Funny, that, I have one of these "newer" model C5s since its launch day here in May 2008 and after 4 and a half years it's the same now as the day I drove it home for the first time. Reliability has been 100%, too, haven't even had to change a bulb in it! Really has been great, best car I've ever owned!

Citroen is a world leader in car development, and most definitely in the suspension part..... No car in the world can beat them in comfort.....

also, almost every car has its moments that it drops in price, so his last point is shit aswell, stupid program in my opinion, they have no knowledge

Citroen, always. Quality in them is remarkable. Citroen and Peugeot are definetly shoulder to shoulder with VW. German cars (except premium class) are living on it's myths for a while now. And HDi is way more durable than TDI...

I have had a Seat Toledo for 10 years and at 167,000 miles and still running fabulously,I know it is a wonderful car.
The C5 Citroen is such a beautiful and well built car. I know of someone who has driven one throughout Europe for over a year. His C5 has always been totally reliable and comfortable.

this video is over 2 years old, and the citroen c5 has most definitely stood the test of time, resale value is very strong, and reliability is way better than the passat

Citroen is best! So much nicer than German!I'll have the C5 3.0 HDi diesel with 240BHP

c5 is great, but am6 sucks. quite good engine, which could easily get 300hp+ and over 500Nm, but gearbox say game over for more torque over 450Nm. v6 sounds great, but 2.2 hdi could easily reach same parameters and costs less. v6 should get better transmission nad fight with powerful germans on autobahns

Actually, go to any Passat that older than a year and you will find a lot of plastics inside that rattle. The plastic in Passat is 20 years behind the one in C5. You obviously havent seen both of these cars. Citroens interior is ROCK SOLID, yet smooth and soft. You can punch the central console and it feels like its all made from one piece of materiad. C5 is much closer to A4 than to Passat if you look at the interior.

When I went on a school outing very many years ago, one mother drove me in a beautiful Jaguar. It was the same type they used in the British "Morse"series. I loved the looks of that car.

This Citroen C5 is such a lovely car. It is actually very solidly built. I always keep cars a long time, so I don't get all worried about resale. If you buy a sensible diesel engine in the C5 like the 2.0 litre. Running costs will be very acceptable.

When I was young, Jaguar was an amazing British company. I actually read that the top powered diesel in the Citroen C5 was also used in a Jaguar. Peugeot and Ford share engines with Citroen. Of course Jaguar is now an outstandingly good car. I read excellent reports in the motoring magazines.

Citroen will always have a special place in my mind for the fact that the C4 is the only stick-shift I have ever seen with a cruise-control. Also, the French, with their bumpy roads, have probably got the best suspension of many sedans.

ok. I haven`t tried the jelly test but I totally agree with you, built for comfort and they`ve been doing it for not just years but decades, from 1955 to be exact(The legendary Citrtoen DS). Need I go on?
I`d buy the C5 in a heartbeat! GO CITROEN!

Hi, I was on the shoot. In fact I rigged the in car cameras. Both were driven at the same speed, although the road was uneven and impossible to hit the same potholes in both cars. Not exactly scientific but the C5 suspension was much smoother and absorbed the bumps much better.

first they are wrong its hydractive or hydro-gas.
basically you have 4 hollow balls wit a hole at the underside. the ball is separated through the middle with a thick rubber membrane above the membrane you gave a compressible gas and below you have a non compressible fluid. working wheel goes up, pushes fluid up in a bicycle pump fashion, then the membrane moves up and compresses the gas giving you the driving on a cloud experience

The diesel engines were a joint development between Ford and PSA (Peugeot / Citroen, They are the same company). Obviously still in use even though Ford no longer own Jaguar. Used in many other marques as well Mini, Volvo, Mitsubishi among many others. Mini use the 1.6 diesel in the new mini. And the 1.6 petrol engines in the Mini you can find in PSA cars now.

I've just come back from one of the Jag plants about an hour ago where I was honoured to see the new xj. All I am allowed to say is that wait until July 9th if you want to see what JLR are really capable of. And of course the 2010 model year Range Rover Sport which I did the 0-100-0 mph test in against the 2009 model year, just unbelieveable.

I love the looks of the Citroen C5. One must have at least the 2.0 diesel engine in it as the car itself is quite heavily built. It is heavier than the Ford Mondeo, but I prefer the Citroen C5 by far to look at. The Citroen would definitely get my money. They share the same engines.

  • @yonumpty

Depends on which engines you say are better...The diesel engines in the Jaguars are the same as those found in the Citroens.

Resale Value?? lol... Who cares for resale value when you get a car that will take you as far as like 10 years and STILL be at it's prime?? Let me tell you, the C4 first came out in 2004, I got mine in 2007, Citroen did a minor facelift about a year ago and the car STILL sells like crazy! VW changed the design of their Golf (which is the same category) 3 times (!!) since 2004... And I dare anyone to check how much a 2004 Golf costs now! ;)

  • @cattleman6420012000

They use the same diesel engine in the Ford Mondeo,Peugeot and the more powerful engine is also found in Jaguar.

  • @derbigpr500

If theres anything that french do good, then its the engines. Citroen and Renault diesels are probably the best in class. They have a lot of power, they are light, and dont sound like tractors. They as smooth as petrol engines.

  • @rondar2

he is going so much faster with Passat than she did with the C5...
the citroen looks and feels nice indeed but after a few thousand km's you start to hear sounds from interior parts... this doesn't happen in the Passat and that show's the true build quality.

British design, British built and with a very British ethos. Funnily enough the people at Jaguar/Land Rover feel more British now they are owned by the Indians because they have a freedom to design and improve which the Americans (Ford) wouldn't give them.

Surely you go for hydropneumatic to iron out the bumps. It is a weird thing to make a mile muncher try and drive like a mildly warm hatch. Having run Clio sports on track I can tell you that the German cars have little to zero appeal as a drivers car they are just hard riding, too heavy and most won’t power oversteer unless you treat them in a way the police would take you off the road for so rwd is pointless. The mondeo is better but still a no-mans land. You still feel the bumps when you’re not at 10/10ths which is just annoying. Beemers on anything more than 17s are just bone crunching over motorway joints!! The Citroens are still magic carpet on 19s!
