe rework if not complete overhaul of his kit.

Everyone coping in the comments, blizzard have only damaged overwatch since ow2, it’s not unplayable but it’s definitely a worse game now then it was a couple years ago

Hi i hope you stil read comments, As a tank main i too say just rework Rein he is a shit tank but you know why they won't rework him now? if you look at stats which is the way they balance the tanks and the game, Rein on PC (i play on PS5) Rein has a 4.06% pick rate, 13% more than Sigma and a 51.93% win rate. the point is that the higher the stats of a hero will continue to be high they won't touch him because if the hero preforms well so why we gotta rework him\her? get me? if you look at Ball he has 1.75% pick rate so they are planning on reworking him in the future same with Reaper. as for the changes i do like the decrease hs damage and bufff heals but removing wall climb will hurt her ninja aspect and her connection to Genji and Hanzo, For Iilari yeah make her a dps. thank you for your time

I mean the whole basis of this video is a skill issue. Rein is way better than mauga. You "somehow" forgot to mention that unlike Maugas charge Rein pin is an insta kill. Rein does have some problems in some matchups but he is not outdated. This vid could be just rage bait but in the slim chance you are actually serious I recomend you try and learn how to play Rein
rein pin is hard to hit and mauga's has aoe damage like i said, you take on more risk with rein's pin because the weaknesses that i mentioned, mauga has life steal, rein has to rely on his supports more, mauga does more damage, has more mobility, has greater options for range fighting, has a better ult, has bettter abilities, AND im masters on tank with more than 50 hours on reinhardt I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT

@@Kalakakku_ Nah you've got to be baiting. "Learn how to play rein" is wild when I have barely seen him in a GM lobby in months outside of one tricks. Saying shit like that makes me think you dont know how to play any character, if you dont understand what creates value.
Also the fact that rein is the only tank that can't regen health or get armour/overshields.
