Kinda like in the middle of meditation or the yoga practice… you observe the emotions, you feel them [even if they make you feel like you have a thousand of ants 🐜 crawling on your skin] + then you let them… pass. The exhalation moment 🌬 then becomes your TRUE STILLNESS. You can’t be mad at the truth anymore, whether it’s yours or someone else’s. When my grandpa died my grandma had a “celebration of life” party where she trash talked him to anyone who would listen, she made it clear she hated him with a passion because of how mean and childish and antagonistic he was and only stuck it out for the benefits and her children. Their relationship was just like this couple. All his stuff was burned in a bonfire along with every picture she had of him, my dad and his siblings joined in the festivities happily.

thats so true, being with these guys are brain altering. Somehow they manage to make themselves seem like the perfect guy, and get you to fall for them, then over time, their mask slowly begins to fall, and you try desperately to stick in back on while everything seems to fall apart. Sometimes you have kids or other factors that make it really hard to leave, or your situation without that person would seem even worse, so you just accept it. Push the pain down and find a way to focus on the "good" things, all the while, you lose a part of yourself too. I left a relationship like this ~ a year ago, and it was SO hard... I still feel like I love the guy, so it was incredibly painful to push myself away when he tried everything to win me back. I knew he wasn't actually going to change..and even If he did, it shouldn't have taken me losing myself and deciding to leave to finally make him change. So I left, and 7 months later I'm the happiest I've ever been. Im spending more time with family, doing great in college, and have even met a new guy who is truly a dream come true. So for anyone woman out there reading this- I know its hard... its painful, and you'll doubt yourself time and time again, but sometimes leaving is worth it... sometimes you open a door to a better life you never dreamed was possible... no one deserves to have their heart stomped on and puppeteered around. If you can find the courage to leave, I promise you'll be thankful you did...sending love to anyone going through this

I love your story. This is what decentring men is all about. Ultimately, you have to find your own happiness because it is always internal not external. My approach to relationships has always been like that. I prioritise my own happiness though I must admit with 3 children, it takes a deliberate effort to carve out time for myself. I have maintained my best 2 hobbies in my 12 years of marriage and even my children know that mommy has her 'special time' when they know, I won't be available. My husband certainly has more hobbies than me and he is able to do more things but I am not resentful because I still have time to myself that I am just me. Not a wife. Not a mother. Just me.
Being with a man like this really truly is the most exhausting thing. I married my now husband who has in the past been very much like these men and it drove me to a point of suicidal ideation and depression. It broke me in a way I'll never allow myself to be driven to again. I'm at the point it stops and he becomes better or we divorce. Nothing is worth the peace of mind this type of relationship steals from you 🙌

When my grandpa died my grandma had a “celebration of life” party where she trash talked him to anyone who would listen, she made it clear she hated him with a passion because of how mean and childish and antagonistic he was and only stuck it out for the benefits and her children. Their relationship was just like this couple. All his stuff was burned in a bonfire along with every picture she had of him, my dad and his siblings joined in the festivities happily.

He was mean and vindictive and grandma was trapped so in collective effort we dealt with him for her sake, even in death he made things hard for grandma with the Will by leaving her with absolutely nothing at all for putting up with him stating “this was payback for losing interest in him 20 years ago”. My dad received everything and he gave it all to grandma to handle as she saw fit(3 properties, 4 cars and some livestock). Good riddance if u ask me

thats so true, being with these guys are brain altering. Somehow they manage to make themselves seem like the perfect guy, and get you to fall for them, then over time, their mask slowly begins to fall, and you try desperately to stick in back on while everything seems to fall apart. Sometimes you have kids or other factors that make it really hard to leave, or your situation without that person would seem even worse, so you just accept it. Push the pain down and find a way to focus on the "good" things, all the while, you lose a part of yourself too.
I left a relationship like this ~ a year ago, and it was SO hard... I still feel like I love the guy, so it was incredibly painful to push myself away when he tried everything to win me back. I knew he wasn't actually going to change..and even If he did, it shouldn't have taken me losing myself and deciding to leave to finally make him change. So I left, and 7 months later I'm the happiest I've ever been. Im spending more time with family, doing great in college, and have even met a new guy who is truly a dream come true.
So for anyone woman out there reading this- I know its hard... its painful, and you'll doubt yourself time and time again, but sometimes leaving is worth it... sometimes you open a door to a better life you never dreamed was possible... no one deserves to have their heart stomped on and puppeteered around. If you can find the courage to leave, I promise you'll be thankful you did...sending love to anyone going through this

I love your story. This is what decentring men is all about. Ultimately, you have to find your own happiness because it is always internal not external. My approach to relationships has always been like that. I prioritise my own happiness though I must admit with 3 children, it takes a deliberate effort to carve out time for myself. I have maintained my best 2 hobbies in my 12 years of marriage and even my children know that mommy has her 'special time' when they know, I won't be available. My husband certainly has more hobbies than me and he is able to do more things but I am not resentful because I still have time to myself that I am just me. Not a wife. Not a mother. Just me.
Being with a man like this really truly is the most exhausting thing. I married my now husband who has in the past been very much like these men and it drove me to a point of suicidal ideation and depression. It broke me in a way I'll never allow myself to be driven to again. I'm at the point it stops and he becomes better or we divorce. Nothing is worth the peace of mind this type of relationship steals from you 🙌
