Nathaniel Louder Anthony's a dumass, why the fuck did he jump ship from Nuggets to the Knicks. The Nuggets did everything for him to put him in the position to win. Nuggets got him Camby, K-Mart, JR Smith, Chauncey Billups, Allen Iverson, As long as Melo's been with the knicks the knicks have not put anything for him.
The nuggets never got better after that western conference finals appearance in 09. The Knicks have Phil Jackson in their management and I believe that's why he stayed.
AlladinMclovin2334 the original plan was for Amare, him, and Chris paul to team up in NY. It would have happened too but Carmelo decided to try and force the knicks hand to trade to get him instead of waiting to sign him in the off season. Donny Walsh was going to call his bluff on saying he might resign with Denver but James Dolan circumvented him and traded all of their assets to get him by the deadline instead of waiting. That made it so they had no one they could use to trade for to get Chris Paul.
Yea I agree I think Melo going to the Knicks was not a bad move because only one year when he was with the Nuggets they got out of the first round, they couldn't get anywhere in the playoffs. In Melo's first two full years with the Knicks they got past the first round I believe.
Alladin Batman I've seen this so many times, Allen Iverson never played with Chauncey Billups. They were traded so Chauncey went to the Nuggets and AI went to the Pistons.

Carmelo will always be my favorite player. A.I & Melo was a deadly threat on offense. It just sucks that they ran into SA and LAL in the playoffs. In 2007-08' they led the league in blocks and steals but gave up 107 points. Wish they could have done more together even though it was short, but the west was tough. Every team Melo went up against was a great team.
Exactly! People knock Melo for always losing in the first round but every team he lost to in the first round was a better team.
akeme25 Lebron would've beat him in the East or he would've got knocked off by Boston either way. 2009 would be great for Melo in the East but he'd probably lose the finals either way to Kobe.

The issue with this nuggets team was defense and the fact ai and melo were SUPER isolationheavy. When they got Billups it added a winning attitude and someone that didnt need a HIGH volume of shots to be effective on offense and even though iverson gets alot of steals in passing lanes Billups was a much better on ball defender it's easy to look at this roster on paper and think wtf happened but this is why

Several reasons:
1. He didn’t sign with the nuggets, he was traded for Andre miller and picks because he was starting to get old and fought with team management. He didn’t pick the team he was moved to.
2. Bron and Bosh jumped ship and chose the team they went to knowing it’d be stacked af
3. Lebron (arguably top 2) joined dwade and bosh who were top 3 and top 10 in the league respectively. All 3 were in the middle of their primes whereas AI was 32 and Melo was in his 3rd year in the league. Neither were seen as top 5 players at the time and were primarily known as scorers.
4. AI and Melo didn’t make a spectacle about it like the Heatles did
5. Camby, K-Mart and JR were solid role players at best but in reality, were very inconsistent. Any GM would trade all 3 for Bosh in a heartbeat.
6. Chauncey was traded for AI so they weren’t there at the same time. He wasn’t a superstar either

BINGO, Scoring the basket is all they cared about, No team defense or passing they get the ball and see nothing but the basket.
Iverson's 1st partial season with the nuggets, and just like the next one his full season they may the #1 seed in the 1st round. And such lost the following year in 08 they even won 50 games and still was #8 as almost all the teams in the top 8 Uber competitive west won 50+ games that year and they lost to the lakers. Without Nene (defensive center) who had cancer and Linus Kleiza injury. The following year Billups would get them both back win 4 more games to not be #8 & not meet the #1 seed, make a deep playoffs run and be hailed as a hero... unfair assessment if u ask me. Had a stronger team than AI , & only won games. Not meeting the #1 seed and eventual champions is the reason why they went deep, no other reason. AI>Billups.

sounds like you didnt watch the series. Iverson shot like shit, both him and melo play absolutely no defense and they have no scoring help besides each other. This team was bait for any team that could play good team basketball. Trading iverson for chauncey billups was the best thing the nuggets ever did as an organization besides picking up alex english.

Everyone likes to blame George Karl for the Nuggets misfortunes in the playoffs, I honestly don't think thats a fair assessment.
one of the worst refereed series ever. nuggets were the better team. another cheat and steal for the spurs
nope melo and iverson for the most part just shot like shit after this game (mostly iverson tho), little defense (besides marcus camby) and little scoring help. Much less the spurs won the chip that year, how were they not the better team.
Problem was their coach. He seemed great, but the way he treated J.R smith breaking his confidence wont work with alot of people. Also I just dont understand how he couldn't get them to play better together. but did melo and AI even play one full season together?
