Yup...same age when Class Clown came out and I never laughed so hard in my life. Carlin was always cutting edge and way ahead of his time, It's a rare and wonderful gift to still make people laugh after you're gone. He'll always be the gold standard of comedy for me!
I’m a baby-boomer and remember when George Carlin was banned by major TV networks and practically every radio station. My friends and I drove to Memphis, TN, from our small Mississippi town to buy his albums in the 1970’s. George was one of my heroes. 😁
Keep in mind that this is from decades ago when there was no internet or cable and just about 6 over the air TV channels in the US. Over the air broadcasts must follow certain FCC rules while most anything legal is OK on cable
@@michaelzurilla7639 Nah, go the vinyl, that's part of the magic of how a lot of us old farts discovered him, crackles, pops, hiss and all. Silas, I was probably around your age in '72 when the album "Class Clown" came out and you're genuine belly laughs made 50 yrs disappear like magic. This was outrageous, cutting edge humour back in the day and in some ways, still is. It does my heart good to see George Carlin make yet another generation howl with laughter. The court case that arose from Carlin's seven dirty words monologue set a precedent for what would be allowed on American television and radio to this day, with only a few exceptions since then. Landmark!

Carlin was a master of the English language. His word play is legendary in the comedy world 🌎. I'm glad you found him. He always made laugh so damn hard. 😂
Oh man, I was introduced to Carlin by some older kids when I was 6 back in 1974. My mom was so mad when I repeated the little routine and went next door to have a word with the kids. 😄 Years later I bought the album they played me. Then my mother was really mad at me when my little brother was playing it for his friends when he was about 10.
Yep, Carlin is the master. But I have to correct you. I looked it up to double-check and it's The Hippy Dippy Weather Man, no Dipper. I came across 2 of his televised Al Sleet routines. Please watch George Carlin The Hippy Dippy Weather Man from 1978's 'George Carlin Again' and George Carlin on Carson - Hippy Dippy Weather Man 1966. That last one is in black and white and George has short hair and no beard. Wow! Al Sleet is eternal. Miss him!
Oh, I had forgotten about him! I love all the old comics. They were so clever and imaginative and brave considering the times. You really should look for the GC album, “Class Clown”. In addition to a lot of great, classic George stuff, the complete version of this “7 words” bit is so much better than this live version! (BTW… I’ve been fortunate enough to not only see George LIVE on three occasions, but even got to go backstage, to briefly meet him, after the first show, back in ‘83!) There's a reason many people refer to George Carlin as "The Modern Prophet."
That would be hilarious to do a reaction to a portable record player, laugh. I definitely seen certain kinds of older songs where the song itself is just a picture of the album, off on a 45 RPM single, but then I've seen other songs where it's a video of a nice turntable that's been hooked into the audio system and then you can see the guy setting the little down on the record and you can hear the crackling of the vinyl and so forth. I found it interesting because that's what I grew up with, that and the radio. I had around 2000 records and only just sold them during the pandemic. I love the fact that you're reacting to one of the best comic minds that ever lived. He knew words and how to use them. He was arrested and temporarily detained after performing in a small town venue for using "indecent language". It was not televised, but that's what led him to come up with this routine. He was brilliant!
This was fantastic. I love the George Carlin comedy material from the seventies and eighties. "A Place For My Stuff" was my favourite GC album. His best imo. I have seen UA-cam presenters sometimes start playing an album on a turntable showing the record playing, and then editing in a streamed recording with better sound. How they do it...not sure of the exact mechanics.
Dope video bro, and awesome vinyl find! I'm 21, and first heard Carlin's, "Wonderful Wino Radio" sketch he did early in his career, and then I heard his later stuff and realized it was the same guy. Yes, it's true that he was arrested very briefly, charged only with disorderly conduct, in Milwaukee after performing his Seven Words You Can Not Say On TV. But later, all charges were dropped, and the arrest actually helped George Carlin become more popular!
I am glad this young man came across George Carlin and appreciate the comedy in Genius of George Carlin. Keep up the good work love your Channel. Hello from Bay Ridge Brooklyn 75 year old man
Yes Yes Yes, So many comedy albums out there. Starting with George is great. You might want to find Robin Williams first comedy album. His take on Shakespeare porn alone is worth the time.
As a kid, I bootlegged HBO way back in the late 70’s to watch this. Cable TV was new, and they sent a radio signal along with the HBO signal, so you had to build a filter to take out the radio freq. noise so you could tune in the cleaned up HBO. So George taught me some electronics and dirty words. RIP.
The 7 Dirty Words sketch came out during my high school years. My reaction was much the same as yours. Carlin was a master that will stand the test of time.
YES...great idea reacting to an Album. You will be the first one and It may catch on. Why not? do it. You will always be the first one to have tried it.
George carlin, jamin it in new york is his absolute best. Do the "things that we have in common" or the airline bit with a guest, you'll be rolling on the floor.
Glad you kept these goin'. Still gotta do The Trillion Daves though! And 'A place for my stuff'. And 'Time' AAAAAND this isn't the whole Dirty Words routine. You gotta react to the full one. You didn't even get to 'tits'!
I 1st heard of George Carlin in 1970 when my father brought home one of his first comedy albums, even though I was a teenager I wasn't allow to be in the living room with my and his friends listening to their favorite comics, which included George Carlin,Red Fox, Richard Pyro , Pigme Martin and so many more. I missed them all.
I AM SOOOO PROUD OF YOU!!!! YOU FOUND ONE OF CARLINS "LIST". Awesome Huh? GREAT JOB! Silas, You are smiling so big you can hardly talk though your smile! LOL!
Thanks Silas, it's great to hear and remember George Carlin from his genuinely funny material. During his last years on earth he became jaded and cynical; not without good reason, but his acts weren't as much fun. It's a lot nicer to remember him from when he could still laugh at the ridiculous and make us laugh as well. As I always say, "Laughter is the lubricant to life".
Oh I remember I was about your age when my dad bought the album. George was his favorite comedian. Great job! (This was us kid’s favorite bit). We had people listen to George and watch their reactions as well. I also recommend Arlo Guthrie “Alice’s Restaurant”. It’s long but worth every second. His father Woody Guthrie wrote “This Land is Our Land”, an American classic. Interesting history as well. “Alice’s Restaurant “
I love George Carlin, so watching his skit and laughing along with you is great! I've just watched these three and I think playing the album is a good idea! ALSO, he is in a hilarious movie from 1987 with Bette Midler and Shelly Long called Outrageous Fortune and I think we should watch it on your show. You could condense it and show the funny parts that we all watch together. That would be fun!
That was... quite heartening... I feel compelled, somewhat, to let you know that George is also talking about poetry... I think I can say as much... I've got most of the letters, and not much else
It's true! And Carlin showed us...that the English language is our bitch. The full length version of his bit said something like: "There are (thousands) of words in the English language and out of that list there are a few bad words you can't say. So, out of all those... you seven... BAAAD WORDS! They must be really bad!" and later: "...no bad words! Bad thoughts. Bad intentions! But, no bad words." There is a lot more to this bit although this captures the core of it. And yes, he was arrested coming off stage for saying these seven words in a repeat of this bit. If I recall, he spent at least a night in jail and his 1st amendment right to free speech had the charges dropped. Gotta love the bible thumping purists that thought the world was ending because of a few vowels and consonants came together to make particular sounds that made us all laugh... 🤔😏
The album this bit came from is the classic album Class Clown....put THAT on your record player.... it's the album that made him blow up...and was the cause of the Supreme Court case when a dj played it on live radio late one night and the FCC came down on him.
You Are RIGHT About The Supreme Court and Arrest But It Was Another Comedian LENNY BRUCE That GREATLY INSPIRED Carlin, Richard Prior, and a WHOLE bunch of others! Even Howard Stern! It wasn't until LENNY Won his cases THEN Comedy got REALLY FUNNY!
Glad you're enjoying George Carlin. I am double-laughing because I'm laughing at Carlin AND I can't help but laugh whenever he makes you crack up. 🤣For more I recommend "GEORGE CARLIN - The Ten Commandments" and "George Carlin on soft language" - I think you'd really enjoy those as well and I'd love to see your reactions to those.

During his last years on earth he became jaded and cynical; not without good reason, but his acts weren't as much fun. It's a lot nicer to remember him from when he could still laugh at the ridiculous and make us laugh as well. As I always say, "Laughter is the lubricant to life".
I discovered George Carlin when I was a teen back in the 90s. Still my favorite comedian.
George has a masterful way with words. Highly recommend his Advertising Lullaby
That was a CLASSIC reaction to a super classic bit.
Yes, react to the vinyl. Love George !
George. A luv my whole life.
Another example of "part-time filth" he gave was "you can prick your finger but DON'T finger your pr**k!"
George Carlin's Extended List Of Dirty Words should be your next reaction.
Insane!
The Best comedian ever with all due respect to the other comedians nobody funnier just tells the truth.
When I saw him in San Diego in 1979 his list was something like 100 words long. My ribd hurt after the show.
One of the funniest, no doubt. Yes, you should react to his vinyl album on your record player. I don't think ive ever seen that before.
Carlin was one of a kind. He was Great!
I've never seen your Channel but I am enjoying you react to the great legendary comedian George Carlin, top 5 of all time
Love George.
The GOAT!!!
Smart as hell and funny.
