Spoiler!!!! I actually thought Maddy was the one with the secret the whole entire book because she was always so quiet when things started to get a lil messy. But then she was finally relevant when she was shot and things started to unravel. And I actually trusted Arthur the whole entire book. Loved the ending!

Arthur - interesting for him to be a gotti, didnt expect that help - bros cool. no words. - however kinda hated him for not giving justice to catherine too 4. Reyna - if she had a dnd role, she’d be a cleric or healer - i did not expect her to cheat tho - tbh no words, she’s a bit.. meh.. 5. Red - her personality was annoying - unusual for me to hate the main character but her character was boring - im.. im out of words to hate her. all i could say she’s annoying 6. O L I V E R. - someone p l e a s e do something to him/neg - i couldnt stand this dude like why would you sacrifice your sister - yk holly jackson is good if you can despise a character overall, the book would be like a 4/5. kinda gave me headaches in the long run but its fine (i finished this book in a day). aggtm is better imo
I felt the same way. rated it a 4 star as well and yes oliver was so annoying i felt for red when he shoved her out of the RV. I liked arthurs character as well and I am glad his dad gave her money for the medical bills.
I was a bit disappointed, I think Holly Jackson squished a trilogy into a single standalone... The story has a lot of potential and the ending left a lot of things unexplained List of areas to improve on: -Curtains (What's with that Squidward pattern???) -The Sniper (I didn't like the 'big reveal' part where Arthur reveals he's Gotti's son and the sniper is his brother, GIVE US SOME CLUES TO FIGURE IT OUT!) -Arthur (Same with the Sniper, can't we figure it out ourselves? Plus at the end where he kills Catherine it's kind of savage and creepy) - Red's Mom (Jackson should have clarified how she died, this might just be a problem on my part, but I was confused this whole time about what happened to Grace, I know she died from a gunshot on the back of her head on her knees and all, but I was still confused about it for the most part of the story. She's also very unexplored, I WANT MORE CLUES) - Red's Dad (Context points to him being a little messed up after Red's Mom's death, but it was left unclear the whole book) -Oliver (WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH HIM?! It feels kind of weird to leave him as an unlikable character, we never got the satisfaction of him apologizing or stop being an idiot. Also, why did everyone just let Oliver be an absolute idiot douchebag???) Basically, Holly please give us some more clues- AGGGTM is still better by a mile tbh, but Five Survive is okay.
@@LauraSofia071 Yeah I thought it was him too but because he seemed desperate to survive. Also because Reyna wouldn't have wanted someone else to die, Maddy wouldn't have wanted her best friend to die and Arthur because of the you know what.
@@toriholmes1923 yes Reyna is a med student and I don’t think she would trade a life and also Arthur and Maddy were very unlikely to vote yes in my opinion
i feel like it was Maddy or Arthur bc Maddy was very manipulated by her brother and could have been blindsided by him into voting yes or Arthur knew she wouldn't get killed bc they still hadn't found out the other name so he knew she was safe even if she did have to leave the RV
Just finished the book and 100% agree with everything you mentioned. But what was the deal with the curtains?? I think I was more invested in that storyline than some of the middle scenes lol
Omg the curtains and that extra 1 foot/meter of RV whatever it was, annoyed me SOOOOO much.. everything else you said in your review I agree with. Do you think there will be a follow up book?
imo it felt like symptoms of having adhd, might sound farfetched like maybe red has other mental problems because of her past and these are her coping mechanisms..?
Dude exactly!! I just finished the book and now I'm searching in the comments if someone has talked about the curtains!!! And also the other person who voted YES!! Who was that??!!! I need answers plz!!
Personally I didn’t care for any of the characters and I was definitely forcing myself to read this. I actually felt really bored for a lot of the book. I absolutely love Holly Jackson and I felt let down by this. Maybe I have to read it again but I don’t see my opinion changing unfortunately. I liked the ending but overall this was ok for me
I really liked the book but it was definitely rushed, like some other comments I think it could have been better if it was 2 or 3 books instead. I still enjoyed it to a point. I wish we got more ending then the letter so we could see how the other characters panned out and to see Arthur and Red (What happened with that). If she made it into 2 books, definitely would have been better and the character build up could have been so good too. I kind of want to see more Arthur and Red and important characters with them.
Also is it just me that one hundred percent certain maddy was the other yes? She follows her brother with everything even getting shot because she trusted him if he wanted red out she would agree to0
I always try to believe the best in people so I was seriously hoping it wasn’t Maddy 😭 but honestly seems plausible Except for Oliver. I absolutely could not believe in the best in him 👀👀
How could you feel for Arthur?!? His plan was to get the info from Red and then have her killed. He also got the two old people killed, Maddie shot, and killed Maddie’s mom.
Spoilers!!!! I totally called the Arthur twist because he was the one who led them there with the directions. He was the one who said them first and I knew he had to be in on it once the two people were shot. I figured Red was the witness and being paid off by the mom but I did not see the mom killing red's mom coming at all. It was especially heart breaking to see that the closest people red had to family were the people who took hers away. I wanted to see more rage from Red, and in general more action. She was very sit in the back and be quite and I was not a fan
Red was definitely NOT my favorite type of main character. And I never really made that connection before with the directions!! It all makes sense now 😂
I feel like the book wasn’t written as well as it could’ve been with the concept that it had. Idk it kinda felt like it didn’t take long to write and it had many, many flaws but I can tell it had potential to be better than it was.
I just finished the book and theres this question in my head. Why were there chapters that had nothing to do with the charcters but with Gianna and Christian from the maddest obsession?? I tried searching and all but no one was asking this question nor answering it. So please anybody tell me, what do gianna and christian have to do with five survive??

The stuff i hated: -Oliver(need i say more?), especially when he threw Red out while he wasn't willing to get out when he thought he and reyna were the ones with the secret -The way they introduced Arthur as a Gotti was so underwhelming -the unfinished plot abt the curtains -Catherine's death, as u mentioned should have been given with justice -The terrible beginning, i almost put the book down b4 i finished Finally just something i wanted to mention, but i kinda guessed Oliver was gonna die from the beginning .He picked up the knife which meant he wasn't opposed to killing as long as he survived. As soon as Arthur was revealed as a Gotti, I just knew Oliver would attempt murder and sniper wold shoot him. To me, it seemed obvious, and the points i mentioned just proved my suspicions. The only reason i stayed committed till the end was knowing that Oliver would die.
Yesss Oliver 😂😂😂 it shouldn’t be that satisfying to see what happens to him at the end. And the beginning was sooo slow, I definitely agree with you there.

Catherine Lavoy was not a great person and probably was partially responsible for her friend’s death. 4. Red was the “witness”, and possibly a fake one (she kept thinking about the plan) Well, what made it click for me was that line about Catherine and Red’s mom being friends since college and how much that was stressed. I don’t know, when I read that I just stopped for a few minutes and had that thought, and it made some sense (? but it also was so fucked up I didn’t entirely believe it. What blew me away was that Catherine gave Red’s identity away. And I can’t really brag much about figuring it out because I didn’t think the sniper wanted to know about the witness, I thought it had more to do with Red’s mom’s death. Also, I completely agree about Catherine’s death being rushed, and it felt unsatisfactory that Red couldn’t say what she wanted to say to her face. However, thinking about it, what could she say? And, overall, it was better that someone mafia-related took the shot and not Red. She could’ve thrown her life away, and otherwise it would’ve been very hard to prove what Catherine did in a trial I think.
